I actually like the Japanese version of this song better than the English (lots of people saying the English one is better). It has nothing to do with languge in my opinion but literally the music. And I just love this one ^^
This was the first OVA I ever owned. I still got the tape and still love this series. This then lead me to Bubblegum Crisis. Magic with Anime has lasted ever since :3
got to be honest brings a tear hearing this intro music, ive seen 100`s of different anime series`s and nothing can compare to the good old days. sad but true eh?
WWWWOOOOOOOWWWWWW What a voice. I was looking for the other one and stumbled upon this. They don't play this in the English version. And I don't have an idea why not.... Cause this is gold
The final DVD from Central Park Media and the Discotek Blu ray restored the original soundtrack and opening/ending themes. The original VHS and initial disc releases were the ones that remixed the score and changed the themes/
I'm going to say the same thing I said about the ending theme...I had NEVER thought that there was another version to this song, I am so used to enjoying the shorter versions of the Open and ending themes that this song is completely different to me. ...And this song still remains my favorite openning theme of ANY anime in the whole world. No matter what anime you throw at me, this openning is the best!

I loved the English OP, but this is equally great. One of the first anime I ever watched, with great characters. Sengoku the wisecracking 80's action hero, Gogul the hacker genius who looks like a meathead, and Benten "David Bowie" cutting off heads with monomolecular fishing line. Genius.
Omoshiroi! Funny thing. I looked up the English translation of the song, and sang it to myself. I had the song with Japanese lyrics playing in my ear, and singing the English lyrics in sync with the tone. Maybe I should try that in Karaoke! (^_^)
Please look for this tune by the homepage and the auction etc. of Amazon. The new article is not being put on the market by Japan now either. I think that it can obtain it in case of being though old CD. I was presented by a certain person.
It had terrible sales. Its production came at the tail end of Japan's economic miracle. Director had intended to tell more stories, as he mentioned in 2008 in an interview.
Anyone know where you can get this song? I've been searching for it for the longest time. Can't find an MP3 and have never ever come across the original Japanese OST. :(
well it's pretty obvious why manga entertainment chose to re-edit the dubbing, music and tone of the show because after seeing the english version then next the original version it's clear the dub is superior in everyway, shape or form.
The English one I heard had singing (on the dvd I got recently). I liked the English voice acting too. It was pretty rough in the languge, but I think it went well with the violence.
Alex Hartsell watch the movie called Lockout with Guy Pearce, he's literally a clone of Sengoku, it's set on a space prison, and there's even a device that is wrapped around someone's neck and then blows up.
I know that Lockout is another Oedo clone. But first movie to do this whole criminals force to work for the government thing was Escape from New York. Also the director of Oedo was heavily inspired by John Carpenter. Also this generation needs Suicide Squad to be the new live action Oedo clone.
@wartarot Ahem. I'll have you know that a lot of girls love this sort of stuff much more. I'll tell you what's wrong with anime today: there's too many goddamn boys squealing over all the moe loli crap!
Yep, l do have to agree about Rory Macfarlane's score. l was really disappointed hearing this instead of his soundtrack on the DVD release. Macfarlane's score went so freaking well with OEDO with that kick ass fusion of ambient/EBM metal music. The original japanese ost sounds so dated and bland in comparison.

I like how they all take fatal injuries, but then they survive. I guess it's because of their technology and badass achievements.

snaplesugar I always prefer the dubs but not when it comes to my music and anime I need my music to be Japanese yeeeah
I prefer this over the English one
Totally agree this one has way more character and just all round better.
The japanese is far better i agree feels more authentic!
There is a definite late 1980s punk rock energy to it and I love it.
They just don't make them like that anymore=(
Uncle Joe no they most certainly do not and it's sad
the 90s were the best time for animes
It's OVA because they don't really continue the story, not longer or lesser, just a Proper length video
Not enough violent gritty anime like this today.

Can’t agree more. Someone should pick it up and continue it.
This was the first OVA I ever owned. I still got the tape and still love this series. This then lead me to Bubblegum Crisis. Magic with Anime has lasted ever since :3
I saw this back in 99, 2000 when I was still high school, this was so underrated, I miss the 80's and 90's style of anime, truly magnificent artwork!
I consider this the A-Team of Anime
omg I love this OVA so much. one of the best cyberpunks I've ever seen.

I have heard people say similar and I had never heard the english version but when I did it wasn't nearly as catchy as this song.

I have the same question
It had terrible sales. Its production came at the tail end of Japan's economic miracle. Director had intended to tell more stories, as he mentioned in 2008 in an interview.
The japanese have a shit taste, simple as.
And no manga too : (
cause the japanese prefer isekai and self insert sissy garbage

Benten is male or female ?
It literally states he is male in his introduction on episode 1 and on his criminal record in the opening.
The anime that inspired the live-action Suicide Squad movie.

Rory Macfarlane's intro is better.
So that's the original opening song. Watched the dub version. Hate to say it... I prefer the dub version
The disappointment of hearing that music, despite it being pretty decent.
Disappointment, why? This theme rocks hard.
The UK soundtrack is like 1 million times better
Lyrics aside, this is no where near as good as the UK soundtrack
perhaps it's easier if you live in japan... ;-)
