Hello everybody and thank you all so much for watching! This video was especially tough to get out due to copyright issues (so apologies for the ugly filter) so thank you all for your patience on this one! This video has been well and ready to be released for about three weeks at the time of typing so it was a pain. That said, if you'd like to support me directly, consider supporting me over on Patreon! (www.patreon.com/c/JustinSVA) There, you can find some early previews of stuff coming out for next year that is already in the works! Not to mention, you should definitely check out the companion piece to this video where I eat Godzilla hot wings and be in pain. It's a great time! Check it out here! ruclips.net/video/yoFrjx6F0V0/видео.html&ab_channel=ACynicalArtist Finally, thank you all once again for a fantastic year! I know the next one is going to be even greater and I can't wait to show you all what's coming up! Take care and happy holidays!
Minus 1 is definitely my favorite Godzilla film no portrayal of it as a hero no random collab to fight a random alien. it’s just a threat beyond nature that has to be killed.arguably the best movie of the monster genre
That meme you made at 36:16 defines Godzilla’s eternal existence COMPLETELY well! As long as there’s war, pollution, natural disasters, with the addition of the tremendous amount of love and loyalty from the fans, Godzilla will NEVER be gone.
it is a masterpiece, how the movies put us as the audience related to koichi so much, with all his struggle and how to face it and become a better person then we can appreciate how much peoples around us really care to helping us Great Video man, can't wait for the next video 👏👏👏
@@JustinSVA Bro, i just watch Kung fu hustle 2004, its a unique movie, give it a shot, you'll love it, and maybe another video essay about it (finger cross), thanks Bro
I think you got something wrong. On Odo Island, it was definitely Tachibana who picked up on what Koichi was doing in trying to get away from the war. However, it was another man who praised Koichi for doing what he did. That man ended up getting killed and he was left with the judgement of Tachibana. But it was another man who told Koich what he did. In the scene you can see he's wearing glasses. Tachibana doesn't wear glasses.
The moment Minus One won that VFX Oscar I legit started to tear up, literally never thought I would see the day where big G got recognized. The movie is a masterpiece as well, the acting and music and VFX are perfection
This movie was such a fantastic experience and hope to see more with the announced sequel. Watching this movie the first time in a small theatre where the seats would move and shake at the motion and quaking scenes of the movie, Godzilla invading Ginza was way more intense for me because that feeling of intensity of his footsteps would be reflected with those chair, putting way more feelings of dread and fear to me. Toho cooked with this one and major props to this dedicated team making this beautiful masterpiece 👏
OH, NO. YOU JUST REMINDED ME. There was going to be a whole segment about how I saw this in a 4DX theater and the shaking and intensity were so intense that some old guy left, angry out of his mind. It was fantastic. Lol. But I absolutely love the movie (as you might be able to tell) and am so glad Toho took the time to make this everything it was.
@ LMFAOOOO, thats hilarious 😂, honestly I can recall a lot of my experience of my first viewing of the movie with those seats and having my brother watch it as well with me. I usually get a bit emotional with intense scenes in movies since im a sucker for intense movie moments but for my brother it is rare and to see him be also this invested and emotional during the end of the movie just goes to show this movie went beyond our expectations and walking out that movie theatre we just were driving home being so stocked and hyped with the teaser at the end with Godzilla regenerating from his remaining corpse after the victory of humanity against him 🔥 I guarantee as soon they release a article or trailer for the sequel release date, I will be waiting and seated for it to come out with my brother 🫡
@TheBoundlessBes Oh, you already know that I'm going to be in theaters day one for that sequel. This is actually a very nice story. Thank you for sharing!
This movie simultaneously emphasized the value of teamwork and the coming together of different skillsets while also condemning incompetent and inefficient government and bureaucracy. The way it highlights individual and group heroism as distinctly separate from the acts of any state make it feel almost libertarian in its themes.
It's a crazy difficult choice and I think Minus One just BARELY edges it out for me but it really just depends on the day. Like you said, both are great for completely different reasons.
I think this is the only movie I've seen in a theatre in the last 20 years Thence, it became fairly uncomfortable past the 100 minute mark The visuals were fantastic - without peer Acting was fine The story was dripping with melodrama The ending was preposterous I give this movie 9 thumbs up But Shin gets the 10
Shouldn't bother me, but it does, so I'll clarify. Takao is not a battleship. She is a heavy cruiser. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_cruiser_Takao_(1930)
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved this movie, I just had one question. How in the heck did the guy find the girl after the attack? I mean she got lifted off the train and fell into water and then crawled out and was walking down the street amongst a crowd and somehow he found her right off. How?
Not exactly! I think there's a new 4k release coming out soon that has both! Also, the edition I got (that you can get from the American Godzilla site) has both as well!
how to make Godzilla appeal to US audiences- make the titular monster weak and flimsy so the humans can beat him at the end 😒 it’s a great movie but i find that situation annoying
Weak and flimsy? I honestly couldn't disagree more. Not only is rapid compression under water pressure fatal and deadly in most scenarios, it is more damaging than most other methods used to attempt and defeat Godzilla. Alongside the bomb in the plane, it shows incredible ingenuity for the time.
@don’t get me wrong it’s not in ANY way a critique of the story or the writing- i think the film is a masterpiece in all those regards. That doesn’t change the fact that Godzilla comes across as fairly easy to defeat compared to any other incarnation, besides perhaps the 1998 version.
@@Mil_Spec_Spartan_well at least he isn't dead. And Godzilla had much sillier loses in his history then he had here. While 1998 killed Godzilla with missiles, This movie just knocked out Godzilla with nothing but just a bomb and an airplane. And you can see him regenerating
@ fair, but he still takes damage too easy. can’t take him seriously when some cartoon ass stunt like flying a plane into his mouth will put him totally out of commission.
I didn’t like it I like Godzilla movies that actually has Godzilla doing stuff. This one he was either swimming in the water or walking around as the he was lost on land. They should’ve had the female character die rather than pop back up with horrible injuries.
I don’t understand why people are raving that this was the best one. Every single character arc is undermined at the end. A woman who was picked up and thrown from the force of a nuclear blast isn’t going to be completely unburned with a head wrap and loose arm cast. The pilot basically learned nothing except to pull an eject lever when kamakazing. Why did the pilot give the letter and child to the neighbor woman, when he had already been told about the ejection lever? The 15 minutes of Godzilla were great (except how they killed him, Godzilla repeatedly is shown diving deep and resurfacing quickly, also, what was he standing on?) and the CGI was pretty good. That’s about it though.
@@elkefransiscado you read before you REEE? Obviously I watched it and didn’t care for the writing. If you can’t stand other people pointing out flaws in something you enjoy, I’d suggest seeking therapy.

It should have received a nomination for best picture.
It should have! At least it got the one win.
When she asked "is your war over?" i bawled like a baby. Excellent video man!
First time had me tearful. Second time had me BAWLING. Thank you so much! Really appreciate it!

It's 12 am in the morning, and I'm wrapping Christmas presents. Thank you for keeping me company. Great work 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you for choosing me as your accompaniment! Merry Christmas!
7:24 oh… lol. That’s not Tachibana-san. That’s the mechanic who got yeeted by Godzilla after he ran towards Shikishimas plane.
Fun fact: Godzilla Minus One is a masterpiece!
*Plankton shouting voice* CORRECT!
it is a masterpiece, how the movies put us as the audience related to koichi so much, with all his struggle and how to face it and become a better person then we can appreciate how much peoples around us really care to helping us

It's a crazy difficult choice and I think Minus One just BARELY edges it out for me but it really just depends on the day. Like you said, both are great for completely different reasons.
I could rave about minus one, actually bought the same special edition copy shown in the video, but for me shin Godzilla will always be my favorite

To insult that actor by comparing him to a scumbag like Doug Walker is very disappointing.
