- We sailed Mozart from Tincan Bay to Hervey Bay in the 40th annual Bay to Bay race. None of us has raced much before, so just getting across the line on time was a major feat. Once across the line, the attrition began. We were aiming to be the last boat standing, and as it turned out it wasn't far from the truth, with many retirements, knockdowns and broken bits and pieces. New to trailer sailing. This looked like fun. I recently bought "Good Vibrations", a Sonata 26. We will be there next year!
Highly recommended but a bit less rain would be nice.
Nostalgia! I've done four Bay to Bays on Imagine. My dad Skippered nine consecutive races from the inauguration. The most difficult part of this race is reaching the mark at Ungowa before the tide turns north.
It’s a great race. You have quite a history there. Our main challenge was making it to the start on time.
@Chris Joseph if you want a crew member, I'd love to do the race again.
Those Ross 780’s are a quick yacht (around 9 minute mark), not rated as a Sportsboat but can go just as fast as one!
They sure do. I crewed on one with a friend back in the 90s. They go like the clappers!
If you are the first boat you can't enjoy the view of the boats around you. Down the back where you can watch and comment on each boat is a good tactic. Congrats on using ya noggin.
