  • I proudly introduce 'Echo from Beyond'.
Echo from Beyond is an ongoing project that serves as my creative sketchbook, where I push the boundaries of photography and art by merging my photographic archive with the capabilities of AI, making it mixed media.
This project holds a special place alongside my ongoing photographic work and explores previously unimaginable imagery, fuelled by my thoughts, psychedelic experiences and the media I consume. This fusion of elements creates a unique visual language that transcends traditional photography and offers a window into a world full of new possibilities and discoveries.

When you have an idea you should go for it. You never where it'll lead to. Great work

I will say that I prefer the originals in the few examples you have shown. What I like most about your work is the graphic simplicity. Adding to it, only subracts IMO... But keep pushing and creating, excited to see where this goes!

I think the world will be overflowed by beatiful images (first digital and then physical as the Ai learns ways to materialize it's "dreams" into paitings). Since they take only a few minutes to produce, with almost no technical background required, I believe a beautiful image will become less and less valuable overtime. Art and artists will have to evolve into something more complex, where the image is just one of the many steps to create a piece of art. Something similar to what happened when photography was introduced to the world and painters stop trying to depict reality.
In your case, I was able to create something very similar to your work using MJ, but of course it doesn't matter how good it is it will never be a Bastiaan Woudt since it was not made by Bastiaan Woudt. So your previous journey might be that "something more complex" thing that you already have.
I might be terribly wrong with all of this, AI definitely brings a new and exciting challenge to all of us.
    My 2 cents

Thanks for your thoughts. I think it will be even more about the vision of the artist. This new technology is just another tool in the box which I will use to get to what’s important: the image that I want to create.

How have you dealt with the inherent lower resolution of AI. Even MJ is 2048 or 4096 pixels? I think you are usually at 10k for your photography. I'm very glad you embracing
rather than saying AI is garbage. I remember when Photography was not considered rt or valuable.

I admire your work. I believe you are given the liberty to produce art by any means you believe you are honoring your creative spirit. Viewers have the liberty to bring their complete selves including their judgements to their viewing experience. They have the liberty to accept or reject based on their own standards.
To me, the inclusion of AI in the artistic process is like a tossing of the dice, which on some level I think is always happening as we are never in absolute control of anything. As long as the final judgements being made are human... I'm not offended. I will, however, see it as a different "thing" than a photograph, rightly or wrongly. We establish these standards supposedly for the sake of art and humanity. We have the liberty to break them for the same reasons.

It’s another tool in the toolbox. At the end of the day, it’s about the image you create, and not only about the process of how you got there

I'm relieved to hear that you're going to be using photography as the basis for your art and using AI to enhance it or to take it to another level. My fear is that AI will replace conventional photography, and while that may be where we are heading, I, for one, am not ready to abandon photography. It is a relatively young medium and still has much to offer.

@@Bastiaanwoudtofficial but you didn't create it...AI did! If AI had any part of the process in your art. It's not your art anymore....sad day for me as I buy your books. But I won't anymore....

So the same goes for a camera, right? I didn’t make that photograph, the camera did. If you would apply your logic. Sad to hear you leave, especially because I’m very clear, this is just an additional way of making art, besides my photographic projects. But I wish you the best buying books that contain only photographs

What im mostly worried about this, that its just another photoshop wave. Photoshop had similar hype, and in the end its just the same.

Cool comparison. I think both are amazing tools to create images. We can not have enough tools to make art.

@@Bastiaanwoudtofficial I have nothing against tools, photography has always been machine assisted art. There has been many waves of highly manipulated photography, starting from pictorialism. But thats kind of the issue, once you go to that direction, you are competing with paintings. Its the direct touch of a person that made Lucio Fontanas work appealing. The only way to get that into photography, is by using elements of reality. Once you remove that, i think its going to be hard to make the work impactful enough. Photography is already at the fringe, of being too disconnected.

AI is a great tool for idea's. Not original pieces of Artwork. The photo's you presented are achievable if you incorporate arts and crafts such as paint and cut outs. Also screen printing is a great tool.
Art is all about imperfections. Every masterpiece has them.
    Just my opinion

    • @Bastiaanwoudtofficial
      @Bastiaanwoudtofficial  6 месяцев назад

So, art is now all about the technique? For me it’s all about the end result, no matter how you get there. If I didn’t share the way I made them, nobody would have started this discussion.
