- USE 1080p HD AND CRANK UP THE VOLUME! =D
The good stuff is at 2:25.
I've seen countless RUclips videos over the years of the corps performing this warm-up, and seeing this live in person is absolutely breathtaking. Even the good microphone doesn't give this video justice. Goosebumps
Stay tuned for more!
Camera: Canon Vixia HF R100 Digital Camcorder
Microphone: Azden SMX-10 Stereo Microphone
Location: Mayde Creek High School in Houston, TX
i love the quality of this recording, sounds like I'm there in person! Gives me goosebumps every time i hear canon =P
Same old stuff as we battled in the 1970’s - attacks, releases, mental lapses, intonation, tone quality, articulation. And the biggie...musicianship.
Idk about y'all but I really like his conducting
I wouldn't be too worried about execution of warm-up exercises right after lunch in the middle of a scorching humid July day in Houston, considering that they did end up getting third in brass by the end of the season.
I agree with earlier post that its really nice to hear the instructor feedback. I hope it becomes a trend on drum corps RUclips videos.
Oh Almighty God! I bet my Harley that Mr. Pachelbel has Up There some wide, resplendent and happy smile in his face seeing this magical version!
Love this Hornline!
I find it funny that while all other corps warm up with actual warmups and playing through snippets of their show that year while Phantom insists on pulling out old show music... Sometimes I think it's just a way to quench all the super-Phans' fangirling thirst.
That sounded like an effective rehearsal warm-up to me! It's a way to get the corps focused on greatness at shows too though - and I think playing great moments in your corps' history can be a great tool to center the emotions of the hornline. Helps the membership to understand that they can create more of those great moments again, tonight. My two cents.
Man... I want this so bad..
The description is wrong: the "good stuff" is the whole video
mmm get chills everytime
OH YEAH! THATS THE STUFF!
Right from 02:26 things get really ultraterrennial.
I like how everyone is commenting on what people are wearing.
1. It's drum corps.
2. Are you going to ignore the sounds they are making or?
is 1:55 supposed to be like a half valve exercise or something?
Houston TOC was my home show :D i also think this TOC was the first show phantom beat cadets with a 90.-somethin, i give that hornline legit props
but since im in SCV, Go VANGUARD!!!
Its called drum corps and you can be apart of it!
Josh Scott, he's now Round Rock High School assistant band director. He's good..
NeTxGrl he's a director at vista ridge now
Yes, I know he went to VR. Unfortunately.......not anymore.
There are a few horn lines that care about quality ALL the time.
Great points. Not to mention the tech seems to have a very fast paced and frantic teaching style that could cause attacks and releases to be a bit unfocused. I for one always liked techs like this. Less down time means less chance you become bored and the rehearsal goes quicker that way.
But the canon is in B Flat
Yea, exactly. I went to a BD rehearsal this summer. During the run-through and show they had great attacks and releases. During warmup and rehearsal the attacks and releases were terrible and the low brass didn't seem to understand immediacy of sound. So... yea, I don't need to be careful.
Aww no Firebird ending. :(
POWER
recorded on my birthday... i was rehearsing with BDB :D
My birthday!
Of course you do make a legit point...
Damn.
What are they doing towards the end that sounds like bees buzzing around?
The weird buzzing sound they make is because they close their valves halfway and blow hard to build up pressure and then when they fully press them down a lot more sound comes out
we can make excuses for imperfection all we want.
Love to be in this band considering I am only a freshmen but love to be in this band
Did you make it?
With those horn angles there's no way he can't hear it.
Have you even marched?!
So Cute
The answer lies within conductor style. One day of a completely different instructor doing warmups and cutoffs in unusual places and with a MUCH faster pattern than the actual caption head. You can call them excuses as soon as you show me a season's worth of perfect warmups from your corps
They are hurting might as well give them some coffee
He's a Blue Devil, be careful about your last challenge.
They didn't play the last chord.
1:54 เป่าไงอ่ะ จะมีใครตอบเราได้มั้ย

Shut up DM, let the horn tech do his job. Where is the horn tech?
