Thank you for the great review! We’re glad you liked the bass. Something to add is that our 4-string 18” X3M starts at $1350. This bass, fully assembled, fits into the included gig bag, which perfectly fits into the airplane’s overhead bin. Our motto is “Custom Like No Other”. This means that we will work with you to build the instrument custom-fit to your playing. Whether it’s the X3M or any other of our models, you can select as many or little options you’d like (ergonomics, number of strings, scale length, electronics, woods, etc). Shoot us a message if you have any other questions. Thanks again Gregor!
Maurizio is a very talented luthier. I own three of his basses and each one sounds great and plays great. One of them is an 18" scale 6 string from his Miezo series.
nice concept but for me an ideal travel bass should be cheap as, if your are hoping from plane, to train, to bus, to camp or improvise sleeping location, you would want something that you wouldn't miss if it become damaged, lost or stolen. i would be really wary of bringing a 4K instrument in a backpack when i can just get a uku bass or something similar for 200 buck.
$4K? Gig bag, no hard case? Ricockulously narcissistic and elitists stroking egos more than their instruments, by the sound of it, and it has shitty tones
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. This model starts at $1350, but we also make a 16” Miezo that starts at $790. It’s not $200, but then again we are not interested in building a cheap instrument. We’d rather build something of quality that will last a lifetime!
Just want to say I have an MÜB 5 string and plan on ordering a 4 string and probably an X3M in the future. My 5er is one of the best instruments I’ve ever played and the service and ordering experience were wonderful. Super great dudes over there.
That’s quite fascinating that this bass has changeable necks. I’ve been checking out these basses for quite some time and I never knew it had that feature. It’s definitely a unique feature. I also really dig the red finish on that bass. It look so nice 😎
I wish I had one of these years ago, as I'm very well traveled. One of these would be perfect. However, I have recently moved from the USA to Kenya, in the middle of the African bush. (It's next to impossible to order things here and have them safely make it.) Maybe one of these days when the price comes down a bit, then I visit another country, I can order one of these to a friend's house. I really like the concept, the sound, and the looks of it.
It's nice to see all those luthiers out there pushing the envelope, the big brands usually play it too safe until one boutique trend takes off and they're forced to catch up.
That’s super cool and innovative. Pretty serious coin for a travel bass but not totally out of the question either. Probably just stick with my uke bass for travel though in case some numbnuts drops a suitcase on it in the overhead.
@@mubcustom I agree,..you get what you pay for. But in reality, when us poor musicians hop on a plane, and throw this in the overhead bin, everybody piling their sht on top of it will inevitably become an issue. _(i.e; disgruntled nutjob in the aisle seat anyone? lol)_ and even at $800-$1350 _(no less $4100)_ I would still be incredibly concerned. not so much with a $300 or less travel bass 🤷🏼♂️ You could even mod the crap out of it- and put a few Band-AIDS on it while you’re on the road and not care. _(as Billy Sheehan said, hotel repairs,)_ No matter how great your bass is, and I’m sure it IS,..the ‘cheaper-the better’ for these travel situations. Pretty good playing overall, but serious question, is she a guitarist? Most, if not all the demo was on the little necks, upper strings, upper frets. Barely any demo of the fretless and not even one strike of the low b. I'm wondering, it is a bass after all, can it be demoed like one?
Hi. You can use standard strings. In fact, double ball end strings would no work here. Each string is locked with screws at the back of the headstock. thanks
Indeed. And we offer that too and all the possible permutations one can think of. We offer six scale lengths and even custom strings to tune to a lower pitch with shorter scale length. Like, low E tuning on a 22.75" scale. Or, low B on a 27" scale. Thanks!
Aside from sounding out of tune in the first clip it sounded pretty good. Personally not something I'd ever buy, even if I ever were a touring musician, but it's a nice gimmick and I hope they expand :)
Understandable for sure! I am a touring musician and I love my X3M 25.5” it’s been pretty much my go to for shows lately. To each his own for sure but I don’t regret my purchase at all! Blessings!
I use mine onstage and in the studio all the time…just played a Jazz festival a few days ago with mine. I have an X3M with a 25.5” maple neck. Love it to pieces!
Hi. This is not a gimmick bass. It's a serius instrument designed for working bass players. Our clients are either touring musicians who can finally carry their bass on board. Or recording bass players who only need to bring one bass with the necks they need to a recording session. That's the price for a high quality, hand made instrument with three necks and onboard headphone/aux-in amp. Hardly expensive when you think about it. Thank you
@@mubcustomit is nice to have you answering these comments. We will see in a year if they are expensive or not. The market will tell. It’s a very nice concept. Wish you the best of luck!
Hi. Our clients are touring musicians who can bring a 32" scale bass on board a plane, instead of having to check it in. And studio musicians who like the possibilities offered by different scales/fretted/fretless in just one bass. Thanks
Sounds great for what? The fretless neck is the only one that produces a somewhat usable tone, and even then it's not very good lol Cool concept, but not $4000 cool. Maybe they'll nail it in the next couple iterations, but this seems like a TikTok instrument, not a gigging/recording instrument.
Inventions that the world doesn't need and that no one was waiting for. Of course, there is a lot of work involved, but the bottom line is that you have to ask yourself when and where you can seriously use the instrument. Is it intended for pilots or business people who want to play a little bass in the hotel room and want to have “multiple” basses at their disposal? Sorry, the instrument is also completely out of my price range for a travel bass.
We appreciate the feedback! Most of the X3M owners are touring musicians that want a really compact instrument and/or a lot of flexibility with the multiple necks. Aside from the interchangeable neck system, our clients seem to like the overall design/look and playability of this model. To each their own!
I use my X3M in the studio, live and on the road all the time! Solved my issues with the airlines when traveling and provided me with a tool that has quickly become my go to instrument for any situation. It’s not for everyone for sure but to those of us who travel a lot and need this kind of convenience and quality in a functional instrument, it’s worth it.

Great playing by Sophie(as always) and another lovely instrument. Love your reviews.

Weird thing, don't know what's the target group for this bass. Also missed opportunity to switch from 5 to a sleeker 4 string neck.
