I'd have to agree. As a man, there are 2 people in kpop that always draw me in no matter what they do: taemin and gd. I have many others that I like of course (talking just about guys) but these two always pull me in. The only concert I've gone to until now was GD's and I hope taemin will do a tour in europe in the future so I can go to his as well.

2 Kids, Criminal and Idea form the “Never gonna dance again” trilogy. The theory is that 2 Kids is Taemin losing faith in himself and the world, Criminal is Taemin at his lowest, basically in hell (the fire and red colors around him also gives this impression), and Idea is Taemin finding his way back into the light and getting better, perhaps with the last scene even symbolizing heaven (with the dancers wearing white feathers)

@@LKTVLKTV I still maintain Taemin's Press It album that produced Press Your Number and Drip Drop is his best to date, even the highlight medley of that is god-tier. All his title songs since are great but there still are a few standouts: Criminal, Move, Sayonara Hitori, and the earlier Danger, and Ace.

My introduction to Taemin was actually when Momo,Mina,Chaeyoung and Dahyun covered Move. After that I had to check the original mv and dance practice out and as a straight male I have to say he had me questioning my sexuality a little. Lol 🥵🥵

-move was meant to break away from gender norms ! the outfits he wears are meant to be gender neutral, and especially the choreography as well ! he worked with japanese choreographer koharu (the lady in the video) who he's good friends with
-2 kids was shot in paris ! he wrote the lyrics himself, and did a lot of other work with rearranging the song and such (tho he doesnt compose really) the dance is also almost entirely improvised, he came up with a rough idea of it on the day before the flight there !
-criminal !!! the sequal to 2 kids, he wanted to show a "stockholm syndrome" type of twisted love. he's playing 2 different characters in the video if you look closely !! the "criminal taemin" and the "victim taemin". the "never gonna dance again" trilogy is also meant to show him dancing in ways that he never has before, he said he wanted to "reinvent himself"
-idea, the final act, is meant to be him "rising up", showing hell, heaven, and the earth (fire set=hell, the woods=earth, the white sweater/apple store set=heaven). it's supposed to have an open ending !! (it seems like the "idea/messiah" is meant to be the idea of his ideal/perfect self thats "killing him" but idk thats just my personal theory 👀)
-think of you ;-;; the sweet bonus video for the fans, i believe it was also set in paris (likely filmed at the same time as 2 kids, since 2 kids was shot pre-covid), and shows a lot of what he's like off-stage !!! his "baby cheese" side, if you will
i can't possibly recommend "want" enough 😭😭 it's absolutely my favorite video and dance of his, it's meant to be "the perfect compliment to move"

welcome - Shawol-in-the-making! :-) Yes - he is incredible, he's unique, he is an artist in the true sense of the word. There is no K-Pop idol out there like Taemin, The Ace, idol of idols and also, as you have seen in Think Of You - our adorable baby cheese.
WIth Taemin's last album Never Gonna Dance Again Act 1 and Act 2 (both are absolutely amazing!) it's well worth reading a bit up on it - there is a whole concept behind it. it's also worth it checking out the lyrics (Think Of You for example...the lyrics are rather sad - in contrast to the MV and the melody). As you've already seen he works a lot with symoblism. For both Criminal and IDEA there are a few bts/commentary videos - you can find them on SHINees YT channel.
Enjoy discovering this amazing artist and please check out SHINee too - imho there's no way to fully understand Taemin if you do not know SHINee as well.

Taemin is........ it's hard to describe, he's just an ARTIST and he is so good at being an artist that I can't even think of him within the concept of the kpop industry or any genre. His albums are so high quality I can't imagine not listening to them even 20 years from now. He isn't even playing the game, he stands above everyone in the fucking sky doing his own thing.
I love the mv's in paris, I went there in 2015 from NZ and went to so many of those places. Paris really is a place that just makes you smile. I loved it SO much.

kinda another fun fact: TaeMin stated that he is a tone deaf/dk how to sing before when he debuted(his group SHINee debuted at 2008), but now his vocal is a wow.
He might don't have a wide range or able to sing really high/low notes, but still his tone and the way he sing impressed me evry time though.
Not to mention his dance, his dance is definitely one of the best along with Kai from EXO, he might not be the best that agreed by evrybdy around the world, but definitely the way he dance stands out, and he is the Idol of Idols.
Look at how succeed and how good he is right now, i still remember when I watched SHINee MV during my elementery school time(I was born in 1997), he is still a minor that time, 14 15yrs/o, now he is all grown up and became the Idol of Idols.
Just so proud of him to see him make this big progress.
Though he is going to enlist in military soon in August/September I think.
Haiz now I'm a old kpop fan, I started my kpop journey with SuperJunior(13ppl time), TVXQ(5ppl time) and EXO(12ppl time), now those new fans might don't even know they used to have this amount of members before.

Ah the duality of Taemin - he is one of my ultimate biases. He is the best dancer in kpop (decided by his peers no less), has a stare that looks right into your soul but is also the nicest & sweetest man!! He debuted with Shinee at the age of 14, was told he was tone deaf but practised with the help of his fellow Shinee members & has reached where he is today through sheer talent & hard work! I kinda love him (if you hadn't already guessed)! I recommend you check out his Japanese releases Sayonara Hitori & Under My Skin & Korean MVs Press Your Number & his debut Danger, all personal favourites (but all his songs are amazing)!

YES Taemin is incredible! Along with Shinee, he's also a member of SM's supergroup SuperM, who I 10000% recommend checking out as well. For more Taemin songs I'd definitely say do Danger, WANT, and Famous!
Side note: I'm glad you reacted to this now! Skz's Hyunjin is working on a cover of Criminal and I absolutely can not wait for it. Their dance styles are so similar, he's going to absolutely nail it. Hopefully you'll react to it once he's done with it!

This song was filmed in Paris in-between Taemin's Super M promotional activities. There is no choreo, and Taemin said he did a "drunken-themed" freestyle dance which also conveys the emotion of the song. He also wrote the lyrics while sitting on a plane during a long flight. According to Taemin, Act II is going to be intense and include something that has never been performed before by Kpop idols.
