Mrgunsngear can you do a review on the palmetto 6.5 creedmore nobody really has a review that would be cool and I just ordered one lol it's a popular round and you have always done palmetto
I’ve been thinking about getting the COMP4s and now seeing this...I did just get a TA11H and I’m very happy with that!! Your thoughts with the Patrol or COMP4s? Quick Pros and Cons on why to get one over the other or just what you would get if you can only have one? Going on a 300blackout
Congratulations on the 200,000 scribers!! Still baffles my mind on why this channel isn't way more popular. This is definitely one of the top 2A channels there is.
Commenting as an MRO owner: I would recommend just ponying up the cash for the Patrol model, particularly if you are buying the optic for “serious purposes” like hardcore basement operations. You will wind up wanting the kill flash and caps anyway. By the time you buy these add-ons for the base model MRO, you could have just gotten a Patrol which has these features purpose built into the optic. My 2 cents. Great optic either way.
@Jim Draper I have both personally I liked the MRO pro a lot mainly because of the brightness adjustment on top. Other than that the T2 would be better if you wanted a slim profile like on a sbr I have my T2 on my Arsenal AK. Personally if money came down to it and I was building a 14.5 AR I go MRO. Their both great red dots.
A killflashes visibility is directly related to the magnification level. A true 1x can see it that close to the glass, if you can't see it, there is a slight magnification in the front lense.
Mrgunsngear Channel also! I’m getting a trijicon. But I just found out that they are coming out with an “MRO HD” on Monday. Did you know this? I was told from a very credible source, but can’t find any information on it.
The battery issue was due to user error. People didn't read the instructions, and failed to properly install the battery. Trijicon started shipping it with the battery already installed to prevent people breaking it by smashing the battery housing if improperly seating the battery then screwing down the cap
It's not that delicate.. but if you get resistance screwing on a battery cap and your first reaction is to keep on torquing down harder and harder then maybe you've just fucked up your MRO and it's your fault.
In addition to an early production MRO, I also have a new Aimpoint T2 and an older Aimpoint Carbine Optic (ACO). The Aimpoints seem to do a better job of coping with my astigmatism than the MRO, particularly the T2. My budget Primary Arms micro presents also presents a tighter dot than the MRO. While the MRO has several desirable features, I don't care for the image and dot presentation as much as that of the Aimpoints. My next purchase will be an Aimpoint PRO - by the time you get a decent QD mount on both sights, the difference in weight relative to an MRO isn't noticeable on an AR
PSA. I have the original MRO and the battery only lasted about 18 months it wasn't totally dead but very dim even on the highest setting. I still love it and a $3 battery every 18 months isn't bad
It is the post (after) 89,000 serial number that has the decreased magnification (newer models). So under 89K has the 1.05x or whatever. I have one that's 86k and I don't mind it at all. No problem with both eyes open shooting.
I had one for a year in a half, traded it for a custom 19 a deal I couldn't refuse lol plan on picking up another one there GREAT optics. I'd take these over a T1 or H1 especially for the money and FOV, the ones I've run across are cheaper then the aim point! IMO
Those covers are still easier than installing a Tango Down housing with lense covers. I just bought a TD cover for my MRO... It's awesome, but installing it takes a miracle and an act of Congress...
Very cool sight and your production values are beyond excellent. I wonder out of your 201K subs., how many are military and/or LE ? A lot of useful info for professional users. Keep up the good work!
The dot died on one of my early model MRO's, I'm guessing it was a battery contact issue, not really sure I Trjicon customer service handled it with no fuss and the 2 I have now since then have been fine for about 1k rounds each and being left on for a year
The battery contact issue was user error related. People weren't putting the battery in the housing correctly and when they screwed on the cap they would torque it down harder and harder ignoring the unusual resistance until it crushed the contacts
Anyone considering using this RDS for “duty” use, please look into the amount of parallax it has at 50 yards and in when compared to an Aimpoint. Not the end of the world, but you should at least be aware of this if you’re going to purchase it.
The Patrol looks to be really nice. I was strongly considering one but due to the money I put into my Christmas AR, I'll be going with the standard. Might pick up a patrol around spring though. I'm def a fan.
When i worked in the armory we had to Dremel them flat on our ACOGs, we called it the god mod. I always thought that it was dumb and I'm not very religious myself.
I really like the looks of this optic, and the kill flash is nice! I’ve been an Aimpoint guy and they’re hard to beat but I’m gonna give optic a try! I know Trijicon are as tough as a pig snooter!
If a man take a wife, and go in unto her and hate her...and say, “this woman have I taken, and I came in unto her, and I did not find her a virgin...” then they shall bring out the damsel unto the entrance of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die. -Deuteronomy 22:13-21. Put that on an optic and I might buy it.
For the US government military whose country's official motto is "In God We Trust" and America's Founding Fathers were mostly all bible believing God worshipers including Christians, the US military making a big deal about an unobtrusive bible text on their optics is totally ridiculous! "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." John Adams “It can not be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians, not on religions, but on the gospel of Jesus Christ!” Patrick Henry “We have staked the whole future of American civilization, not upon government, far from it. We’ve staked the future of all our political institutions upon our capacity to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God.” James Madison "You can't have National morality apart from religious principle.” George Washington "Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty, as well as the privilege and interest of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers." John Jay, U.S. Chief Justice, Founding Father "Intelligence, patriotism, Christianity, and a firm reliance on Him, who has never yet forsaken this favored land, are still competent to adjust, in the best way, all our present difficulty." Abraham Lincoln
Awesome. I like the Patrol model better than the original. Better start saving. Could you tell me which mount I'd need if I wanted to use the MRO Patrol with an EO Tech 3x Magnifier?
Haha, I never even noticed this came out. I agree with the Aimpoint ARDs, I couldn't stand them. Which is strange because they are musts for me on actual scopes (it is very bright in west Texas) and I never notice them in that application.
FWIW, I personally think that the average individual would be better off purchasing the standard MRO (no mount). That will not only save you money but also affords you the option of your preferred optic mount. Perhaps this is your first optic and you don't know whether absolute co-witness or lower one-third is more to your liking. By choosing the standard MRO, you could potentially save yourself some money by purchasing some affordable mounts in both height configurations and then throw some rounds down range. Once you have made your conclusion, then proceed to go out and purchase a Geissele mount (or whatever) in your preferred height and manufacturer. It's okay to have extra optic mounts on hand so don't worry about what to do with the cheap ones you initially bought. We all have a parts bin. It's inevitable in this community. Of course the Patrol offers a turn key version right off the mark, so I understand it's placement too. Plus the added benefit of perceived durability is a bonus, albeit one that the average person probably doesn't need. I mention all of this because I recently helped my 'UPS Store' guy with his Aero Precision build and he happened to be at the optic part of his project. He originally wanted a NightForce scope, but I convinced him to research red dots with the build and end-use he had in mind. Plus he has champagne tastes on a beer budget (but then again - don't we all..). Lastly, congratulations on achieving 200,000+ subscribers Mike! Keep up the great work my friend.
Is the same distortion apparent when behind a magnifier as the original MRO? This was not covered in the review but i saw you using a G33 during footage. I was hoping they would correct this issue like the T2
Just fyi, loktite 262 (blu) isn’t compatible with electro-mechanical devices. Do you use a cca/pcb compatible thread locker? I also like adjustable locktite. I just purchased an mro hd, so I’m not sure if the threads are around any pcb components. I do know on my trijicon rmr the fasteners are close to a pcb.
Great video thank's for taking the time to make it. I have a question though: When you remove the kill flash does the protective cap still fit or will it only go on when the kill flash is screwed in ? Now about certain kill flashes letting less light in, it can only be because the size and amount of holes the kill flash has as well as the size of the front element. As for any lens or other optical devices the size of the front element determines how much light gets to the optical element or sensor in the case of cameras. Seems to me the diameter of the MRP patrol is slightly bigger than the one on the regular MRO to compensate for the light loss the kill flash induces. At least that's what it looks like in the video.
Great review. I have the original MRO and like it alot so far. What is that pistol carbine your shooting in the video? Some 9mm build I presume. What kind of mags does it use? I ask because I'm looking to build one myself.
I wonder if just ordering from LaRue with one of their QD sites would be way to avoid mounting issue. Is the mount supplied supposed to be a QD-type mount?
The only difference I can seen is the lens caps/kill flash, and the better mount on the patrol. On Trijicons site a damn flip up kill flash starts at $59 and goes up to $99, and that does not include a rear cap. The patrol QD mount goes for $145 compare the regular MRO mount which goes for $60.
I think "purpose" is going to be individual-driven. If you like the added features that the Patrol offers, then you'll find the value there. If not, you won't. It's not a right or wrong, it's simply preference. Yes, there's a price difference, of course. So if you think it's worth the extra $200-300 (depending on how/where you get same added features), then it's either a solid deal or you'll just pass. If you do like those particular features, I don't think the price difference is outrageous. To add a QD mount ($145), a slip-on kill flash ($70), and lens covers ($160) to the base MRO would total $375 (granted, that's Trijicon's MSRP, and I'm 100% sure you can find 3rd party offerings for less). But to compare just MRO to MRO Patrol pricing, the @$300 increase appears to be a fair deal... again, IF YOU WANT THOSE FEATURES.
With the aimpoint PRO going for $350-375 on sales throughout the year, it is is a tough choice. The trijicon MRO Patrol has some advantages over the Aimpoint, but for the price is it worth it? Up to personal preferences, and budget in the end. For the price of 2 trijicons you can have 3 aimpoint pros. Just s thought.
TacticalOwl7 you can find the standard MRO on sale with a mount for around $425. I think the size difference is what does it for me. The aimpoint is still a great optic.
Is mounting location on an upper personal preference? I see you placed them by the gas ports on the BCG. Just wondering if that's what's best or just what you did for sake of demonstration.
Hell it might be a cow! I had a rancher tell me one time all his cows were black. I saw this big mass coming out of the brush in a ditch that I thought was a massive hog. Luckily I held the shot as it turned out to be a cow
Can you use a 3x magnifier with the MRO Patrol? I've been looking around trying to find someone whos using it paired with one but it seems that everyone only runs just the red dot.
Cool thanks brother. Got an MRO already and an extra mount, optics planet had the patrols with no mounts on a pretty good deal. Thanks for the feedback
I have a regular flavored MRO with the tango down “dust cover” which includes dust covers that are clear. Great RDS, very satisfied and I would buy another. I am not bothered by the slight “fish eye” or the blue tint when looking through the scope. Great video as always.
I noticed the killflash on the M68 being a real pain. The first time when zeroing on the 300m 25 yard silhouette the center mass of the target was sitting right behind a part of the honeycomb. And I could actually see myself looking on either side of the part covering center, and it was difficult to hit. Now this probably isn't an every case basis. I'm sure somebody has the right threads, and right killflash arrangement to have a proper view of target. Just something I noticed and disliked
Are the MRO and patrol mounting points the same? Like if you have an upgraded mount for the standard MRO and decide to buy a patrol, will your previous mount work on the patrol? Thanks.
What is the dot supposed to look like? I just bought an MRO but the dot is blurry to me, not a small crisp dot. More starry looking. It this just my eyes?
Have you ever had a problem with the mount coming loose on the rail? Just received my Mro with this mount. and when tightened down hand tight it doesn’t give me a real secure feeling it’s not gonna loosen on it own

His channel is probably being suppressed by RUclips, because of his pro-American views. But, we can spread the word about his channel ourselves!

I just got a MRO with 1/3 mount for 368 shipped from optics planet. The patrol looks like the standard with extended caps.
It is the post (after) 89,000 serial number that has the decreased magnification (newer models). So under 89K has the 1.05x or whatever. I have one that's 86k and I don't mind it at all. No problem with both eyes open shooting.
that's only for the standards; not the Patrols. I specifically asked Trijicon about this.
Really good review. Thanks for the detail.

Awesome review. Thanks, it helped me decide on purchasing one.
Botach just had a killer deal in November. $393 with a free American Defense mount and free ship for the regular Mro.
Can't wait to go scuba diving with my $550 MRO.
I can’t wait to do my tactical amphibious operations in my pool this summer!
great review..... been on the fence for one of these (MRO vs Patrol version)..... choices choices
Thank you
A.R.M.S. makes an awesome QD mount as well.
Great review!
Thank you for doing this review. Been on the fence between this and an Eotech. Now I’m taking a “why not both?” attitude about it lol

The slow motion portion of the video where I can see the barrel or handguard viberation is interesting.
Right?! I've never seen a barrel wobble like that!! WTF?! Someone please explain this ish @ 17:25!

Try a Blackhawk thumb grip for use with the stub grip. You can run it high or low. It puts your thumb pointing at what your objective may be.

Sad to see the Patrol still has that blue-ish tint. I got rid of my MRO for an H-2 and the glass on the H-2 is incredibly clear.
Aimpoints have green tint, trijicons have blue tint. Personal preference I guess.
Aimpoint T2 doesn't have, or least negligible, tint.

MRO looks un proportioned patrol looks better imo
What laser is that on the front of his rifle from the intro?
With the aimpoint PRO going for $350-375 on sales throughout the year, it is is a tough choice. The trijicon MRO Patrol has some advantages over the Aimpoint, but for the price is it worth it? Up to personal preferences, and budget in the end. For the price of 2 trijicons you can have 3 aimpoint pros. Just s thought.
TacticalOwl7 you can find the standard MRO on sale with a mount for around $425. I think the size difference is what does it for me. The aimpoint is still a great optic.
I agree, for size and weight the MRO has it going on! Cheers!
Is mounting location on an upper personal preference? I see you placed them by the gas ports on the BCG. Just wondering if that's what's best or just what you did for sake of demonstration.
It's personal pref. There are pros and cons to where you place it, that you'll have to research yourself because it's a lot for one youtube comment.
He mentioned religion! AND GUNS. IN THE SAME VIDEO!!!!!!!!!! RUclips strike incoming.
..... aaaaaaand BANNED.
Are mounts interchangeable between the MRO and MRO patrol ? Seems like they would be but sometimes they throw us a curve ball
glenlivett78 Mounts are the same, if it works on the MRO it will work on Patrol.
Off topic question. I've got a 12" AR and was wondering do you think a 5x Steiner prism optic would be too much? I would also add a RMR.
Hey man what the hell is going on with the barrel starting at 17:22???? It's flexing all over the place.
that's completely normal on a free float gun gun. You just never see it unless it's recording at 480FPS or more.
Mrgunsngear Channel indeed
And here we go...
Indeed
Can you buy flip up caps for the smaller mro?
you can
Are the MRO and patrol mounting points the same? Like if you have an upgraded mount for the standard MRO and decide to buy a patrol, will your previous mount work on the patrol? Thanks.
Is there a lower mount for it?
What is the dot supposed to look like? I just bought an MRO but the dot is blurry to me, not a small crisp dot. More starry looking. It this just my eyes?
you may have astigmatism
Have you ever had a problem with the mount coming loose on the rail?
Just received my Mro with this mount. and when tightened down hand tight it doesn’t give me a real secure feeling it’s not gonna loosen on it own
What ended up happening?
@@michaelshaw4962 it’s never came loose, then again I check it a lot. Have 6240 rds down the tube since install 11.5” 5.56.
What kind of iron sights do you have on that gun
Does it share the same footprint as the original MRO?
