  • I’m seeing all over forums and groups, people getting frustrated with streaming services, region locking, and the constant shuffle of content moving from site to site. More and more people are buying DVD’s again, and the Vinyl record market is booming, what will happen with gaming?

Games are in a weird place where the industry is pushing for Digital and a majority of consumers are adopting it. 50-70% of all game sales are digital now, but there’s a groundswell towards physical with companies like super rare and limited run bringing us more physical than we’ve ever had before

I’ve just found your channel today. It’s strange how over the past few months I’ve gone back to picking up physical media. Wether that be ps3 games. Xbox 360 games. Also blue rays for £1 each. Dvds here in charity shops and car boots are 10-20p a dvd.
My wife and I subscribe to all the streaming services but have enjoyed popping a disc into a dvd or blue ray player and enjoying it.
I forgot about all the extra you got with physical media. Recently we have watched all the Batman ( Christian Bale )
Remakes of planet of the apes.
Moon ( with and without multiple commentaries, remember them!?)
    Master and commander.
    Gladiator. On and on.
It’s been brilliant and we have been showing our children who just about remember discs from portable dvd players from car journeys.
I’m collecting larger from now on too.
    Great video ( video 🤓)

I'm 20 years old and when I was younger I collected a lot of DVDs, mainly because my family didn't have any streaming services at the time.
I stopped due to space reasons but I recently moved to a new apartment where I finally have the room to display a DVD collection.

Personally I just don't feel like signing up for 5+ different streaming services to watch everything that I would care to see. And it's not like I want to watch everything these services have to offer either, so it's kinda like we're back to the olden days when we would sign up for a cable package with 100+ channels but only watch like 5 of them.
We're being made to pay for stuff we don't want, all over again. So me personally, I have avoided all the streaming services at this point and just went with physical media where possible. And that is perhaps one of the biggest advantages of physical media: you pay to enjoy exactly what you want and nothing else.

Xena, Hercules, Battlestar Galactica, Stargate, Star Trek, etc. I was like this stuff is so old now why not just buy it. I want it how it was when I first got my xbox original and ps2 where I just popped in the disc and play. Nowadays you have to install the game with internet. The CD itself just a key that give you access to the game because the game is not actually on the CD which really sucks. When I bought gta 5 for the ps4 pro I thought I could just pop it in and play like right away, but nope I had to download 53gb of it off the internet and it was when my internet wasn't that great for downloading. I miss the old days. Idk why they keep sticking it to us in the ass and with the increasing price in games too. I wish Canadians gamer would protest against the big companies like Sony and Xbox because paying $89.99 with that 13% HST tax that is close to $100 or over a bit. Like wtf? I was fine paying $64 in total for a new game and paying $530 for my ps3 when I had it back then, but this pricing is fucked up. I guess people are ok with it since there has been no complain or protest. P.S with close to $750 for a PS5 I might as well go with the switch OLED or just build a pc that can play games on ultra either 1080p or locked 40-50 fps on 1440p on high to med setting on the latest titles.

Since the middle of PS3 Live the Physical media becomes a "Physical Key" instead of a product. The reasons are many of them, but the most important is the control the developer has over its product. Some developers can deliver an incomplete product to collect profits and later fix the game. If that was not possible believe me a broken or incomplete game in a disc will end up in the garbage and the developers will not make money. I have not seen a game from PS4 and Up to be completed on the disc and that will never happen. In the end, is not related to the user experience, everything is about MONEY, Money, Money.

I think once the old TVs all become a thing of the past, so we all have no choice but to have a 4K TV or nothing, people are going to come out with instead of upscaling, we’ll have downscaling devices.

I saw a stack of MWII games on the back counter from their new release day. I laughed and said "you know that's on gamepass already, it's already downloaded to my xbox...and I don't even like the game but I thought I would give it a quick couple games" They were in total disbelief that it was already on gamepass.,..which would make their entire store irrelevant since they no longer keep even PS3/360 games around anymore.
Sub'd....as your portion about the DVD's is right where I am at. You can't beat watching a DVD straight from the player to the TV. It's so much smoother and having all the extras if always a bonus. I have a friend with a huge Plex libraty that he shares for some of the newer movies and shows. Everything else I watch physical. Yes i have been collecting more and more dvds of late because many of them especially the older horror movies etc you won't find of streaming. services. And if they are on the danger is they will probably be taken down eventually we could literally lose a ton of movies and TV shows if everything is online.
