Before he even played a game I said they shouldn't have signed him. One season with good sack numbers isn't a reason to put your future into someone. I now see why Hasson is sitting out. Hasson had years of good sack numbers before he came to the eagles.
I believe the biggest culprits with the poor Eagles defense are Sirianni and Vic Fangio. The D-Line is playing 1 1/2 gap scheme, causing passive play and initial snap hesitation. Passive, not aggressive. Fangio, along with the Fangio coaching tree, have been below average the past 2 seasons. Sirianni prefers the Fangio scheme, and his DC hires show that the past 3 years he's been head coach. Fangio's scheme has a lot of light boxes and free releases for the receivers. Philly loves tough, aggressive defenses like Jim Johnson, Bud Carson and Buddy Ryan. Even Jim Shwartz had his D-Line playing aggressive with his Wide-9. Howie and Sirianni need to read the Philly fan room, PLEASE hire an aggressive Defensive Coordinator!!!
It looks like Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter were gassed in the clips I saw. Isaiah Rodgers should be on the field, no questions asked if he’s healthy and Q should slide to the nickel. They didn’t pick up Isaiah Rodgers to ride the bench when he was one of the best CBs in football a few years ago

The real problem with the Birds is the Offense. Jalen Hurts is supposed to be one of the best QBs, this game he had an all pro WR, TE, and RB. They scored 21 points. That’s not enough points to win a game in the modern NFL. 16 games were played in week 2. If you score 21 points, you only win 5 of the 16 games. It’s not enough scoring. Period.
I agree that Thomas Booker somehow was the best defensive linemen yesterday. He was flying to the ball and putting 100% into everything. He probably had more gas to do that because of his limited snaps but I love the hustle and effort there. Jalen Carter is too talented not win some of his 1 on 1 matchups. I know Chris Lindstrom is one of the best guards in the league but Carter needs to be better. And Jordan Davis, Bryce Huff, Nolan Smith and Josh Sweat all need to be much better especially Huff. Huff like people have said is unplayable. You gotta keep contain.

I'm all for Booker getting some more playing time but we need to see him through some more plays. I would like to see Hunt out there. My biggest concern is Huff. We need to get something out of the D Line. We will get it done at New Orleans. Great video.

As Eagle fans, I think we are a part of the problem. Including the media. One lost and everyone loses their mind. It is still the second game and we should have won. The season is a journey and we treat it like a one game tournament.

Only way they can turn this around is if they start signing new players to the defense. And offense gets their shit together other then that we got alot of work to do. Until then we're cooked.
No one is talking about how GASSED some of the Eagles are in the 3rd quarter. Getting paid millions and having no cardio strength leads to breakdowns in all other aspects of the game. I don't care how fast or strong the stats may say players are.
The offense was almost as bad as the defense. Seemed like no one was open the whole game. Their best drive came when Hurts gave up throwing the ball and just ran for all the yards, that should be the last resort, not the first. They’ve got to get open, and get Dotson involved.
Acho broke that down perfectly! The second play where Q is in man but watching the QB is exactly what Slay did on the TD. Not sure if that's coaching or just bad eyes like Acho was saying.
As bad as that loss was, I’d rather this happen now when the season is still green instead of during the last 5 like last year. Wring out the towel, iron the wrinkles. Now that is being incredibly optimistic but hopefully things will change. If the offense can get their shit together, the defense will follow suit.
Are defensive would be so much better if we had a little pressure remember Kirk played bad when he had tj watt in his face but when he can sit back and relax any qb can make a play with no pressure
I don’t know man, except for Bryce Ghost, to me it was just one of those games where the other team just played better. Atlanta came hungry after a disastrous loss, and Philly was overconfident after winning to one of the toughest teams. I actually feel pumped at how the team performed overall, including some tough red zone containments. Hadn’t it been for Saquon’s fluke ball drop and Siriani not opting for a field goal at the beginning, we would have won the game and everyone would be talking about how solid the team looked. And I’m not known for being a glass half full person 🤷♂️
Thing I don't understand is this: Davis was considered to be a work in progress and plays the run pretty well. Carter was touted as the absolute best player in the 2022 draft. Carter can't seem to get to the QB or blow out the pocket. What's the deal with this guy?
Dottson is irrelevant because he isn't being targeted, that's on Hurts & Moore. Same thing with Godert, he was barley even targeted.. it was covey & Smith only getting the reads and throws 💯 that's a problem.
Agreed. It’s easy to stop us when you only have to worry about 2 guys and can cover them with 2 or 3 guys at a time. That’s why he is always throwing in to double and triple coverage because he’s only targeting 2 people all game
A weak Dline makes the entire defense crumble. If they are getting owned past second level it makes it harder on the lbs, if they don’t get any pressure on passing downs it makes it harder on the dbs.. it’s glaring with this team how much the Dline is effecting the entire defense
As an italian who has been learning about football for the past couple of years I have to say that there seems to be a somewhat poor correlation between college perfomance and NFL. I have seen many first round draft picks turning into nothing and I am really starting to question the ability of the analytics teams in the NFL to actually be able to predict decent players with an acceptable degree of certainty. I know this team has huge potential but I will approach the next game very carefully.
Honest I try to find the good in it, so it's better to realize now they need help on the D line rather than wait till the deadline and pick someone up.

Seems like the d line really needs to build as a unit. Every guy has talent but jd and jc need to figure out something to create pressure. we need to give huff time. in NY he was asked attack the qb on 3rd and longs and to not think about it to much. now he's being asked to develop pass rush moves, stop the run, drop into coverage, and be an every down edge. remember reddick was just as bad the first couple weeks when we traded for him. and with jordan davis i don't see the problem. his job as a nose tackle is to demand double teams and gap up the holes on his side of the d line. davis is doing his job almost every time hes out there he's being double teamed, the problem is one man doing his job next to a bunch of other guys looking like they're freelancing makes him look bad as well

Everyones talking about how the D was terrible, they were for about a minute an a half, up until that last drive they did as well as can be expected, gave up 1 td at that point and held atl to 3 field goals when in the red zone, do they look great, no, do they have some stuff to figure out, absolutely, but barring that last drive they did exaclty what we need them to do, keep the score low, our offense needs to generate more points, especially while this revamped D is still trying to find its footing, which it should, lets not forget its week 2, if our offense drops the 30+ its capable of we win easily.
How many 1st, 2nd and 3rd round Eagles draft picks are on that defense? Davis, Carter, Dean, Smith, Mitchel, De Jean, and Blankenship (not counting Graham from 15 years ago). I'm sure I'm missing somebody.
Bryce Huff, Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter are by far the biggest reason for the team's struggles and the three of them need to wake the f**k up and step the f**k up immediately or find another occupation!! Ski mask Howie will absolutely trade for a pass rusher before the trade deadline. He always gets what this team needs. This team will get better and better as the season goes on as long as they can stay healthy enough.

We saw the limitations in fangio's scheme last year with desai. Is it supposed to be better because Vic, the Creator, is running it? Yes.. but it's not going to be because we lost two key components. We lost Reddick, and we lost Fletcher Cox. We've never had a good linebackers, so the players don't fit this scheme at all. He can't make it work with what he's got. He needs very specific players to fit his scheme. Which is why his scheme sucks.
Finally everyone starting to see the issue with nick sirianni being the coach of this team... hes dragging a loaded team through the mud! If this keeps up he will be fired mid season!! His ego is the problem here, why Jalen can't stand him...

Just have 3 pass rushers since they can't rush anyway. Add White to the linebackers and send him to rush most plays.
Was the Saquon drop awful? Sure. Should it have cost them the game? Not if they had even an upper bottom-third defense.

Only way they can turn this around is if they start signing new players to the defense. And offense gets their shit together other then that we got alot of work to do. Until then we're cooked.

No one is talking about how GASSED some of the Eagles are in the 3rd quarter. Getting paid millions and having no cardio strength leads to breakdowns in all other aspects of the game. I don't care how fast or strong the stats may say players are.
The offense was almost as bad as the defense. Seemed like no one was open the whole game. Their best drive came when Hurts gave up throwing the ball and just ran for all the yards, that should be the last resort, not the first. They’ve got to get open, and get Dotson involved.

As bad as that loss was, I’d rather this happen now when the season is still green instead of during the last 5 like last year. Wring out the towel, iron the wrinkles. Now that is being incredibly optimistic but hopefully things will change. If the offense can get their shit together, the defense will follow suit.

I don’t know man, except for Bryce Ghost, to me it was just one of those games where the other team just played better. Atlanta came hungry after a disastrous loss, and Philly was overconfident after winning to one of the toughest teams. I actually feel pumped at how the team performed overall, including some tough red zone containments. Hadn’t it been for Saquon’s fluke ball drop and Siriani not opting for a field goal at the beginning, we would have won the game and everyone would be talking about how solid the team looked. And I’m not known for being a glass half full person 🤷♂️
Thing I don't understand is this: Davis was considered to be a work in progress and plays the run pretty well. Carter was touted as the absolute best player in the 2022 draft. Carter can't seem to get to the QB or blow out the pocket. What's the deal with this guy?
Dottson is irrelevant because he isn't being targeted, that's on Hurts & Moore. Same thing with Godert, he was barley even targeted.. it was covey & Smith only getting the reads and throws 💯 that's a problem.

A weak Dline makes the entire defense crumble. If they are getting owned past second level it makes it harder on the lbs, if they don’t get any pressure on passing downs it makes it harder on the dbs.. it’s glaring with this team how much the Dline is effecting the entire defense
As an italian who has been learning about football for the past couple of years I have to say that there seems to be a somewhat poor correlation between college perfomance and NFL. I have seen many first round draft picks turning into nothing and I am really starting to question the ability of the analytics teams in the NFL to actually be able to predict decent players with an acceptable degree of certainty. I know this team has huge potential but I will approach the next game very carefully.
Honest I try to find the good in it, so it's better to realize now they need help on the D line rather than wait till the deadline and pick someone up.

Seems like the d line really needs to build as a unit. Every guy has talent but jd and jc need to figure out something to create pressure. The edges need to do something booker and Milton doing the best proves it can work but man they got worked on Monday. Hopefully fangio or the d line coach can figure out something that’ll work
we need to give huff time. in NY he was asked attack the qb on 3rd and longs and to not think about it to much. now he's being asked to develop pass rush moves, stop the run, drop into coverage, and be an every down edge. remember reddick was just as bad the first couple weeks when we traded for him. and with jordan davis i don't see the problem. his job as a nose tackle is to demand double teams and gap up the holes on his side of the d line. davis is doing his job almost every time hes out there he's being double teamed, the problem is one man doing his job next to a bunch of other guys looking like they're freelancing makes him look bad as well

Everyones talking about how the D was terrible, they were for about a minute an a half, up until that last drive they did as well as can be expected, gave up 1 td at that point and held atl to 3 field goals when in the red zone, do they look great, no, do they have some stuff to figure out, absolutely, but barring that last drive they did exaclty what we need them to do, keep the score low, our offense needs to generate more points, especially while this revamped D is still trying to find its footing, which it should, lets not forget its week 2, if our offense drops the 30+ its capable of we win easily.

Bryce Huff, Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter are by far the biggest reason for the team's struggles and the three of them need to wake the f**k up and step the f**k up immediately or find another occupation!! Ski mask Howie will absolutely trade for a pass rusher before the trade deadline. He always gets what this team needs. This team will get better and better as the season goes on as long as they can stay healthy enough.

We saw the limitations in fangio's scheme last year with desai. Is it supposed to be better because Vic, the Creator, is running it? Yes.. but it's not going to be because we lost two key components. We lost Reddick, and we lost Fletcher Cox. We've never had a good linebackers, so the players don't fit this scheme at all. He can't make it work with what he's got. He needs very specific players to fit his scheme. Which is why his scheme sucks.
