I'd followed the Gourds from early on & always thought there was a Dead vibe in there none of my friends connected with, I mean Kevin being the heartfelt Garcia, Jimmy doing the Bobby show-off, Claude doing the rocking keys (w/out dying), and all the tunes where all the musicians came together into "that sound." That sound being a unified sound of several musicians tuned in. This particular performance verifies all I'd thought about Kevin & the boys!
Having seen the Dead do this so many times and now with the loss of my great father just yesterday, this song has so much more meaning. And you nailed it ! Thank you
An excellent cover of an absolute classic. I've heard a few different ones this morning. But no matter, Great Job everyone sounded great and you made it your own. Thanks for sharing.
57 and just heard you for the 1st time here in AZ. I've read every article and have been spreading Sinyribs and the Gourds across the nation every since, Thank you Kevin and all your talented soulful musicians !
Wow this was a welcome suprise. Exceptional.
This is my favorite version of this song.
Wow, Jerry is smiling down. Band of heathens is so good as backing musicians.
Wow. WOW. What a great cover.
Perfection... I think you have everyone’s permission to cover many more Grateful Dead songs. 😃

This'll make a grown man cry!! Beautiful!!
Yep. I just did.
You are awesome! Best rendition yet, beautiful!
This rendition will be played as my casket is lowered.
Perhaps the best example of a cover taking a song to another level. Just beautiful.

Sometimes it's what they leave out and the spaces between that make the song. This so pared down but so beautiful all at once!!

Who are the three heartless bastards that disliked this?
Who are the other musicians? Beautiful harmonies.
Some of them belongs to The Band of Heathens. An amazing band
KELLEY MICKWEE singing harmony.
Gordy Quist guitar and vocals -band of heathens
Trevor Nealon -piano- band of heathens
I'll have
Will this be on The Next Waltz Vol. 4?
It's already on Volume 1 - the-next-waltz.myshopify.com/collections/vinyl/products/the-next-waltz-volume-one-lp
So much better than the Dead it's like a different song.
Better than the Dead? Nope. Still an amazing rendition. One of my recent fav finds.
Sorry, Mike. Joining the pig pile. Really, really good, though. I like these guys a lot.
