I remember the first time trying on a DB . It felt like it was demanding I stand taller and straighter - maybe revealing its military origins? When I was young I only wore my DB on formal occasions. Now, I wear it at every opportunity.
I think they look more stylish than single breasted jackets. Chris does however make great points in the video how single breasted jackets are more versatile. But in a world of single-breasted guys, be the double-breasted legend. I hope to acquire one someday.
I personally love double-breasted suits over single-breasted suits. I currently own a MTM double-breasted suit in a medium grey color. I plan to get a second one made in a navy blue color. I just feel really elegant when I wear a double-breasted suit. My current one is a 6x2 which is a really classic configuration.
Thank you, Chris. That was six minutes packed with detailed helpful advice. The display examples shown demonstrate just how smart these Rampley & Co jackets look when styled as an outfit. They really stand out.
Useful information. What I particularly liked was that Chris addressed the selection of so called "ticket pockets." This feature is rarely addressed particularly in regard to more formal attire.
Thank you for your thoughtful comment! We’re glad you found Chris's insights on "ticket pockets" helpful. It’s true that details like this often go unnoticed, especially in formal attire.
I own both but if I could I would wear my double breasted suit everyday. I just think there is so much more style and formality without stuffiness to a double breasted suit. It just makes you look good. And who doesn't want to look good.
I never comment on youtube videos (ever) but just wanted to say this was the most helpful video i have ever seen (and i watch programming tutorials). I had a few questions involving double breasted vs single breasted and the difference of side vs center vents etc but you literally covered all my questions in one short video. I just wanted to thank you cause you helped me decide on a style I should have. Kepp up the good work and have a good day.
Love my double breasted suits! Functional wise if its very cold outside I also enjoy wearing a waist coat underneath the jacket to keep me warm. Also when I'd go to sit down and unbotton my jacket, that waist coat would be expossed, providing an extra element to the whole ensamble. Know its not everyones cup of tea but for me its a wonderful option!
When I was a child my mother told me that single breasted suits were best suited for men who were larger in the mid-section than they should have been. My father was a perfect example of that statement. He was 6’0” tall and weighed between 230 and 240 pounds. A lot of it was in his abdominal cavity. He wore double-breasted suits whenever he wore a suit. Today a double-breasted suit is considered to be more formal than a single-breasted suit. Perhaps it was considered more formal six decades ago, I don’t know. It seems that the majority of men who wear double-breasted suits today are heavier than they probably should be, at least in the U.S.A.
I think a well tailored double breasted suit is more formal and more Masculine-macho. the only thing that is close is a vested suit-------for me. We wore DB in the Navy.
Nicely done I currently own five suits: 2 double breasted in black and blue black and 3 single breasted in black, charcoal grey and Teal Green. How im i doing so far
Not necessarily, you can if you want, but you can also keep it buttoned, that's one nice thing about double breasted: you can just get dressed, button it, and forget about it and have a great day or evening.
@@danielimek2210 good morning your statement is true ..i will be wearing a black double breasted sports jacket in church in a few hours..when i sit in the pew i will be unbuttoning my jacket...today every one is irish. HAPPY ST.PATRICK'S DAY!!!!

Excellent video, I have a range of styles, cuts, colours etc but my navy double breasted suit always looks the best for formal occasions
4:59 Superb video! Thank you for the in depth overview.
I got a double-breasted blazer from Circolo 1901 recently to wear when I'm travelling. Love it. Fully sold on double breasted now.

We would totally agree!
i love the jacket he is wearing!!

I find 2 button, single breasted, with a notch lapel, to be much more useful, adaptable even. Dress up or down. Tie or not. So versatile.

We wore DB in the Navy.
Thank you for sharing your perspective! It's great to hear about your experiences with DB suits, especially from your time in the Navy.
Nicely done

Thanks for sharing your collection with us! It sounds like you have a diverse range of suits for various occasions.
Do you need to unbutton the double breasted jacket when going to sit like you would a single breasted jacket?
Yes

HAPPY ST.PATRICK'S DAY!!!!
I prefer double breasted suit in 6x3. It has some Coast Guard or Navy feel.
I cant understand what you say!
As always and has been said by many others, the music is too loud and shouldn't be on these videos at all.
I think the music is perfect, not too loud at all.
I think you have serious listening issue. The music is perfect.
