Relationship between Japan and Germany goes as far back as WWI. Since then the bavarian culture has left significant influence for the Japanese and one of its reflection is on the literature such as naming characters in anime and manga.

It's more than German culture. it has a really deep meaning. I think you should watch the whole show to find out, because I don't want to spoil it. However, I think you already know that Germany and Japan were allies in WWII. After the war, some people judged Germans and Japanese because of fascism, and I believe that's the meaning.

I guess the meaning of anime and song is different from people to people. It's the biggest war propaganda or, conversely, anti-war

"At that time I was filled with confusion. I've never heard a Titan killing another titan. I also felt a glimmer of exhilaration. I felt... the rage of humanity itself was embodied in what I saw"

Isayama's message with AoT is basically peace. To make this relatable for people he wanted to make a world like our own. The maps used in AoT is basically our world map turned upside down, with Marley being Africa and the Paradis Island being Madagascar.
The Marley Impire is equal to the Roman Empire who tries to conquer all. The Mid-East Alliance is equal to the Ottoman Empire. And Finally the Eldians on Paradis Island is equal to the germanic tribes of the time. Thats basically how the german theme come to be, and the lack of people of color, their names etc supports it. As some have mentioned there's also WWII references with the cooperation between german-like and japanese-like nations. The early Eldians tried to conquer all(Nazi Germany?) who were in the end divided with a great wall aswell.
I think that basically covers it
