@@dobrielagrancharova1355 yeah but the fashion thing was so at the core of Jenny so part of me loves that they stuck with that because it almost worked, as she found her own since of style outside of dressing like upper east side girls.
That's something that really drew me to her character. And she felt like the audience's way in more than Dan

In response to some of the comments- The character of Jenny was just a kid. In fact they all were. To call Jenny’s character evil is to completely disregard the fact that she was a little kid just trying to fit in and make friends. Also she was almost raped right at the start of the show and her entire societal group basically acted like it meant nothing… I feel like that was the biggest issue in that show, not anything JH did…
I wouldnt call her evil. She was just annoying as hell

The funny thing is, nothing Jenny did was nearly as bad as some of the things Chuck, Blair, Dan and Serena did, yet Jenny was the only one who faced repercussions for it both in the show and in the public's opinion of her.
4:46 i love that he says „children“, because that is what Taylor was back then. It‘s disturbing and problematic what happens in the first episode with Chuck - to have a 12 year old child play that and not deal with it in any critical way afterwards is just crazy.. looking back there are so many problematic storylines that could never be done like that today 😅
Personally, I thought Chuck never facing real consequences for what he did in Ep 1 made the show more authentic. So frequently, rich and powerful men commit these atrocious acts and get away with it completely and never face any comeuppance. Its usually on the victim to somehow figure out a way to move on with no justice served. And the way the situation was dealt with in GG, is probably more true to real world than Chuck having to face his past.

It’s crazy to think she wasn’t casted as Hannah Montana for this exact reason “because she was too young” at the time…. Yet got casted on a teen/adult show

I'm so happy to hear they had so much fun filming their scenes & only good memories from each other! GG was filmed in a very tabloid-heavy era where everyone had to be in each other's business and feuding with each other, but it's so refreshing to see this positive outcome so many years later!

Yeah I agree, after season 3 the show went downhill and I think not having Jenny there was a huge part of it.

I’m SO HAPPY with this 😭 I have been obsessed with Taylor and The Pretty Reckless for so long now, as well as with Penn’s work. But I only watched GG a few months ago, and obviously you guys were my favorite from the start (besides Rufus, of course lol). To see Penn’s skills develop, and Taylor finding her own path is incredible ❤
Taylor has been acting since she was a child she was the little girl in the grinch movie & crazy to think she almost was Hannah Montana instead of Miley Cyrus

It’s not about the age , its about the experience and growth and the wisdom you earn along the way
I think when you’ve been acting for so long & start to lose interest in and they want to keep you on the show but you don’t want to be ofcourse you’re gonna start acting out… at the same time she was still a teen back then
As annoying as her character was I think she did a great job in the series and did it so well. Her character was also a very important in the drama of the series and made GG what it is, if it wasn’t for Jenny there wouldn’t been so many fun plotlines against Blair. I loved her as part of the show.
Anyway, it would be great to interview Blake if it’s possible. That would be a fun podcast

And Leighton Meester ! Idk why but I’ve always struggled with my opinion of her. I remember watching a RUclipsrs video about the worst celebrities encounter and one of them was Adam Brody (Leightons husband) They said he was so full of himself and horribly mean. That has changed my perception of her forever 😭 I wish it didn’t though

am I the only one that does not hate Jenny? This month I’ve just started GG, maybe its that she’s younger than other characters. It’s sad that so many people tore her down when she quit acting & gossip girl, not to mention some of the people she worked with said mean things about her & their experiences with her.
She was a teenager still… she acted out but has grown up. Proud of her 😢
Also, she literally started acting from when she was a child… I think people need to be mindful.
Taylor never said she hated gossip girl she just said that she lost interest in acting & wanted to pursue music instead which she did.

she’s was the most interesting character story in the GG.
I watched Gossip Girl a long time ago at this point, when I was an angsty teenager so this might affect my perception of her character and the way I remember her but... I honestly dont remember Jenny being all that bad. I think the real problem was Vanessa, but people clung on to Jenny hate because she got in between people's favorite pairing (Chuck and Blair). But even then, I remember not seeing her as the villain of that arc because it was consensual and Chuck was the one who did Blair wrong, but people still wanted to victimize him and villanize Jenny. I don't know. Maybe I'll rewatch Gossip Girl sometime and I'll see how Jenny was bad. But that's the way I remember her and what I remember thinking about her character.

@@myman2930I think she was 14 by the time it aired but probably 12 by the time she booked it. After they shoot the pilot it has to get picked up by the studio (and they sometimes reshoot the pilot) makes sense that some time had passed.

Jenny made the show interesting, after she left Blair kinda felt lost, I loved Jenny's character on the show
Loved this! Would like to see Ed and hear about his experience and what he thinks made chuck and blair have the most chemistry of all the couples. It isn't often a couple comes around with as much "spark" as them and they really were one of the best parts of GG until the writing took a turn for the worst in season 4-6 lol. Seasons 1-3 were the best.
Ed has repeatedly said that he was in love with Leighton so I think that and the fact that they didn’t actually date added a lot of spark to the characters.

How back then, ppl would confuse the character she was playing for herself and come up to her in the streets yelling at her..
