I thought tho during this time she was really going through these thoughts about killing she didn’t want to do it anymore. That’s why she left , and why she left multiple other times in the show . I like to think when she cries in this scene she genuinely doesn’t want to kill them , regardless of her knowledge of “manipulation”.

Man, I feel for Carol. I'm glad the show addressed how scared certain characters are of themselves after all the killing.
Carol didn't wanna kill anyone else she they just wouldn't leave her people alone.
Some DANGEROUS levels of acting right here. I know theres plenty other examples (split is my favorite one), but playing a character whos ACTING another way is just insane to me. Layered acting/multiple roles in one will always be top shelf acting skills in my opinion.
Carol isn’t necessarily acting in this scene it’s just that the reasoning behind her tears isn’t what they think it is, they think that she’s scared of them but really she’s scared because she doesn’t want to see any more people die and knows that unless they get back into the car she’s going to kill them.
