Omar Gadall Forgive me for my extreme ignorance to any of this culture. In Egypt, despite the popularity of belly dancing, I heard it either is currently or was in the past illegal to show the navel? And before that, more covering was required? I'd be interested to know more about the different levels of acceptance of belly dance and its origins. I hope to learn a bit in class.. I did not know that "dancer" was used derogatorily to refer to Egyptian belly dancers. Am I understanding that correctly?
+HorseGirlb blank no it always legal to show the navel.. its illegal to dress belly dance clothes on streets... belly dance clothes legal on TV . movies. video clips and night club and hotel. but not on streets ..... yes they refer to Egyptian belly dancers as a insulting to us.

Arabian style is Egyptian style... No other arab country have belly dance... belly dance is from Egypt
