Also, given what you said about Adventure 3, while I don't half-support it and half-support it too, you said that if it does it'll be a miracle and will probably be bad, 1: I hear that SEGA may be thinking about remastering the Adventure duology, including the Chao Garden, cuz I read somewhere Takashi Iizuka actually likes the Chao because "they were his favorite playable characters in TSR." 2: One Adventure team of fans just gave up hope on SEGA making Adventure 3 and decided to do the dang thing themselves. On Dreams by the way. I've seen some footage and the story looks up to be VERY serious. We see Knuckles quoting the infamous Tikal's prayer: _"The 7 Emeralds are the servers. Chaos is power, enriched by the heart. The controller serves to unify the chaos."_ on a fiery background; Sonic crying, saying: "We SAVE people, we don't let them die!!" Eggman with a kinda scar around his right eye, saying: "Why are you trying to stop me, Sonic?! DO YOU WANT TO GET OLD, AND SICK?! AND DIE ONE DAY??!!", which I don't get it, maybe it's related to the plot. Then it shows two footages of Eggman as a kid, in one he's crying, in another one he's on a flower field at night and he picks a sunflower, or what it appears to be so, and he still holds onto that flower to the present day, as shown in the intro cutscene, on the Egg Carrier. It's all just amazing to me. I don't HALF-like the way they made Amy thick, 😣 but on the other hand, I say that's an improvement for her… 😉 😏 (I better stop right here). So, what's your opinion about it? Just search Sonic Adventure 3 fangame Dreams PS5 when you have the time AND IF you feel like it. It's WIP for the meantime, unless it ends like most unfinished Sonic fangames, but given the fan remake of Triple Trouble coming after 4 YEARS, you know what I'm gonna say. So, just what'd you feel about it?

The SA3 in Dreams sounds like the most melodramatic thing in the worst way possible. It honestly sounds like what Sonic Omens did. Not interested.

I’m glad that Forces wasn’t hated on too hard, because it was my favorite 3D Sonic game that I had currently played until I played both Generations and Frontiers. I can understand all of your rankings for these games that we all know and love/hate.
This is easily the most unique and unpredictable ranking of sonic games I've ever seen. I found my jaw dropping on opinions that I agree with, which is just weird. Still, its nice not being able to generally predict what will be where in these types of videos.
I originally hated 06 because of the gameplay but after I beat 06 I found out about rise of lyric and shadow the hedgehog and then after returning to 06 I actually started to enjoy 06 for what it was, I still do have fun with this game most of the time
It's great see a franchise that I (and many others) grew up with expand year by year, and it's only going to expand even more by the end of this year. BTW: Happy new year!

This video was a very great guide to the ones i wanna put on my list and which ones i don't. I love the honesty about Sonic '06 & Unleashed as they were my introduction to the Series and i really love them both. I can imagine that the Top 5 will bring a lot of joy for me aswell, although there are definitely some of them here like Lost World who will probably guarantee to give me hundreds of headaches, so i might aswell not even give them a try because i sit very closely to my TV (room is not that big) and i imagine that could be horror. But I'm also confident i would have a lot of fun with the Classic old 2D Platformers. Thanks for this passionate but still compact Ranking. I imagine if i would've done this it would've been stretched to 4 hours possibly. So i know how much routine and work was put into this. Also thanks to this video I'm not shying away from giving Forces a try since i always thought it looks fun but the critics always hold me back from trying it.
When Nathaniel Bandy did this earlier in 2022, he included double the games you did. And it took longer than his Ranking every Mario game video despite covering less games.
It’s always a pleasure hearing other peoples opinions on the franchise we all love. I think this may be the only list where my opinion differs massively to your own. My personal favourites are, Unleashed Mania SA2 Zero Gravity (Blame Nostalgia) Black Knight (Also Nostalgia)
All agreed upon from me at least. Unleashed for being that one game from my childhood that was pretty awesome, Mania for actually making me wanna replay it over again, SA2 for still being that one childhood game that I put a lot of hours into for the chao and early childhood moments, ZG for actually making take the extra mile to unlock everything and challenging me, and BK for actually having a ending message that I didn't quite pick up until a few years back due to being a kid when I played it back then.
I really actually respect what you say in regards to most things on your list. Colors actually was a game that I adore from back in my middle school days when it came out. Not bad writing and pretty unique ideas with the wisp gimmicks. I personally love SA2, but eh, almost every Sonic game that I have played entirely aside from the Rivals, Advance series, Boom series, Lost World, Episode 1 and 2, and Advance series are all pretty up there for me. Yeah, some annoying moments here and there, but it was joyful while it lasted. I actually wanna get into Chroncles even through I haven't played it as of yet due to the idea of a Sonic RPG. I actually don't mind the graphics and I am patient enough to see what is going on. Suffice to say, I am loooking forward to 2023 Sonic: part 2. I do hope to see what you will talk about soon with the Undertale and maybe Deltarune chapters 1-2 EWW with Charri, and espically Paper Mario Sticker Star, as I know most people hate that game with a passion. Heres my list of great sonic games 10 Sonic Frontiers 9 Sonic forces 8 Sonic adventure 1 7 Sonic adventure 2 6 Sonic Colors 5 Sonic Generations 4 Sonic 4 episode 2 3 Sonic Mania 2 Sonic Superstars 1 Sonic 3 and Knuckles As for the other games in this video, some of them are either good or bad, but that just depends on your perspective. Also, this list that i just made is my opinion and my opinion alone, and if you don't like it, that's ok. Also, the reason i didn't put Sonic 2 on my list is that i don't like it. It's overrated, in my opinion. there are some stages that i like chemical plant zone, Casino night zone, hill top zone and mystic cave zone. All the other zones are kind of bland in my opinion but other then that i respect peoples opinions on this game but i don't like it as much as everybody else. If this is your favorite game of all time please tell me with that being said this has been Bardock2003 calling out.

I'm glad that you finally got your thoughts out there. While Sonic isn't my favorite franchise, it's still one that I can't look over. I genuinely don't know where I'd be if I never a certain old friend who got me interested in the series. Sure, I don't see this person anymore, but that doesn't make me lose any interest. I look forward to your future content, whatever it may be, and I'll try to comment on every video if I can. While I disagree with many of your picks, this video was still very enjoyable. :D
I definitely prefer the Adventure and Advance games over Forces, Colors, and Lost World, but I respect your opinion for how unique it is. Plus you put respect on Unleashed and Frontiers, my 2 favorite Sonic games, so you get my support 😁👍

He said that they have no plans for SA3 just yet which is understandable because the fact if we're getting next Sonic game than just SA3 it's gonna be like new adventure game style which I don't think if SA3 is going to be. Kinda off topic but i started playing the Black Knight a month ago(i'm currently playing right now) ,this game is incredible, the mechanic is the same as the secret rings expect sonic does not run automaticly , i can maneuver him without worries, his attack are easy to execute(probably because i'm on emulator with a ps4 controller),can do critical damage and there is duel sequence in boss fights that's a straight 7.5/10 for me.
By any chance, could you tell me how you set up the controls? Because I have a confusion with wii games on Dolphon. I actually might try it out with the steam deck soon enough, so I am looking forward to that.

Which is boring after couple of hours with chao garden, it should have been at least Signs. No matter how hard the chao garden is. At least it's still enjoyable watching taking care of your chao is the most important.

This list is almost exactly my ranking for all the games. The only thing I'd personally change is putting Rush Adventure above Rush, Rush isn't bad but I just like Rush Adventure more because of the levels, music, Blaze still being a major part of it, the true ending being awesome, and Marine being one of my favorite Sonic characters due to her personality and growth. Grinding for materials was a bit iffy, but it doesn't take long at all. The only thing I hate is racing Johnny and the submarine.
Colors was my first video game I ever played when I was 4 or 5 idk. I loved it then, but as soon as I heard about ultimate, I instantly bought it. Loved it even more than the og version. 12/10 game

Sonic Chronicles makes me wish we had more, but better, Sonic RPG game. There's a fantastic Sonic RPG fan game based on the Sonic SATAM TV show that I highly recommend and shows a Sonic RPG done right. Also, Sonic 06 is, in my opinion, one of those "It's So Bad, It's Good" category.

If Amy mentioned Sticks in "Sonic Frontiers", it most likely means there's a non-"Sonic Boom" Sticks in the canon universe. It doesn't mean any of the "Sonic Boom" games are canon, it just means there's a version of Sticks in the canon game universe.
Or Ian Flynn got a little too blast happy with the references. There's also a reference to Tangle even though the IDW comics are a confirmed separate continuity. Are you gonna tell me that there's suddenly a Tangle that exists in the main canon even though she's never been mentioned anywhere else?

Man I don’t know why but I wanna cry this video just pushes all my buttons the nostalgia the love the hate and most importantly the memories I’ve only ever had the pleasure of playing a small handful of sonic games but the most memorable was definitely sonic rush adventures that was probably one of my all time favorites I would play it constantly I think like tony my problem with it was the Johnny races they were incredibly hard and at the time of I was still very young and didn’t know how to upgrade the water bike so I eventually just gave up on them and worried more about finding all the hidden islands I always and still wish they would do a remake for this game with voice acting actual cutscenes and much better graphics and maybe even a new port but alas it will probably never happen but I can still dream… the 3DS port for sonic generations was pretty fun too the casino levels were especially fun but the time eater boss battle was ridiculous for me but the rest of the game was incredible especially the races against shadow, silver and metal sonic those were really fun sonic forces was also pretty good I remember spending most of my time playing with the customization screen for the player character that was probably my favorite feature… anyway this list is perfect that’s my opinion tony thanks for the year of sonic I really enjoyed it… also I apologize once again for my long winded comment like I did last time anyway thank you
Even though there are some bad Sonic games atleast we can say there's potential in all these bad games that under the right circumstances they could of been gems.
From one Tony to another Im completely flabbergasted to see Sonic CD and 3&K that low on the list. But I can definitely respect this list. I still don't know why almost everyone hates sonic 06, sonic 4 episode 1 and 2, and sonic forces. I still like those games. I donkt have sonic 4 on my mobile yet.
Even before sonic origins I thought hyper sonic could be canon, the reason was because only in the hyper sonic ending does it show Knuckles staring off at Sonic and Tails like "Man, what good people those two are, I shouldn't have misjudged them like that" instead of only showing Sonic and Tails flying in the tornado.
Tony heres the thing the Titans were not originally opponents for sonic AT FIRST but due to Sage control and still are in the boss fight Giganto Wyvern and Knight Technically count as her bosses
Nice try, but Sage herself isn't involved in any of the fights beyond some slight influence. She says herself that she can't fully control the Titans, just influence their anger.
i cant lie as someone who played sonic adventure dx this year it was really fun nice unique level designs where you can see you improving at the game constantly with new skips amazing character development and freedom sure the cutscenes are outdated but they just make me laugh ima be real i love this game and everything about it besides big i also did mod it to make if to look like sa1
Forces is a game I would put near the very bottom of my list. Not for being a broken, unpolished game, but for being a game with tons of missed potential. The concept of a game and story where Dr. Eggman has already won is awesome if done right. And I really wanted to like Infinite since he has a good design and a pretty good theme song. But I can’t look past the bad writing, underused concepts, horrible characterization, terrible level design, and Infinite’s lack luster origin story. Although I respect your opinion and I’m glad you are able to find enjoyment out of Forces. My personal Top 10 Sonic games would be: 1. Sonic Unleashed Xbox 360 2. Sonic Generations 3. Sonic Frontiers 4. Sonic Colors/Colors DS ( These two were my first ever Sonic Games so I have nostalgia for them.) 5. Sonic Adventure 2 6. Sonic Lost World 3DS 7. Sonic Advance 3 8. Sonic Rush 9. Sonic Unleashed Wii (I had this version before the 360 version.) 10. Sonic 06 (Mainly for Mephiles and Shadow’s characterization/story)
Sonic 06 has no right to be in the top 10, I for one love most of the characterization in the game and the story too, but you can’t ignore how terrible the bugs, glitches, and how unpolished the game is. It deserves to be in the middle of the list at best, the most optimistic with this game should be middle of the road I completely agree with your take on Forces, though. It’s my least favorite and my personal worst Sonic game
@@XGame80 sonic 06 has: 1) A decent story 2) Great villain 3) Lots of characters and well developed stories for silver and shadow 4) interesting stage designs 5) The best OST of the franchise It’s a rough game, but most sonic games are soulless in reality, so 06 is pretty good actually compared to other 06 games
I spent way too much time in the Chao Garden. In fact I spent a lot more time there than in the main game. I love raising Chaos Angel Devil Running and Swimming type Chao the most. I think I managed to get one that looked very similar to Sonic too. I eventually managed to max all of them out.
What a way to end the year of sonic, this year has arguably been Sonic's best especially with Frontiers and the second sonic movie. Frontiers is my favorite of these games btw. I still think Shadow and 06 are guilty pleasures and free riders is plain horrible. also wouldn't the end from sonic frontiers count as more of a villain than sage? just a thought since the end's body count is on par with that of Mephiles. Yeah overall these were pretty fun to watch, there were some things i disagree on like your opinion on black doom and a few others I won't say since there's too much to cover. but yeah have a happy new year.
Ok I know it's your opinions and I respect that, but hearing you diss the Chao gardena was just disappointing. I love the chao gardens, it's just so relaxing and the Chao is so adorable. And you would know what to do in it if you would just read the friggin manual for it. Plus I wish some form of it returns someway in sonic frontiers as an koco garden. I mostly like it because it's a fun distraction from the main game and it has a fun atmosphere around it.
Well, my copy of SA2 didn’t come with the manual; so I was screwed over in that regard. Even then, like I said, I found it boring when I did figure it out. I can respect the people who like the Chao Garden, but I don’t respect the people who keep hounding Sonic Team to bring it back.

Played the game as a kid, and actually loved it. It actually is what got me into the SSS show. Man, those times were golden.

This video was a very great guide to the ones i wanna put on my list and which ones i don't. I love the honesty about Sonic '06 & Unleashed as they were my introduction to the Series and i really love them both. I can imagine that the Top 5 will bring a lot of joy for me aswell, although there are definitely some of them here like Lost World who will probably guarantee to give me hundreds of headaches, so i might aswell not even give them a try because i sit very closely to my TV (room is not that big) and i imagine that could be horror. But I'm also confident i would have a lot of fun with the Classic old 2D Platformers. Thanks for this passionate but still compact Ranking. I imagine if i would've done this it would've been stretched to 4 hours possibly. So i know how much routine and work was put into this. Also thanks to this video I'm not shying away from giving Forces a try since i always thought it looks fun but the critics always hold me back from trying it.
When Nathaniel Bandy did this earlier in 2022, he included double the games you did. And it took longer than his Ranking every Mario game video despite covering less games.
It’s always a pleasure hearing other peoples opinions on the franchise we all love. I think this may be the only list where my opinion differs massively to your own. My personal favourites are,

All agreed upon from me at least. Unleashed for being that one game from my childhood that was pretty awesome, Mania for actually making me wanna replay it over again, SA2 for still being that one childhood game that I put a lot of hours into for the chao and early childhood moments, ZG for actually making take the extra mile to unlock everything and challenging me, and BK for actually having a ending message that I didn't quite pick up until a few years back due to being a kid when I played it back then.
I really actually respect what you say in regards to most things on your list. Colors actually was a game that I adore from back in my middle school days when it came out. Not bad writing and pretty unique ideas with the wisp gimmicks.
I personally love SA2, but eh, almost every Sonic game that I have played entirely aside from the Rivals, Advance series, Boom series, Lost World, Episode 1 and 2, and Advance series are all pretty up there for me. Yeah, some annoying moments here and there, but it was joyful while it lasted. I actually wanna get into Chroncles even through I haven't played it as of yet due to the idea of a Sonic RPG. I actually don't mind the graphics and I am patient enough to see what is going on.
Suffice to say, I am loooking forward to 2023 Sonic: part 2. I do hope to see what you will talk about soon with the Undertale and maybe Deltarune chapters 1-2 EWW with Charri, and espically Paper Mario Sticker Star, as I know most people hate that game with a passion. Thanks for introducing me to some things I did not notice in Charri's videos and of making 2022 a really good year> Happy New Year in 2023!

As for the other games in this video, some of them are either good or bad, but that just depends on your perspective. Also, this list that i just made is my opinion and my opinion alone, and if you don't like it, that's ok. Also, the reason i didn't put Sonic 2 on my list is that i don't like it. It's overrated, in my opinion. there are some stages that i like chemical plant zone, Casino night zone, hill top zone and mystic cave zone. All the other zones are kind of bland in my opinion but other then that i respect peoples opinions on this game but i don't like it as much as everybody else. If this is your favorite game of all time please tell me with that being said this has been Bardock2003 calling out.

I'm glad that you finally got your thoughts out there. While Sonic isn't my favorite franchise, it's still one that I can't look over. He said that they have no plans for SA3 just yet which is understandable because the fact if we're getting next Sonic game than just SA3 it's gonna be like new adventure game style which I don't think if SA3 is going to be. The only whips that are difficult to get used to in sonic colors is the dark blue whip and the green one is hard to control

Kinda off topic but i started playing the Black Knight a month ago(i'm currently playing right now) ,this game is incredible, the mechanic is the same as the secret rings expect sonic does not run automaticly , i can maneuver him without worries, his attack are easy to execute(probably because i'm on emulator with a ps4 controller),can do critical damage and there is duel sequence in boss fights that's a straight 7.5/10 for me.
By any chance, could you tell me how you set up the controls? Because I have a confusion with wii games on Dolphon. I actually might try it out with the steam deck soon enough, so I am looking forward to that.

Welp it's an end of an year of Sonic the hedgehog. It was not the best year but still a good year.
44:15 - 44:43 Took the words right out of my mouth, always hated the Chao Garden for similar reasons (mostly the latter and how it played into 130 emblem-ing SADX).
Which is boring after couple of hours with chao garden, it should have been at least Signs. No matter how hard the chao garden is. At least it's still enjoyable watching taking care of your chao is the most important.
I cant say how much I'm happy that my favorite game (Yes somehow) is at number 7. Love your work Tony

This list is almost exactly my ranking for all the games. The only thing I'd personally change is putting Rush Adventure above Rush, Rush isn't bad but I just like Rush Adventure more because of the levels, music, Blaze still being a major part of it, the true ending being awesome, and Marine being one of my favorite Sonic characters due to her personality and growth. Grinding for materials was a bit iffy, but it doesn't take long at all. The only thing I hate is racing Johnny and the submarine.
Colors was my first video game I ever played when I was 4 or 5 idk. I loved it then, but as soon as I heard about ultimate, I instantly bought it. Loved it even more than the og version. 12/10 game
Sonic Adventure 2’s placement is the only one I highly disagree with but everything else is pretty well explained and understandably ranked in my eyes

Sonic Chronicles makes me wish we had more, but better, Sonic RPG game. There's a fantastic Sonic RPG fan game based on the Sonic SATAM TV show that I highly recommend and shows a Sonic RPG done right.
Also, Sonic 06 is, in my opinion, one of those "It's So Bad, It's Good" category.

If Amy mentioned Sticks in "Sonic Frontiers", it most likely means there's a non-"Sonic Boom" Sticks in the canon universe. It doesn't mean any of the "Sonic Boom" games are canon, it just means there's a version of Sticks in the canon game universe.
Or Ian Flynn got a little too blast happy with the references. There's also a reference to Tangle even though the IDW comics are a confirmed separate continuity. Are you gonna tell me that there's suddenly a Tangle that exists in the main canon even though she's never been mentioned anywhere else?

@@kue5053 Well, I haven’t read a single IDW comic, nor do I want to consider that canon since the comics have been considered non-canon for the longest time now. Suddenly deciding to make them canon just cause the same guy now writes both is a dumb decision that opens a whole new can of worms.
06 gets FAR too much hate, it is not the worst Sonic game and neither is Forces, Shadow, or even Rise Of Lyric.

Man I don’t know why but I wanna cry this video just pushes all my buttons the nostalgia the love the hate and most importantly the memories I’ve only ever had the pleasure of playing a small handful of sonic games but the most memorable was definitely sonic rush adventures that was probably one of my all time favorites I would play it constantly I think like tony my problem with it was the Johnny races they were incredibly hard and at the time of I was still very young and didn’t know how to upgrade the water bike so I eventually just gave up on them and worried more about finding all the hidden islands I always and still wish they would do a remake for this game with voice acting actual cutscenes and much better graphics and maybe even a new port but alas it will probably never happen but I can still dream… the 3DS port for sonic generations was pretty fun too the casino levels were especially fun but the time eater boss battle was ridiculous for me but the rest of the game was incredible especially the races against shadow, silver and metal sonic those were really fun sonic forces was also pretty good I remember spending most of my time playing with the customization screen for the player character that was probably my favorite feature… anyway this list is perfect that’s my opinion tony thanks for the year of sonic I really enjoyed it… also I apologize once again for my long winded comment like I did last time anyway thank you
Even though there are some bad Sonic games atleast we can say there's potential in all these bad games that under the right circumstances they could of been gems.

Even before sonic origins I thought hyper sonic could be canon, the reason was because only in the hyper sonic ending does it show Knuckles staring off at Sonic and Tails like "Man, what good people those two are, I shouldn't have misjudged them like that" instead of only showing Sonic and Tails flying in the tornado.
Tony heres the thing the Titans were not originally opponents for sonic AT FIRST but due to Sage control and still are in the boss fight Giganto Wyvern and Knight Technically count as her bosses
Nice try, but Sage herself isn't involved in any of the fights beyond some slight influence. She says herself that she can't fully control the Titans, just influence their anger.

Forces is a game I would put near the very bottom of my list. Not for being a broken, unpolished game, but for being a game with tons of missed potential. The concept of a game and story where Dr. Eggman has already won is awesome if done right. And I really wanted to like Infinite since he has a good design and a pretty good theme song. But I can’t look past the bad writing, underused concepts, horrible characterization, terrible level design, and Infinite’s lack luster origin story. Although I respect your opinion and I’m glad you are able to find enjoyment out of Forces.
My personal Top 10 Sonic games would be:
1. Sonic Unleashed Xbox 360
2. Sonic Generations
3. Sonic Frontiers
4. Sonic Colors/Colors DS ( These two were my first ever Sonic Games so I have nostalgia for them.)
5. Sonic Adventure 2
6. Sonic Lost World 3DS
7. Sonic Advance 3
8. Sonic Rush
9. Sonic Unleashed Wii (I had this version before the 360 version.)

Sonic 06 has no right to be in the top 10, I for one love most of the characterization in the game and the story too, but you can’t ignore how terrible the bugs, glitches, and how unpolished the game is. It deserves to be in the middle of the list at best, the most optimistic with this game should be middle of the road
I completely agree with your take on Forces, though. It’s my least favorite and my personal worst Sonic game

2) Great villain
3) Lots of characters and well developed stories for silver and shadow
4) interesting stage designs
5) The best OST of the franchise
It’s a rough game, but most sonic games are soulless in reality, so 06 is pretty good actually compared to other 06 games

I spent way too much time in the Chao Garden. In fact I spent a lot more time there than in the main game. I love raising Chaos Angel Devil Running and Swimming type Chao the most. I think I managed to get one that looked very similar to Sonic too. I eventually managed to max all of them out.

What a way to end the year of sonic, this year has arguably been Sonic's best especially with Frontiers and the second sonic movie. Frontiers is my favorite of these games btw. I still think Shadow and 06 are guilty pleasures and free riders is plain horrible. also wouldn't the end from sonic frontiers count as more of a villain than sage? just a thought since the end's body count is on par with that of Mephiles. Yeah overall these were pretty fun to watch, there were some things i disagree on like your opinion on black doom and a few others I won't say since there's too much to cover. but yeah have a happy new year.

I love the chao gardens, it's just so relaxing and the Chao is so adorable.

I mostly like it because it's a fun distraction from the main game and it has a fun atmosphere around it.
Well, my copy of SA2 didn’t come with the manual; so I was screwed over in that regard. Even then, like I said, I found it boring when I did figure it out. I can respect the people who like the Chao Garden, but I don’t respect the people who keep hounding Sonic Team to bring it back.
