Update 16.8.13 I had an email in reply from Roy Wood Models regarding the problems with the upgraded reverser block that I had tried to get to work in this video. Roy gave me a couple of things to check and without quibble has posted out a replacement valve.
He went on to say as he does not manufacture the valves himself it is entirely possible that I have received a 'rogue' one.
Thanks Roy, I look forward to receiving it. That is what you call service!
Chevalier now has a summerlands chuffer, wheel inserts &steel coupling rods
Please see my other videos for Chevalier and the updates.
This little SL1 I was lucky enough to win on a well known auction site. I didn't pay alot for her, but I could see that there was a few upgrade parts that would come in handy even if the loco was utter junk. For me it was set at the wrong gauge so that had a dampener on things too.
I refitted the locomotive with a set of new o ring upgraded lapped cylinders and I re tensioned the reverser spring and lapped the port faces also. I fitted some turned steel wheels suitable for 32mm gauge and assembled the loco with new pipes throughout and adapted a 'dead leg' type lubricator to a displacement type.
I created this video to try and put Chevalier under a little more load for a little more 'voice'. I hope you all think Chevalier sounds good.

Ive just bought my first mamod engine, let the fun begin ! fantastic video thanku from New Zealand ,
Looks like you have my bad luck, I've fitted dream steam pistons and the engine cant turn over with no load. Before I put them on, it ran for 20 minutes plus fantastically. I've not touched it for 2 years as it peed me off.
The Mamod steam locomotives have a devil of a temper. You add or remove something, and they don't approve, they outright refuse to go.
Good Job, I appreciate that this is an old video but can you tell me what regulator you are using on this loco, thanks in advance
The link in the description is dead
I've taken my sl1 mamod loco to be cleaned and repainted
