They debuted in 2003 as a five member group, and then officially a duo since 2011 after the 3 other members left the grp. Rebel is their 20th anniversary song, a day after Christmas.
Please check out their pre-released mv "DOWN" and also their Killing Voice.

You have to watch their Killing Voice, you're in for a treat! It's a live performance, plus it's a great way to hear a compilation of their songs. They originally had more members but the current two left (the ones in this MV you watched) also sing some of their old songs on Killing Voice.

This take on the Carol of the Bells really is great, it makes sense to use it as it was for their 20th anniversary and they debuted on December 26th. Kenzie is such a talented producer, she's pretty much the one who started and honed this specific "disjointed" music production style!
They are both very talented singers, and were also amazing as 5. They have a lot of songs with dubstep-style breaks by the way it's kind of a signature. For their duo songs I would recommend to listen to Down from the same album,it is more focused on Changmin's high register, and Truth which is a very nice acid jazz inspired song with beautiful runs. I think you'll also enjoy Catch Me (2012) as you used to produce dubstep and electronic music!
As 5 I'd recommend Tonight, Rising Sun and Mirotic for an overview

  • @Greenline0602
    @Greenline0602 29 дней назад +5

U should check out their performance on TVXQ Killing voice . So u can listen to their voice range from 2003 until today.
Yunho is a bass , but because Kpop very rarely explore the bass sound , and Changmin also a tenor , so most of the time, he have to adjust his voice to sing on a higher note .
So he's a bass , but he also have to be able to sing high note , eventhough not as high as Changmin .

I truly believe Kpop is where some producers look to when they just want to do something crazy and want it to find proper appreciation, because no matter how outlandish or out there, theres gonna be a Kpop group up for the challenge, and a Kpop fan who will be absolutely obsessed with it (NCTZENs and Sticker, anyone?)
And TVXQ of course isnt just ANY Kpop group. Their name aptly means "Rising Gods of the East" and considering they started out as a 5 member group in the 2000s, survived an awful departure of three members, South Korean mandatory military service, and over 20 years of activity with nary a dip in popularity- Yeah, they've earned that name. They are very well known for being top reigning vocals, to this day their early 5 member ballad performances can NOT be topped or replicated (though even their 2 member versions of them are absolutely crazy, I recommend Love in the ice & Bolero live especially if you're interested). They are also versatile, dabbling in dubstep with Catch Me, jazzy sounds with Something & Spellbound, and many many more across their countless albums and nowadays solo projects as well (Changmin's Devil especially is also one of those crazy Kpop productions).
In general, they built Kpop, and especially Kpops presence in China and Japan, to such a level that it enabled other groups to step foot there ONLY bcs they paved the way through hardships and work. They are still top contributors to their label, SM Ent, and if you ever want to enjoy amazing vocals and experimental, fresh, unique music outside of TVXQ, that's the place to go. From BoA, one of Kpops first ever female artists, to SNSD, the Queens of Kpop that made some of the earliest steps into the Western market, to Red Velvet with their funky "red" and r&b "velvet" sides, to NCT whose "neo" genre truly changed how other BGs do music, to aespa with their new unique worldview and concept, I have yet to see them fail with producing amazing artists and music. But that's getting a bit too rambly from my side lol.
I thoroughly enjoyed your reaction and explanations about production and vocals, I never rlly paid mind to Yunho's voice in this beyond "Oh wow thats deep" but it was interesting to get an experts insight into it!

It’s so fun to watch you start to react to more k-pop! TVXQ is a great duo. And they have such a wide variety of songs since they’ve been around for so long. This song is a great intro to them to get you interested, and they have other songs that showcase their vocals more.
In terms of other groups that showcase baritone/bass-type vocals in k-pop, as some others have already mentioned, Stray Kids would probably be your best bet. Felix from that group is what comes to most people’s mind for baritone/bass. But a couple of other groups that occasionally showcase lower registers are WayV (I would recommend their song Phantom for a good example of this) and Ateez (I would recommend the song Halazia for a good example). Both of these groups should also give you a good amount to talk about with production and vocals as well!

Since you liked this so much you could also react to 'Down' which was a song from the same album as 'Rebel' that has an mv as well (it was a prerelease I think)! For their older songs 'Chance of Love' is probably my personal favorite :>
I also think you would really like ONF's new release Bye My Monster! They are a group from a small company so idk how many requests you will get for them but their music in general and this title in particular has interesting production for you to talk about and they have a terrific variety of vocal colors and also a baritone member :D

thank you for reaction! It was a very interesting analysis!
Unfortunately kpop groups don't exist for too long and usually break up approximately 7 years after debut when their contracts end. that's why I am especially excited to see that such groups like TVXQ still exist and still release such amazing music. btw TVXQ was my very first kpop group, long before I heard the word kpop for the first time. I didn't continue my kpop journey back then, but "mirotic" is still in my playlist.
Please react to their song "down"!
for another group with a low voice I have immediately thought of Stray Kids! please check them out, they are great. they are very popular, they have interesting production and they produce themselves!
I would recommend "god's menu" or "maniac" for start.
I have seen that you have reacted to EXO and the video will premier soon. I have turned on notification for that video! EXO is my second most favourite kpop group after Stray Kids :)
I hope you will check out Stray Kids as well and will keep reacting to both groups :)

I’m not a hundred percent sure of an exact price but a lot of big companies in the kpop industry spend hundreds of thousands of dollars for music videos, and SM is know for spending a lot on music videos

    • @worldcitizen6542
      @worldcitizen6542 25 дней назад +2

Also, SM is not afraid to invest in/use the latest or the current most sophisticated technology (SM is often being the 1st to use those tech in SK ent industry) in order to bring quality sounds and visuals. Which is one of the aspects that amazes several artists (from other companies) who had a chance to visit SM and see stuffs directly.

Stray kids explicitly Felix in the group. I think a good example is:

18:40 I didn't work on this video specifically; and due to NDAs I can only speak broadly.
Per video, a lot of companies typically budget ₩150mil-500mil, though can be up to ₩1bil. This doesn't incl. song production costs. A full comeback schedule can be 500% the MV cost.

It's worth noting that systemic underpayment is still a huge issue for those of us who work as cast and crew. Thesedays a number of companies are filming with even lower-paid workers in Thailand, Indonesia, et al instead.

It will be great if you react to Korean pop-rock band - DAY6 "Killing voice". Their bassist - Young K is the main lyricist of the group, he wrote almost all their songs. He also a solo artist and radio DJ. A lot of popular K-pop Idols/artists are Young K fans! I`d advise you to check his cover-project - "YOUNG ONE", there`s a lot of English songs (btw he is fluent in it). My fav: "Love Me Less" (Max, Quinn Xcii cover), "What Am I" (Why Don't We cover), "Last Call" (Hudson Thames cover), "Like A Star" (Corinne Bailey Rae cover), "What A Wonderful World (Louis Armstrong cover). TVXQ has some of the best vocals in kpop. I think you should check out Song Sohee, she is trained as a traditional Korean folk singer and for the last several years has been merging into a more modern sound. I would love to see your thoughts on some of the techniques used in her singing. If you decide to check her out I would recommend her performance of "Pollack" on the show immortal songs 2, this performance really showcases the blending of traditional and modern music.

Finally❗️ someone reacting to TVXQ who started out as a 5 member group and ultimately became the fabulous duo Max and Yunho👍 as a suggestion can you also react to some of their older mv's such as "Something"🙏🏼

TVXQ's "Rebel" is their lead track from their 9th full-length Korean album, 20&2 -- 20 years and still 2 members strong -- which was released on their anniversary, Dec. 26, as a celebration of their 20th anniversary. (That's why the song samples the Christmas song "Carol of the Bells," because it's a homage to their Christmastime debut.)
You now need to see them perform "Rebel" with the choreography live. You think it looks crazy in the MV, but they actually do most of that all live as well.
If you haven't yet, you should also check out their pre-release track from this album, called "Down." And you definitely need to check out their Killing Voice performance. Killing Voice was pretty much made for SM Entertainment vocalists and Changmin and U-Know are one of the best examples of that.
TVXQ truly are all-time legends in the music industry. As an SM group, for anyone who knows SM, it should be no surprise that they are outstanding vocalists. TVXQ was originally supposed to be a purely acapella group, so they all have amazing vocals. They actually have several acapella performances in their early days that really showcase how amazing they were as vocalists. TVXQ is one of the reasons why SM is recognized as a vocal powerhouse and why the company has come to be known for having some of the best dancers and vocalists in the industry.
Here is some background to help you understand the dynamics of TVXQ better. TVXQ (English and Chinese)/DBSK (Korean)/ Tohoshinki (Japanese), which each are the abbreviations/acronyms of the words in each language that translates to mean "Rising Gods of the East," debuted in 2003 (Second generation) as a 5 member group. But, in 2010 three of their members left SM Entertainment and the group and formed a new group called JYJ -- the initials of the members: Junsu, Yoochun and Jaejoong. (Up until recently, JYJ was still a group and they still produced music, but because they left SM Entertainment -- one of the most powerful and influential companies in the industry -- on less than ideal terms, it has made it more difficult for them to promote themselves and their music. So the members of JYJ are more known as actors and producers than they are as singers now.)
However, Max/Changmin and U-Know/Yunho continued as TVXQ as a duo. They've been a duo for longer then they ever were a 5 member group. As you can see, even now as a duo they are so talented that they have the vocal range to cover all the parts of a song between the two of them, including rap.
Changmin (the youngest member) was 15 and U-Know was 17 years old when they debuted. Therefore, although they are one of the senior Kpop groups, Changmin is only 35 and U-Know is 37. TVXQ is SM's most senior group that is still active, but U-Know and Changmin are still younger than, or the same age as, many of the members of the legendary groups who came after them within their generation. They are best friends with Super Junior and they pretty much all grew up together. Changmin is also best friends with Minho from SHINee. And Xiumin from EXO says Changmin was one of the reason why he auditioned for SM because he wanted to meet Changmin and become like him.
As you heard, Changmin is known for his powerful high notes -- even more powerful than Onew or Jonghyun from SHINee or Chen and Baekhyun from EXO, who are all known as some of the best vocalists in the whole Kpop industry -- he literally has one of the widest note ranges of almost any Kpop artist. In a high note battle he always wins.
It wouldn't be a TVXQ/Changmin song if we didn't get to hear at least one unbelievable high note from him. (Fun fact: Changmin got married in 2020 and he became a father to a boy in 2022.)
U-Know is known for his dancing and his passion for dancing and singing. He is also the rapper of the group. (U-Know truly loves what he does and doesn't hide it. He will tell you he is proud of his accomplishments and he is proud of his work. His off-the-charts passion and intensity is kind of a running joke within the industry. It's one of the things he is most known for.)
Tohoshinki (TVXQ) are one of the most famous singers in Japan as well, even among Japanese artists. Over the years, I think they have probably spent more time promoting and touring in Japan than they have in Korea, so they are megastars in Japan. And like SHINee and BoA, etc., they are so popular in Japan that they are considered part of the mainstream music scene and they are fluent in Japanese. TVXQ has one of the biggest worldwide fan bases and they sell out some of the largest concert venues in the world. They are one of SM Entertainment's top selling groups, easily selling out concert tours around the world.
TVXQ's fandom is Cassiopeia and their fan color is pearl red -- which is why you see one of the primary colors in most of TVXQ's MVs is red -- and when you attend a TVXQ concert you will see an ocean of red. Welcome to the Cassiopeia fandom. (Their fandom is named after the 5-starred constellation, Cassiopeia, because they originally were 5 members who were supposed to be gods who came from the stars.) If you like TVXQ then you are a Cassi. (In Japan their fans are called BigEast because Tohoshinki are Gods of the East and they have one of the largest fandoms.)

Thank You for TVXQ reaction ❤
A quick summary of TVXQ is their "Killing Voice"..musically I will recommend "Truth" and "Love Line"..actually most of their song are anti-mainstream it's not something that you find in recent generations, but that is just their music style..
And in reality, their solo projects really reflect each member's difference in terms of style..there is this very LONG history about TVXQ, if you want to dig them up..best choice is start from their 5-members era which is 2003-2009..then comparing the musical style after the group split into JYJ and TVXQ (as a duo)..and then comparing their solo projects (U-know, Max, XIA, Jejung, Yuchun)..
TVXQ sometimes pose as a sampling group in SM, you know the first to try everything that is why sometimes you kinda "feel" something similar in other SM artists, that is just SM style..
And my personal opinion about TVXQ is that, they are essay, paper or research material in terms of artistry, music and performance..
If you want to react to something EPIC or WILD you can react to TVXQ "Tri-Angle"..no group has ever covered this song, because this song is crazy, the transition is wild too 😅
TVXQ live stage is also EPIC esp their Japanese stage (they are also known as a J-Pop group called Tohoshinki)..there is this live performance called "Crimson Saga" that remind me so much of Dream Theater, you need to check this out..
TVXQ has been around in the bussiness for 20+ years, they are an excellent Artist eventhough their MV views is not as high compared to other K-Pop artist, there are 2 reasons for this : 1. Like I said, their musical style is not in the mainstream, and 2. Most of the fans prefer watching them live on concert or tours than YT 😅..
They are one of the Artist with highest attendance, they can bring at least 1 million people for a single tour..
TVXQ are famous for their stamina and stability in live performances..
Their stages are always EPIC, exciting and satisfying..
Anyway, thanks for reading my comment, I have to re-write my comment because it got deleted T.T ❤

Not my style. I prefer K-crossover, k-ballads or K-rock from S Korea. K-pop focuses more on the dancing than the vocals. There are also some amazing R&B singers from S Korea. But the group I can’t stop watching is Forestella. They can sing any genre and make it a masterpiece.

You might like Xia Junsu, one of the best vocalist in korean music. He is the former main vocalist of TVXQ, currently a musical/theatre actor.
As others said in comments, TVXQ used to be a five member group with three tenor and two bass, a proper acapella group. They often considered as the best male singing group in k-pop history

I wonder if you have heard that Diana Ankudinova recently gave this wonderful duet with the superb bass Ildar Abdrazakov!
    ruclips.net/video/tn6eyG_cHz8/видео.htmlsi=Yx-NMtPIaJnZOTcB
She doesn't use the wonderful operatic soprano she sprung upon us in "Fly on Wings of Wind" from Borodin's Prince Igor (Polovtsian Dances, slave chorus), but instead sticks to her chest voice, albeit with more vibrato than usual by way of compromise.
But although she isn't singing operatically, it somehow works with Ildar fantastically well.
It would be fascinating to know whether you agree and to hear your analysis!
