It's so nice they play in the presence of Joan Miro himself. The latter looks quite unruffled Duke, on the contrary, is enjoying himself and Sam Woodyard's brushes are just admirable! A terrific post . Thank you Maria Clara!

Le Duke, en plus d'être un immense compositeur et chef d'orchestre était un très grand pianiste. Je n'ai pas eu malheureusement le privilège de le voir sur scène (il est mort le jour de mes 18 ans), mais je suis allé m'incliner sur sa tombe au Woodlawn Cemetery à New York. A côté de lui reposent Lionel Hampton, Illinois Jacquet, Miles Davis, Max Roach et un peu plus loin Milt Jackson.

A great' less-is-more' blues, in the company of the other great man himself. Woodyard's minimal brushstrokes would have surely been appreciated by Miro?
