In my opinion, Ogre is the best choice for a shaman on TLP or Live. Frontal-stun immunity is the only worthwhile racial ability left in the game. However, I would go with Troll on P99.
1 thing many don't realize. Ogres can't do the iksar cudgel quests until illusion iksar potions exist 4 or so expansions after kunark. It's an amazing epic quality item. Trolls can
A little trick with a low-level shaman, to heal yourself, use inner fire instead of the heal, it's been awhile I don't remember which it is offhand , it's either cheaper on Mana or better heals, I just remember doing it lol
I’m gonna make troll shaman and either a warrior or shadow knight to duo with, can’t decide. And when kunark comes out, my troll shaman will buff a twink iksar monk. Any thought to warrior or sk? I don’t know warrior changes since 2003, i read they have provoke. Sk is probably “better” for snap aggro. Idunno.
The SK is a better choice in my opinion. With the SK you get snare and FD which allows you to split camps. I think the monk is better than all of them because when get higher leveled, you'll need more DPS and monks are the king of melee dps through kunark for sure!
what gear do you want for each slot at 50? do you have a video on that? and also i made a troll and a ogre shaman and leveled each to 13 or aradune and so far the ogres frontal stun and ability to tank has seemed better for me then the trolls regen.
I don't have a video on it, but at level 50 you should have a mix of Planar armor and WIS items. Glad the ogre is going well. Later on you won't be doing much tanking since the mobs hit a lot harder.
I'm going to go Troll Shaman and Human Monk so I went ahead and started two new toons. No power level, no twinking.. nada. Just naked newbies I finally hit level 3 with both of them (not in the same zone, in the newbie zones for each) Hard mode for sure. Haven't run to the guards that much since I was a newbie in 1999 What about a guide to quests for newbies?? About the only one I remember is from blackburrow and I think it was some type of teeth that you handed into a guy in Qeynos. A mail quest that I did as a young chanter in Felwithe.
The shaman/monk combo gets strongers as time goes on. As long as the monk levels up H2H, you'll be in great shape! As for quests, I have a video called, "The first quest to do when starting new on a TLP". That quest shows you how to do the most profitable section of the mail quest.
Ogre shaman if you plan to use your shaman to root crowd control as they can't be stunned from the front. Troll shaman for reduced downtime in group or duo content. Barbarians don't have any worthwhile advantages to negate their shit starting zone which will only become more annoying the more you origin.
I think you should make the shaman now and if you want to change you can get the buy the race change. This is assuming you're going to make a Monk/Shaman combo. If you just want to go shaman and you're going to be on the server for a long time, you can wait until Kunark for the Iksar.
ogre wins hands down, no frontal stun cmon man, frontal stun over a little regen any day. once u get torpor doesn't matter. but than no frontal stun is best hands down....
Innoruuk troll gets a clickie that casts a low level necro dot snare. The snare is game changing for stopping runners when you don’t have a teammate with snare.
Yay shaman love! -1 cookie for using the new Troll and Ogre models though :( Old ones are just too awesome. +1 cookie for Capt. Quinn reference though ;) Honestly, troll shaman is great but I loathe the starting area. I'd have to grab my crap and move to Neriak. One high point for me with barbarian shaman though is the starting area. I love the tundra glaciers. Furs are plentiful, rusty weapons to sharpen up and meats for cooking. Blackburrow really becomes a meeting point for folks so grouping isnt that bad, at least ad a solo player without a steady group. Nice guide. Looking forward to more shaman stuff. Maybe a short series of a shaman/monk play? Great stuff man, thanks!
I totally agree on the horrible starting area! I have another video coming out that will show how to make the run to the commonlands and Neriak from Innothule. I will do a Monk/Shaman video too. I did one back in 2017 for Agnarr, but this one will be higher level so that people can see a more developed Monk/Shaman team.
@@doctornachoz8099 Funny enough, I did just that this morning for giggles. Made a troll shammy on Agnarr and ran him home to Neriak. Problem is, I remember there being shaman GMs and spell vendors in the Foreign Qtr. Nothing there. Guards yes, GMs no. I am not sure if its just a server difference or I am recalling things wrong. Run isn't horrible. Not being eaten by Young Kodiaks in the Commons was the hardest part lol. As a viewer request, and from a returning player who has been gone for longer then I care to admit. Could you do some vids on the crafting system? Crafting really seems to have changed a fair bit. Dont deep-dive down that rabbit hole, but maybe just a high level 'this is what crafts do what, worth doing and/or high level pay-offs.' I recall some crafts weren't worth doing and Research wasn't even a thing when I played regularly.
What players do it get the troll up to neriak and make a mule back in grobb. The mule is sent money through parcels and in turn buys spells which are sent back through the parcel system. The nice thing about that is your character can stay out forever and never needs to come back to town. Sorry about crafting, but I know almost zero about it :(
At level 5 you can make it, but earlier it is like insta death since you have to make it to the qeynos hills side and there are mobs over there waiting. If you get the SoW and Lev potion you might be able to lev over the middle or train the stuff in a weird way which will create an opening to the Qeynos side.

Great guide! Going with Monk/Druid to start and I'll Plevel a Shaman for Kunark. Them ports and damage shields are great in Classic!
That's a good plan. You can make the Iksar Shaman once Kunark is out.
Amazing video cm99! Thank you so much for this. Time Antithesis item from Plane of Time is amazing for shm. 3 second cast 90% slow that uses no mana.
Thanks for the tips!

I just looked it's same mana, but it heals you better then minor heal at first.
Healing with inner fire is the same, but you get the added benefit of leveling up abjuration.
@@doctornachoz8099 I knew there was a reason I done it but it's been so long I couldn't remember why

CM99games heck yeah!
CM99games my shaman is lvl 3 so far, Zajust. Gonna get him 9 for sow then run to wherever my melee is and gimp PL him
Thank you for these videos!

And get your Fungi Tunic and be a mana beast even without C2!

I got a mage to 22 on teek, research made me want to play a shaman
REsearch is a pain. I just skip it and buy the spells from other players.

I agree on the poor barbs. But they do look like Stone Cold Steve Austin!
@@doctornachoz8099 I do like their look too :(

Good point. Same regen as troll, but they do have a tail and scales :)
Troll is still tops because of the enhanced regen as well as the Inny worshippers getting the snare necklace.
Ranger Gatting!!! lol

That inny snare necklace is nice though
You get SoW at 9, travel isn't a problem.
