While it's so abstract and surrealist in style I still like how these really give an idea of the monster proportions of The Megastructure and it's runaway construction. Rooms so big they create their own weather patterns with no coherent purpose at all.
Sharing this in case people don't know: I read this whole animated series was made without animation at all! The pictures are all stopped, being moved or arranged to simulate movement... I did not know that after watching the series... so I re-watched it and I got VERY MUCH impressed...
Beware of the explosions and shards (effect sakuga), they are very well animated. If you are familiar with the 2001 anime Soul Taker, you'll find these Blame! episodes have very curious staffs, except Shinbo himself...
Steve Liu Very well said! Do you have some link speaking about the animation style in "Blame!" ? I did not know Soul Taker! I'll search for more information! Thanks for the tip!
arturFire Noriaki Tetsura is Visual Director for all episodes; he also did many story boards. He made layout and served as main animator for most of the early works directed by the now famous Shinbo Akiyuki: dark, highly graphic color, high contrast; abstract camera movements, often with animated backgrounds. The last work he participated in is Le Portrait de Petite Cossette (2004) - you can definitely see the visual connection in that one too. Unfortunately little is known about Tetsura anymore, even in Japanese cyberspace, as the guy passed away while working in studio on 6/1/2004.
SHINOBI 忍 based on what I know your clearance in the net sphere determines how powerful the weapons you have access too are for the most part, I mean silicon lifeforms are essentially hackers so they would have too have basically gained full control of their sections net sphere if they wanted access too something like this.
Pirated Vegas Crashes Alot I was under the impression that silicon lifeforms were all netsphere entities in some form, they needed chaos in the netsphere too throw off the safe guards from forming organized resistance against them, as well as too keep the administration from directing the safeguards. While they are netsphere entities, they don’t have much functionality, so they need too hack into the netsphere too obtain a greater degree of functionality, but this will never be the same as being registered. It’s like the difference between hacking into a computer too access an account and having your own account. At least that’s how I interpret it so far.

You sure are clever man. Thanks for the tips. I'll read more about it. ;-).
Sorry for Tetsura.
Its a shame they couldn't animate more of the manga. :c
I readed this part in the manga, for the third time, this morning. Just epic.
3:07 - starcraft tank sound.
So... how did silicon lifeforms get their hands on a weapon that powerful?
Who knows..

@@DrLimeGreen this anime is the future. The net gene is the mark of the beast and this transhuman agenda will be accomplished by people like Elon musk
@@rayhert9554the net gene is how they restore the world from chaos. The beast makes chaos and doesn't destroy it.
This animation doesn't really follow the story at all. But still very impressive considering...
I found the manga to be a collection of FlashBacks not a story
.
Yeah 3:20 manga accurate gbe shot
