    In the meeting between North Korea and South Korea at the DMZ, South Korean President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un signed the Panmunjom declaration and agreed to work toward complete denuclearization of the Korean peninsula and seek a permanent end to the 1950s Korean war.
    Similar commitments and calls for action on a peace treaty and denuclearization came in 1992, 1994, 2005, and 2010 -- so will these talks prove any different? Only time will tell.

    Hey guys, Versha here! What do you think of the latest news from North and South Korea? Do you think they'll ever unify and denuclearize?

    • @uhohhotdog
      @uhohhotdog 6 лет назад +6

      Versha Sharma eventually the entire world will unify into one world government

    • @paulhan1615
      @paulhan1615 6 лет назад +6

      Versha Sharma We will unify after we slaughter the pig sitting in the throne. The Kims own everything in NK but reunification means that they are going to have to give up all they have, which I don't think they'll agreed to. The only way for unification is that Kim is overthrown in a civilian revoltuion and North Koreans surrender to the SK which of course, is very unlikely to happen since Kim does have at least half of the country to support him. This sudden change in the atmosphere is positive but this is the best they could get. It can't get any further I'm afraid.

      Ahmed somalilander, you have to realize that a country's religion is not even a driving factor behind the United States' actions. The US is too smart to let a petty thing like religion become a factor in their decision-making process. the objective of a world power to invade those countries is very simple: they want to make sure everyone who poses a threat and unwilling to cooperate, like Saddam and Gaddafi, is exterminated. This ensures their foothold and long-term hegemony in the region.

      If you think South Korea has freedom, you should try making some research.
      Censorship is a big deal over there.
      Obviously, if we're comparing with North Korea alone, they got a lot of freedom. But so does pretty much any other country in the world. South Korea is not an example by any means.

    • @paulhan1615
      @paulhan1615 6 лет назад +3

      Vinicius Silva Moraes You mean National Security Law of Korea where it forbids any form of practice related to communism that can benefit North Korea? Well, I do agree that South Korea isn't as liberal and democratic as the countries in the west, but since there's an unfinished war going on, some measures are necessary, but must not be abused as well.

    • @paulhan1615
      @paulhan1615 6 лет назад +10

      FallenThunderFlash 18 Yeah, no. SK spends more than 10 times in budget for defense and NK's technology is so old and crappy, it basically uses WW2 era weapons and did not apply any modern ones due to its isolation and poor economy. Also, they have almost no air support to sufficiently drive out their opponents' in case of aerial bombings. Their only leading factor is numbers, but overall population is only half to that of SK which means that when a war breaks out, south can easily exceed in terms of masses by releasing their reserves. Not to mention most of the combatants are malnutritioned that their overall height is less than 5 feet.

    • @vsmoraes0
      @vsmoraes0 6 лет назад +5

      I haven't entered in the topic of being a good thing or not. I just said it is there.
      But now that we got into the topic: censorship is bad in any shape or form. You should be allowed to think on your own, and more often than not, is an excuse for the government or even third party countries to mold and influence the population's thinking.

    While not atypical in the sense that N. Korea feigns peace for foreign aid, I think N. Korea is pursuing something more this time. Like the video said, this could be an attempt to put a wedge between S. Korea and its allies. Additionally, now that the North has a potential ICBM that could target the US, it's gained leverage and time for itself. It's own existence is nearly guaranteed so it's trying to expand its influence. The timing with the Winter Olympics and this summit indicates N. Korea wants more than just foreign aid. That's probably why it "feels" different.

    How stupid is that a whole nation fight each other and being split for so many years based on politics?And all that in favor of outside powers...
    I really hope North & South really get into an agreement and reunite on their own, not by external politics because that way im pretty sure they will end up split again eventually.

    • @paulhan1615
      @paulhan1615 6 лет назад +3

      Oti Na Nai The root of the division was the external forces such as America and Russia, but the main cause that led the split for so many years with hatred was both governments. They both fueled hate and resentment towards each other by propagandas. North Korea called South a dog of American imperialism, and South called their counterparts commies, proxy state of China and Russia and so on. Both social and emotional gap between the two people now is too deep and wide that it's best to not reunify for certain period of time before all of these go down.

    • @MrMarios3000
      @MrMarios3000 6 лет назад +1

      paul han This happened to many countries in the whole world, even in my country (Greece-the first civil war in cold war) people have hate for one party or the other because of the atrocities that took place, thats my point how many innocent lives got lost for a stupid "contest" between USSR and USA? Whenever one of em wanted to expand its power BOOM there goes a civil war.
      At last, i think neither side would mind unifying, after all, many people have relatives on the other side and they cant even visit them as it is today. And in the end, they are the same nation. As long as they understand why the split happened in the first place im positive they would leave the past behind and focus in a prosperous and peaceful future for the korean peninsula

      Oti Na Nai Well, the problem is that those kinds of issues are closely related to politics. Many politicians in SK use anti-communist rhetoric to bring in more votes from the people and provoke nationalism by emphasizing their glorious struggles against the communist monsters. Whenever someone points out that harsh stance against the north isn't always the answer, they immediately call that person a pro-North and even a spy to infiltrate in South Korea. The fact is people are gullible enough to buy all of their rhetoric so we still have a mountain to climb and that is saying something when you didn't include North Korea in this instance.

      + So coincident that you are a greek. Recently I read a book about comparison of Greek Civil War and Korean War where atrocities were committed on both sides and how hatred derived from it still lingers in the names of idealogies. It is such a brutal and foolish history that people slaughtered each other for thoughts that they can't even see or touch and how everyone believes that was a right thing to do still.

      paul han Most people to be honest didnt even know we had a civil war, everyone knows bout Korea and Vietnam but ours was just as chaotic with napalms, massacres etc.
      Also ive found a lot of sources that i seriously dont know what to trust any more but many claim that the civil war costed more lives than we lost in the WW2. Thats crazy considering Greece and Poland had the most casualties analogical to their population

    This video is arguably obscure the reality of the international relationships of North Korea. I really do not understand why the video omitted the facts that such "peace" negotiations took place 10 and 15 years ago. The only difference from the past is the change of the leader, who apparently resemble not only the superficial looks of the predecessors but also the political acts he previously had done. Will this be different from the political fiasco happened in the pasts? I do not know. But I can argue that history usually repeats itself.

    I'm pondering upon the future of stable, denuclearize Korean peninsular. Will the past atrocities of NK will be forgiven and forgotten if let say they agreed to reunified as a single country? Or will they just stay as two separate and peaceful neighbouring country? In my opinion, as long as the Kim's dynasty stay as ruling gov in NK, a truly peaceful Korean peninsular will never be achieved as NK's people will always try to migrate to SK for its economic prosperity. Only a political revolution that end NK's current regime will bring a meaningful stability in the region for the long term.

    The two path of the Koreas will become one soon. In my opinion I really think Kim Jong Un doesnt want wars anymore, he is really sincere. When I saw his face (watching at the Inter Korean Summit coverage), he's a smily person, he doesnt like a dictator. But well, the dark (negative) side is always there. I am just worried if the Korean Unification occurs, who will be their president? Is it from the North side? or the South side?? it's still a political problem. And not just about that, what if Kim Jong Un has a plans on continuing the nuclearization when the reunification is now there? What if Kim Jong Un is just making South Korea to use it's military power, technology, etc.? There are so many tickling questions in my head.
