They don't know it. It's a black box algorithm. Using deep neural networks the computer figures out what algorithm produces the "best results" using predefined goals and then makes changes accordingly. This way nobody can cheat the algorithm. Kind of.
They need to make this series more realistic and fair like have someone other than Mike come up with the challenge and only give Mike 1 or 2 days to think of a plan. There's really no challenge when you have weeks of advance knowlage and planning to put it all into your favor and the experts only get a very limited amount of time to accomplish their goal. Also make the scenario more realistic. This scenario would never happen in real life and to make things worse you're not just giving yourself the upper hand you're giving the experts a disadvantage by distracting them. Also these are experts not superhumans. Like on the sniper video the whole point was for the sniper to use his expertise to "kill" you but as soon as you got all the "clones" to confuse the sniper it became more of a guessing game rather than actual use of skills which ruin the whole video. This is a great and creative series with so much potential but it's executed very poorly.
