Thanks buddy!!! Looks easy enough. I've got two of them to do on Monday, so you've been a real help. It's funny how, if you haven't done something in a long time, how quickly you can forget it, or at least lose your confidence enough to make you not just jump on it
Still leaking in back a little but over all the right thing. I would have cleaned the spud valve and washers with soap and water. Some times you just need to replace it. That wobbly toilet doesn't help. Good jon
I just had this problem at work and didn’t even know what the cause could be! Hopefully it’s a 10 minute fix tomorrow morning! And hopefully I have a spare spud gasket in case I need to change it, but there was a lot of play on the pipe when I was disassembling it for the high pressure vacuum breaker. So I think I knocked the gasket out of place like it was here.
How much is too much tightening of the spud nut? A fresh soft and tacky spud gasket should not need excessive tightening which God forbid can crack the toilet. also don't forget flat jawed wrenches for the chromed and very soft brass Sloan valve fittings.
When they leak from the joint just past the control stop? Remove the o ring. Sand or buff all corroded metal smooth, grease heavily the o ring groove seat, reinstall o ring carefully., reassemble. So far has stopped all of them unless the oring is damaged. Torn, thin spot, splits etc. Replace o ring and stop the leak.
I would've never use the same old rubber gasket, Even if the old one looks good, It's always better to change it, Also you should know that everything looks fine now, (NO LEAKS), Until you leave, Plumbing is tricky like that, It's gonna wait until you step out that door.........Then,..... Wammo.😊
How long did that repair last? Reusing old parts that was leaking might buy a few weeks, but I hope you went back with new parts for longer lasting repair.
Ive repaired flushometers like this before and i will say that sometimes the parts arent defective when the material leaks. Sometimes the rubber washers become displaced due to people flushing with their feet or pushing up against the flushometer when they sit down. Ive done this exact repair and just took everything apart washed the washers and fittings and then put it all back together, that action buys me an extra 2 yrs life before i have to replace the material.

First thing u learn working on Sloan Flushometers... never use pliers with serrated jaws on fixtures with chrome finish. Always smooth jaws
or put something on it a rag or towel
Good morning, Brother. Thanks for taking the time to post this video. I'm dealing with this exact issue. I hope this works
This video just helped me ace my interview for a job making 60k 👊🏽
Bless this video!
Watching it while sitting reverse on a toilet I had no idea how to fix.
Thank you thank you!!
Oh shit same issue and I couldn’t figure it out. Thanks a ton!

Awesome work there bro 👍🏻
I see that the toilet is a ProFlo and I'm not too keen on that brand!
Thank you. On the same toilet watching this fixing it right now.
Even taking the time to clean the parts and check the rubber gaskets and making sure it’s all in there tight I still see even more water leaking out.
Excellent explanation. Thanks 🙏
Replace the spud its not that expensive
Thank you for the video, I gotta fix one of these tomorrow 👍🏼😎

Thanks David, had the same issue. Very helpful!

Good job man!!!👍👍👍👍
Smooth jaw wrench!
Or use a towel or microfiber cloth to cover up the chrome if you don't have smooth jaws
Good Stuff thanks for uploading 👍
Thank you !
Where are you from I need you to fix two of them .
....seems a little crooked maybe the guy in the previous video over tightened it?
Hope this guy isn't a professional
Nice job
thank you man
Lazy "plumber" smh
When I encounter a leaking spud coupling they are almost always rusted. That's why I carry half a dozen in my truck at all times.
About replaced whit a new one at first!! 😎👍🪐🪐🪐
How much would you charge for fixing this?
