- Talk's Mike Graham reacts to a couple who committed serial “dine and dash” offences - racking up large bills for food and drink before leaving without paying.
Bernard McDonagh and Ann McDonagh appeared before Swansea Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, where they pleaded guilty to five joint charges of fraud.
Charges detail how the pair dishonestly obtained food and drink for themselves and their family at four restaurants and one takeaway in the south Wales area, with the unpaid bills totalling £1,168.10.
It was alleged that the couple ate and drank at the eateries “having no intention of paying for” what they ordered.

That pair should be jailed and put on a compulsory diet before they need treatment on the NHS caused by obesity.
Bread and water
Sorry, that’s stale bread and dishwater, need to do it right eh?
I was thinking exactly the same thing.
I think they should be deported to Zimbabwe and work under Bob Mugabe
@@unionjackjackson4352 no gruel and water
I doubt those two dash anywhere.
😂
Nice
Wolf and Wobble ?
@@MsStack42 I saw Gobble and Wobble further down these comments. That's got to be the one.
👏👏👏👏
They only got caught because as the dining increased, the dashing decreased.
I can't imagine them 'dashing' anywhere.
My thoughts exactly!
They couldn't dash away from a snail.
Don't eat where you cannot pay. Their problems should not be passed on to people who are trying to survive themselves.
@@diggerpete9334💯🎯👏👏 exactly. Seriously, they need to go help at a food bank to see how people are struggling in reality.
How were they able to “run” away without being caught 😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
they climbed out the restroom window?
Shitters in the UK don't have big enough windows.
Just let people do what they want, it's part of living in a big city.
@@Adam-sd2ow now you'rew sounding like saddistic khunt
Don’t think they do much running😂
Judging by their size, one wonders how many meals they have had.
I'm wondering if they ate the chef as well.
@@meridianleeward6370😂😂😂
@@meridianleeward6370❤❤❤😂😂😂
I'm wondering how could they dash?
Watched a family create problems, the Mum with the biggest mouth shouting and screaming about nothing so they didn't have to pay. Pathetic. That's the example for your kids. Entitled to rob hard working people.
Their home on wheels must be seriously reinforced to carry all that weight. Scroungers.
The surname definitely points to that
Dine & Dash?!
More like Gobble & Wobble.
😂🤣
Love it!!! 😆🤣your comment, gave me a good chuckle.
Comment of the day!!!Cheers Bionic Rusty, lol.😅😅Thanks for making me laff out loud!!😅😅😅
You win the comments .. they'll be enjoying prison grub for next couple months lol
Can guarantee there was absolutely ZERO DASHING.
Dine and waddle! 🐷🐷
😂😂😂
They look as though they couldn't "dash" to save their wasteful lives.
I did it once, in Shefield. I had a meal for two. I asked for the bill four times, and after one and a half hours waiting to pay, I had enough and got up and left
You intended to pay - not the same thing
You tried.
Dine and dash ? Im surprised they can run?
I'm surprised they can walk, I used to be a fatbody and have lost 5 stone
Shovel it and shuffle.
@@DestroytheEUSSR fantastic achievement 👏 👌
I wouldn’t have thought it would have been too difficult to catch those tubs of lard.
The offence should be called "Dine and Waddle"
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
It’s the norm for travellers. In pub chains they know the policy for complaints up front, so eat and eat and eat then create a spurious complaint and then leave without paying.
It's not as if they are starving🤣🤣🤣
Businesses will have to start taking payments first before serving I think, that will end this selfish behaviour.
Completely agree, they cannot beg for a ‘service’ charge then either.
This kind of thing destroys small businesses. Long jail time needed !
Unfortunately here in the UK we don't have gaol space.
@@SirReginaldBlomfield1234 yes we do
Should be easy to spot, just look out for the forklifts outside
Just charge them when they order!!! Simple!!
everyone will have to pay before they get served?
That is just how it should be, order pay then eat. Bus, train and plane operators don't transport people and then hope to get paid at their passengers destination !
Let's not tar everyone with the stupidity of a few. They are the problem... not the other patrons.
@@SirReginaldBlomfield1234 I agree. It used to be based on trust. This is the sign of the times of broken Britain.
Maybe they couldn't afford it. Must be pricey to eat the entire menu in one sitting.
Wetherspoon model is pay when your order food. Just do that or make them open a tab with a card prior to ordering anything
Spot on👍
Wetherspoons is great because the demographic who loathe my wife and myself loathe it. Marvellous. Not perfect but not meant to be. Cheap basic fare . Wide cross section of people in there which is great.
I’m having trouble with the “dashing” bit 🥺
😂😂😂
I bet they dash to the DHSS when it's pay day
I'm not sure that couple could _"DASH"_ - more like wobble. These people should be in jail...
They look like they needed the food.
Saw a person try to dine and dash in Pizza Hut in Norwich, England, once. If he had just walked out normally he would have got away with it. But he ran and attracted attention, so they dragged him back in and called the police.
Sounds about right from what I recall of Norwich!
Hardly dine and dash, I doubt that pair have dashed anywhere for years!
Entitled people. To many dinners, not enough exercise
What the hell could those two tubs of lard dash away from?
A two by two
It's their culture and it's protected under the Equalities Act.
@@wordsmithgobshite3296 I think he means fat people not white people.
@@Adam-sd2ow not sure about that, adam
@@wordsmithgobshite3296 I've read his other comments, he's certainly not anti white, In fact he's the opposite 😂
@Adam-sd2ow in that case I'll delete my comment when you've read it
@@Adam-sd2owI think he means people who enjoy extensive caravan holidays 😂
This is why “Irish” surnames were banned from Pontins or wherever it was.
I can understand the dining ...but I doubt they could "dash" very far 🤣🤣🤣
Those walking beer kegs do not look like they can dash very far, so I find it hard to believe that they dash faster than restaurant staff can catch them.
Them Thieves lives around 20 miles away from me 😂😂
If they set off now on foot to visit you expect them to arrive around 2032
Just looking at them, i will judge a book by its cover.
And they are ..king big covers!!
Then travellers complain that they have a bad name. Yet it's always travellers who pull this sort of thing.
Did you mean time travellers?
Those two tubs of lard look like they’ve scoffed their way through most eateries in UK.
Can't imagine those two dashing anywhere 😂😂😂😂
Dash or wobble?
They should both be put on a hunger strike and review things in six months 😂
They look like they belong to a. Certain caravan club.
That's Jay's dad from The Inbetweeners.
YES!..... You can spot them a mile off they have a certain aura about them..... and it's not the saintly/angelic type.
They got prison sentences. More free food for 8 and 12 months. Its a win win situation for them.
Blimey, those two need to raid a salad bar
Judging by their appearances, they do more dining than dashing.
I doubt they could dash anywhere
The sheer audacity of mike saying im surprised they could get through the door
Fix for this make everyone pay before they even get their food
too much dine not enough dash
I remember a Thai restaurant in Greenwich when a group like "that" came in. They say next to our table and started to be very noisy.
After a few minutes, and before our order was taken, my wife and I told the waitress we were leaving and why.
Gobble and Waddle.
New Zealand had a family of British tourists who did this and many other obnoxious things. They traveled the country causing outrage and committing offences until they were deported. It seems they weren't popular in the UK either!
They were Irish travellers.
The last time that bloke saw his own bits was in 2001.
It is not just restaurants, our local supermarket has had to hire an undercover detective to catch shoplifters. People just seem they can walk out without paying and don't think there is anything wrong with it.
Woolworths in Newquay were doing that in the nineties.
Woolworths in Corby Northamptonshire did the same, the best part was everyone knew the security guard, she was an ex copper,😅😅😅,@@tonyhaynes9080
@@tonyhaynes9080 And now Woolies is dead.
@@tonyhaynes9080 same for one in Scarboroughw
@tonyhaynes9080 back in the 80's, Woolies in Fulham , London had a plain clothes store detective who used to walk around with the same items in his hand basket every day pretending to be a customer, everyone knew who he really was 😅 my mate's mum walked up to him 1 day and asked him if he was ever going to pay for those items 😅
T-bone steaks and expensive bottles of wine
looks like they done it a few times.
Dine and dash???😆🤣😂😅 they couldnt run anywhere!! wobble yes RUN NOOOOO
More dine and no dash, they haven’t got a dash in them 😂😂😂
From looking at the pictures I don’t think they have a “dash” in them.
How can they dash 😂
what i have heard of before is bringing something with them and putting it in the meal and claiming that the food is contaminated, trying to not pay
Surprised the chubsters can dash from anywhere. Too many stolen pies.
Serial salad dodgers.
Just one waf'fer thin mint?
Get money up front !!
We may come to a point where bills have to pay first.
I find it hard to believe those two could much dashing, a lumbering waddle I could well believe.
Dine & dash....gobble and wobble !
No surprise we know what they are.
It’s such a despicable thing to do !
They should be banned from every restaurant and eatery in the area this happen. Shame on them
It looked like they needed a good meal..🤔
That surname says it all, nothing new there!!!
I can see that they do a lot of dining, but I can't imagine that they could do much dashing. Maybe they should cut the dining.
How can the run !
Guaranteed they've never hit up a salad bar.
I JUST CANT UNDERSTAND WHY I,M PUTTING ALL THIS WEIGHT ON,,,,,,, SIMPLE,,,, STOP EATING ,
It's funny, they look exactly as I imagined they would 🤨
looking back, was it really worth it? A vandalized home and jail time for just over £1,000.
Make it a rule to pay before they sit down, our local farm shop restaurant insists you pay before anything is cooked and brought to you.
Dine and waddle more like it.
Crikey they’re both only one burger away from a heart attack !
I can believe they dined but the dash bit, come on 😂
I bet the waiters didn't expect them to do a runner!
Looks like they didnt Travel very far
As if hard working business owners don't have enough to deal with. It's disgusting.
The famous line from Land of hope and Glory seems quite apt. "Wider still and Wider"....
I think that they might be good at "dining" but so much at "dashing"
How did they run anywhere after eating. ? The staff could have caught up with them even if they gave them an hour ahead start.
Seen about 2 years ago, celebrating my birthday a couple to the left of us, there then vanished 30 minutes later.
Give people a menu and say hi, then say when you are ready go up to the counter order and pay, that’s what I would do. If you go in a pub you go up to the bar to order for food. That’s the way to go with the society today and a true abiding person wouldn’t mind doing this.
Why do restaurants not have a system where you pay when you order your meal?
I can't believe they dashed😂😂😂😂
Travellers so no surprise really.
Cereal Burglars?? Doesn't look like they've ever had a bowl of cereal in their lives.
Britain is lost,,so sad,
Jesus looking at those two I’d imagine they ate enough to put the restaurants under
Prosecuted for one meal theft, with 3 thousand others being taken into account 😂
They look like they do this a few times a DAY.
Make an example of them send them to prison for 12 months
