- Abhijata Sridhar Iyengar visited Iyengar Yoga London on 3rd May 2024 - forty years after her grandfather, BKS Iyengar, opened the first building of the Iyengar Yoga Institute in London (Maida Vale). Teachers and students came to welcome Abhijata, celebrate the forty year anniversary of the Iyengar Yoga London centre and take part in a Q&A session.
It's truly inspiring to listen Abhijata teacher, who is the daughter of a globally renowned master, share her insights in an interview. Her participation in the Q&A session, providing beautifully articulated and insightful answers, highlights not only her deep understanding but also the rich legacy she carries forward. Her responses were not only thoughtful but also a testament to the wisdom and knowledge she embodies.

How inspiring to hear Abhijata! It's like listening to Guruji! ❤ Very good question: why should the assessment be the only motivation to meet? Food for thought. As for the myriad of yoga styles... It would be interesting to know who the guru of Beer Yoga was! 😂 Some students study for years only to realise it was just a money business. No yoga to be found. I always felt sorry for them. Perhaps students of newly born styles should ask their teacher if the style they teach has any relation to the classical tradition. Iyengar yoga was revolutionary but steeped in tradition. Great interview! Much love to all at Maida Vale! Did my TTC there long time ago!
