I swapped out my Parasound Jc3+ for the Chinook and I can say without any hesitation the Manley is better in every way. I couldn’t be happier with the equipment and the service provided by Upscale.

Just pulled the trigger on a SILVER one and received it today very happy also my first tube component. The Chinook separates everything within the songs and makes them 3D sounding in a good way. Running it with a Yamaha A-S3000 and Rega RP8/Dyna 17D3 cart. The main reason is the flexibility of it from rolling tubes to the setting itself. Talked with Kevin and I received it within 2 days of purchase. I highly recommend Upscale Audio for sure thumbs up to Kevin and to Manley for this US made kick ass Tube Phonostage.

What a fantastic product. This is my favorite high end phono pre. It's a little out of my price range so the Parasound JC3 Jr will have to do for now.

I just got my black one set up. A definite upgrade from the Musical Fidelity M6 vinyl, the Upscale Chinook is actual magic.

Genius design! The 50dB of gain would be perfect for Soundsmith carts.

Thinking of getting a Manley Chinook. I bought a Kiseki Blue cartrige and Dr. Feickert table from y'all and I am using a Pro-Ject Tube Box DS. If I go with the Manley, what db gain would I use? I see on the Kiseki website that the Blue is .44 mv output....

That torrid is huge. I would expect to see something of that size in a power amp.

Im in the market for a much higher end phono stage than what is in my preamp already. I'm down to the Parasound JC3+ and this Chinook SE Mk II. Choices!

I bought the JC3+. It's an incredible unit. I'm only using the MM section with a Hana SH MC cartridge but it's mind blowing how much it's impacted the sound for the better.

How about putting the power supply in a separate box?

I would like to get a nice phono stage such as the Manley, but I am wondering would it sound good going through a solid state integrated. I can;t afford to upgrade both right now. Which first, upgrade my NAD integrated or get a tube phono stage like the Chinook, then wait on the amp?

@@GrandTrunkWestern85 I am currently running vintage Polk Audio Monitor 7A's. Paid $140 on craigslist. I have to say they sound better than the price.

Call me crazy, but I think Chinook sounds better than Steelhead by a hair. Not as many options, but I liked Chinook more by a degree or two.

The specs are terrible. I don't want my phono stage to contribute that much noise.

I have had two different versions of the Manley Chinook in my system and they are phenomenal and very quiet. No 'noise' that I could hear. What were you hearing? Perhaps just a grounding issue?

@@danaholmes5493 He's just going off paper specs mate. That being said, my Valab TF1 costs less then a grand, has a seperate regulated power supply, (Both units are similar size to Mission amp sizes) and has gain adjustment on the front 40db MM. 55 and 65 Db for MC. Resistive loading is on the front panel as well. More adjustments internal. It is SS.
Bit wary of valve Phono stages because of noise levels.
