Awesome! And your take on the song nailed it too! Pink Floyd dropped The Wall in 1979. "Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2" was the lead single from the album. I was twelve and almost half-way through eighth grade. The song was huge back then, plastered all over the radio. It shot to the top of the charts around the world -- U.S., Europe, South America, Australia, South Africa, in nearly every country that that wasn't ruled by communists. I bought myself a copy of the album sometime in the spring of 1980. I remember because one sunny day three or four of my buddies and I ditched school at lunch to sneak over to my house to listen to it. I lived three blocks away from school and our school lacked fences so it was fairly easy to leave campus when there were no adults around. There is a passage in one of the songs on side one that uses the sound of a police helicopter with an officer shouting through a bull horn and we had the record cranked up so loudly that one of my buddies totally freaked out over it. He was so nervous about ditching school that he mistook that sound effect for the real thing and thought we were busted! We laughed about it and poked fun of him the way teens do, but we took his paranoia as a cue to pack up and head back to school before lunch time ended so we wouldn't get caught. Paranoia befitting the album! Once the initial shock of the chorus fades -- which doesn't take long after you've heard the song dozens of times in a week -- it's easy to see how the song is talking about something deeper entirely. So, in my set at least, we didn't glom onto the song as an anthem of rebellion in the way one might think. The song is just one part of a bigger story. Now there was some parental backlash to the song, but my parents were cool with it. Eventually, we came to see how adults responded to the song as a way to judge whether or not they were cool. The adults who freaked out over the song were not cool. Those who got what it was saying about toxic teachers were cool. And you figured it out straightaway Fay!😎

I was a few years younger than you, in Junior school in England. We were forbidden from singing or even humming the tune in the hall ways.

Saves money to serve the students to themselves. 😈 I mean, you know, the meat grinder and then the teacher yelling about eating your meat. I don't know, I'm probably telling stories over and over by now. But one is from the 4th grade when I fell and hit the back of my head on ice. Back in the class, I couldn't stop crying for some dang reason and the solution was I was sent to the principal who then paddled my bottom. When that didn't work my mom was called. She took me to a doctor and it turned out I had a concussion.

Thanx for your reaction to this milestone of rock music but the video is from the movie released in 1982 and it's worth to see the full movie to understand the album.

This is similar to how it was for kids with SOME teachers in the 1960s and 70s. They may use intimidation and humiliation to get you to conform. Many kids did because they were intimidated and humiliated. The song was a great message. A creative child may have lost confidence at such treatment.

@@RobertH-ol6mw , he later told me it was "good interview" being that I was a college student working at university radio station, but it was a good interview. I wouldn't say he was intense although he had moments of articulate seriousness, but he was was quite amenable and we even had a couple of laughs. It was a 30 minute interview. I have it on CD although the sound quality is a bit noisy. I've been trying to figure out a way to post it yo RUclips, but I have no idea how to do that.

Twice in your video, at 5:10 and 6:40 you say (Freedom), with your fist raised in protest. Did you know that:
The single, as well as the album The Wall, were banned in South Africa in 1980 after it was adopted by supporters of a nationwide school boycott,
protesting instituted racial inequities in education under apartheid.
