Black-and-White Warbler

  • This is one of my favorites-a Black-and-white Warbler flying from perch to perch, singing it's high-pitched squeakyt song: wee-see-wee-see-wee-see (sounds like a squeaky wheel).
This difficult exposure situation, with patchy sunlight and a bird composed of blacks and whites, shows how well my Canon 7D handles high contrast. Even in clips where portions of the bird are in full shade and other portions lit by sun, the results look really good (at least to me). I really do love this fabulous new technology!

There was a bird just like this one at my work today. Flew into a window twice. I rescued it and he is fine. I think he was the cutest little thing!

You can tell by the way he takes down that caterpillar that deep in his genome still lurks the heart of his raptor ancestry from the Jurassic. :-)

What incredible video!!!!!!! Wow! Not only a tough bird to get close to, but singing, and in unbelievably crisp and close focus. Amazing!

My wife and I just discovered this visitor nesting on the ground in our woods along a walking path. Very beautiful markings! Very adept at concealing the nest as well, I had a hard time seeing it even after watching the bird visit to deliver a bug and do its housekeeping (pooh removal). LOL

I think it's amusing that there are 'dislikes' for videos like this.....what could possibly have gotten your panties in such a bunch that you could object to a video of a bird singing?? Truly strange...

Marvellous footage, Lang. You should consider donating some of your work to Cornell's Macaulay Library; I'm sure that most of the users of the service would be very fond of this.

Saw a handful of these yesterday and couldn’t make out their calls amongst so many other louder birds. Your video/audio is great quality and now i have a clearer understanding of their noises and why i had such a hard time isolating/hearing them. Cheers!!
