Building R2-D2 Part 2: Cutting bits out and sticking bits on!

Part 1 covered preparing the dome for 'proper' work. In Part 2, R2-D2 starts to actually look like R2-D2 after cutting out panels before priming/painting/lacquering and attaching them.
The Holo-Projectors and Radar Eye are also prepared and attached (the sticky out bits on the dome!).

I can understant that. Thanks for keeping us informed.
I'd like you to tell us at the end of the build how much it costs to build an R2. This is a important thing to know before we, start building.
I hope the little lady is not upset by this delay. Thumbs up.

For making paint look like metal use a glossy black undercoat then paint with metallic paint. Be careful of using laquer as it can dull the finish. Also, use rub n buff. Great stuff

I'll probably go with the spray can option when I get round to painting (my budget won't stretch to a metal dome so it's fibreglass for me) What shade of blue have you used?

Hi I’m also building R2D2 on my channel but it’s a nearly half scale and done by deagostini just started the dome

Excellent work and video. Nice to see parts raised from the surface for painting. Which laquer technique did you go with, over wet paint or over sanded?

Sanded. Tried both but I felt that sanded looked better. There wasn't that much in it to be honest but given the amount of time/money invested - I opted to put a bit more effort in and get a finish I was happier with!
