      It's possible..but with all variety, results may not be that great. Plus, it would take more time (tried in past) For better and faster result, I would recommend you to try any methods from these 3 - ruclips.net/video/ZRVyjbI10wo/видео.html

    I tried and succeeded in growing diffenbachia cutting in pure sand. Also I changed complete clay soil (new plant) to sand and compost with plant surviving all transplant shocks when I used sand. Even though I repot in hot summer time.
    Please do make a video on philodendron brasil propogation. My cuttings never roots in water. Should I try soil layering? Why it never roots in water. Or is it only my plant.

      Philodendron Brasil - It's work in progress (another video including Propagation as well). Takes time to grow and so taking time to upload. Have this plant from long back..but as of now, don't have any video. Finally, this year planned to do a video on it. They root quite easily in water...Air layering not needed..if the vine is long enough, you can try the 3rd method which I have shown in Money plant propagation video. Quite easy..Even if you burry 1-2 node completely inside soil, it's okay. No prob at all..

    That's Amazing !! Unfortunately, I horizontally placed a cutting in a pot since Oct'22; roots have developed but till date no leaf has sprouted. My second vertical cutting has developed roots and new leaf also comes...but it does not unfurl and dries away. Very disheartening. Kindly guide / suggest a remedy for both the cuttings ...

    • @GardeningUpbeat
      @GardeningUpbeat  Год назад +5

      Thank you very much :-) Oct..that's quite a long time and actually, that's not the right time. That time is the dormancy time for many plants like Dieffenbachia, Aglaonema etc. We can rarely see any growths, new shoots etc. Spring is the time when they get activated and start to produce new leaves, shoots etc. If you try from the end of Feb or from March, you would get much better result. Also, avoid planting them too deep..or else, they might rot.
      >> My second vertical cutting has developed roots and new leaf also comes...but it does not unfurl and dries away
      Sorry to hear that.but look like two things might happen here - Soil is soggy or Lack of light.
      Have a you tried in water directly? Just take 4-5 inches longer cuttings and keep them in water. They root quite fast..Though, water propagated plants initially take more time to grow after transplanting to soil. Hope that helps and thank you!

      You could try a propagation heat mat. They are fairly affordable and cuttings from topicals greatly benefit from having warm growing media and promotes faster growth.

    You did not let the cuttings callous over and did not put anything antifungal or Else?
    Would you think this method is safe for Monstera and Monstera variegata too or are they too prone to root rot ?
    Very beautiful how you talk about your plants.

      Thank you So much for understanding me and yes..love them a lot :-) It hurts me rally bad whenever my plants don't do well, thank you once again. Below are the answers for your questions -
      >> You did not let the cuttings callous over and did not put anything antifungal or Else?
      No, didn't use anything as Dieffenbachias are quite hardy plant, not too sensitive like many other plants. They roots quite easily comparing to many other plants. I am from India and here they grow very easily. In other places where they don't grow easily, it won't hurt to let the cuttings callous over or even using any fungicide.
      >> Would you think this method is safe for Monstera and Monstera variegata too or are they too prone to root rot ?
      100% SAFE. In fact, I am already working on a video and would update very soon. There is only one problem - they are going to take time. Also, cuttings rot only when we do mistakes like - 1. Environmental mistakes 2. Physical Mistakes. Example of Environmental mistake - propagating plants when it's not suitable, like in Winter. Example of Physical Mistakes - Keeping the water too soggy or too dry. I hope, I have answered your questions. If you still have any, please let me know and I would get back to you ASAP. Thank you!

    My dieffenbachia has always been a favorite of mine then it started to get very leggy and droopy leaves that feel like paper. I cut off 3 top pieces and rooted them in water. I planted back in same pot with 2 taller pieces i did not cut. It still looks so pitiful its breakjng my heart. The leaves are still green and i take great care watering it properly. We had some very cold weather and it is placed near a door. Do you think it got a cold draft that made this happen or is it not getting enough light? Really it was like one week it was beautiful and the next it was not. I feel like i should probably cut the tops from the other two stems and propagate them also and the stems using your new method but im afraid. What if something happens to it and it all dies?

    • @GardeningUpbeat
      @GardeningUpbeat  5 месяцев назад

      Sorry to hear about the issue. Since everything happened within week, I believe both are the issues (Cold draft and not enough light). Leaves droop when light is not enough and even they can tolerate direct sunlight too..It's too hot in my place..but still, they can tolerate direct sunlight. Not for very long though....
      You don't have to afraid of cutting the long stems. Since It's Spring, now is the best time and it's the growing time. Either you can try this method or use just water. Though by using this method, we can get many new plants, it takes bit longer than water. With little care, your plants would look much better in coming days. It happened with me too..and I have revived my plant well. In case you are interested in watching, here is the link - ruclips.net/video/JNw9BC42qVA/видео.html

      Sure, you can keep indoor considering they are getting enough bright light. Please, don't ever keep under direct sunlight, they would dry out (If I am not wrong, I have talked about it in the video). Thank you for watching!
