I was curious when you mention that because as you said in the description, it should work with fingerprint and pin. But also If you set it up with your phone in the Aqara app, you should be able to control the smart like with your phone through Bluetooth. I found this out because I didn’t notice that I hadn’t connected my lock to the hub for like 30 minutes. 🔒
@@AdamsTechLifea smart gate lock. They are a trickier problem in some ways because they need to be waterproof. For both internet and external locks the other interesting consideration which I have never seen a video by anyone on is the double sided lock, ie the style where you traditionally need a key both sides (the idea being that should someone break in through a window it is harder for them because they still can’t just carry your stuff out through a door. I have seen this used to section houses as well. Eg a two story house into lower and upper levels. This is also effective for security and energy management.
Very good video, as usual. Question: When did the Aquara Lock start working again? How long was it unusable? What did you have to do to return functionality? Thank you.
Thanks so much. I just realized I forgot to put that part in of how I fixed it but basically it was offline for at 10 hours (while I was away). I fixed it by taking one battery out and putting it back in and that seem to get it back online, been working since.
Hi, The Offline issue, so Homekey don’t work? Or fingerprint? Or Bluetooth? Or the Unlock Code? Nothing worked? It seem you don’t mentioned much on that important part. Thanks!
Can I remotely lock and unlock doors using this lock . For example I am at a grocery store and forgot to lock my door, then can i lock the door from the grocery store?
hi there great video I learned a lot. I’m having problems using the Apple HomeKit and the home lock. Inside of Apple HomeKit I have the lock u100 when I go to the properties the manage access menu option is not there, so I cannot add any users. Is there a trick to this?
i haven't heard of that before. when i set up the lock, i added it from the aqara app and binded it to HomeKit and the manage access feature was there. maybe try resetting it and re adding?
Did you add the lock to HomeKit from HomeKit side or from the Aqara side? The lock is for sure working inside of HomeKit. If I'm on the Aqara app settings->other platforms it says not bound. That doesn't make any sense. If I try to find it from there it asked to add an accessory. What accessory am I adding? I'm in the.Aqara app and my HomeKit runs from my Apple TV and doesn't have a set up scan code. Maybe it's talking about adding the lock to itself or something I am so confused. .@@AdamsTechLife
With the Schlage connect lock, codes are stored IN the lock itself, so a programmed code is always available to unlock the door, even when its offline. So while the lock can go dead, or possibly fail, electronically, it does not need to be online to function. Sounds like Aqara lock needs online access to function? That's not great. Can you confirm this? Are codes not stored in the lock itself? Is there a reset button on the lock, and if so, would that return functionality?
I'm confused about apps/hubs/features/ecosystems. Please help. I installed the lock at my dad's as we often need quick access and in-home help. Everyone (except me) uses iEverything so this seemed to fit. He has a Google hub but nothing homekit yet. I'd like a good breakdown of what I need to add next and which hubs/apps to use. I'd like for iPeople to be able to use their phones/watches to unlock. And if this could work with Google and smartthings, it would be a big success. Thanks
Thanks for your comment. So for what to add next and what apps to use that all depends on what you need, ie contact sensors, smart plugs etc. but Aqara is a good brand that works with all ecosystems
It has happened to me 3 times. It goes off. First time I had the backup key. Second time it failed with fingerprint but worked with passcode. The third time was horrible due to the backup key was far away from home and I had no way to access my house =( Horrible product cuz of that really important issue
I watched your home security videos looking for the best option for my bedroom. I reached a point where I can’t decide which is the best option for a bedroom that is also my workspace which I go in & out multiple times in a row. Is the camera, door lock or the door sensor is best for this specific purpose? I don’t mind the price I’m buying my peace of mind.
Another youtuber hawking the Aqara Smart Lock. It appears that the presenter has not actually used this lock for more than a few days. During the one month that I have owned this lock I have gone through 4 sets of batteries. It is also very glitchy. Sometimes the keypad stops responding. Then a day or two later it will start working again. Homekit will randomly stop working. I have kept the firmware up to date but that did not make a difference. This lock comes across a a piece of cheap Chinese junk. There is a reason it is so inexpensive. You get what you pay for.
This is my initial week long review...an extended review is coming later...per the video :) not much has changed tho. i am only explaining the issues I personally have experienced, I haven't experienced a glitchy keypad or short battery life. maybe you got a lemon? those things do happen unfortunately

It is a pretty slick looking lock and is so versatile. I like the U100 / G4 combo. It's a solid smart front door solution. Great review!
For sure!! Thanks for watching! 😊
A review of a gate lock would be awesome. Loving the channel.
Glad to hear your enjoying the videos and finding them helpful! Are you meaning like a smart gate lock or something like a basic lock with numbers?

Love how you broke down needing the aqara hub for some things. Feel like other Apple home RUclipsrs fail to mention using things with/without hubs.
Glad i could help my friend :) Thanks for watching!
I have apple car key on my bmw and it’s awesome. This lock is a possible replacement for my current one.
whoah that's awesome!!
Can you please do a review of the new Yale lock that works with Apple keys.
I'll see what I can do, thanks for the suggestion!
@@AdamsTechLife awesome thank you :)

@@AdamsTechLife Thanks. I'm definitely considering this lock based on your excellent review.
Hi,
The Offline issue, so Homekey don’t work?
Or fingerprint?
Or Bluetooth?
Or the Unlock Code?
Nothing worked?
It seem you don’t mentioned much on that important part.
Thanks!
I didn’t have HomeKey set up at the time but I didn’t extensively test the other unlocking methods. Thanks for watching! 😊
@@AdamsTechLife oh ok, that sound fair.
It would stay a unknown if it would work in those situations.

With the right parts mentioned in this video, yes :)
Great video man. I’ll try it too .
Thanks for watching my friend! 😊
@@AdamsTechLife also I bought a Case using your link 😃
Thanks so much!! Enjoy! 😊
Without a huh of any sort, appe or aqara, can I still unlock this with fingerprint, iPhone and Apple Watch ?
Yes, only within bluetooth range and not remotely.
How is the long term review coming along, are you still planning on doing that video?
it'll be up this weekend 😊
@@AdamsTechLife If I could heart this, I would. Really looking forward to that video haha

Awesome videos sorry I’m soo late
Thanks for watching! 😊 ❤️
Gonna replace the level lock I have with this one bc that lock is terrible 😢
Yeah, I've heard it's had a lot of issues. Aqara seems to be the most stable one out so far. Thanks for watching! 😊
When the lock was offline, did the code or fingerprint fail to unlock it? That seems pretty poor if it won't work without internet connectivity!
Yeah, nothing would work though I didn’t do extensive testing cause I was in a rush to get back inside lol
@@AdamsTechLife The battery probably disconnected
Yep appeared to be the case

Can you remotely manage guest password or do you have to be near the lock with Bluetooth on to set it up ?
bluetooth only without home hub, remotely with apple home hub in the home app (aqara app codes requires aqara hub)

Without any additional context with your situation, I can't say for sure and it depends what you need as each have their own benefits
How do you get a black apple home key?
The color is based off the color of the link itself. Black lock black HomeKey, silver lock silver HomeKey
Newbie here~ I just bought from Amazon couple days ago for my new home~ Do you need aqara hub in order to control from homekit?? 10:39
I mentioned this in the video at the homekit part but...not required but def helpful ;)
Sorry to bother you again~ what would be the benefit of connecting it to your aqara hub
FINALLY some affordable 💩
Haha right!! Thanks for watching! 😊

The thumbprint feature is awesome great video 🎉
It’s a great feature I’m happy to see. Thanks for watching! 😊
Any idea when this will go back on sale? It was 30% off on prime day and I missed it. Do you have a promo code for it by chance? Really want it 😩
I don't know when it'll go back on sale. I don't have a promo code, but Aqara's devices usually go on sale often :)
Aqara gos off line way too often for this lock to be useful but I still like aqara products. I use the M2 hub and many child devices.
I’m not gonna say Aqara is perfect, but fwiw I will say from personal experience Schlage went offline way more than Aqara for me 😳
does this smart lock only Work with Apple?
no, the video talks about this :)
