It's a retake (meaning his own take on another artist's song) and a mash up of two or more songs. This is a retake of the song Back on 74 by Jungle, with Ren's own rap scheme in the middle and then a retake of The Police's song Message in a Bottle :)

This is a mashup and both songs are covers.
This rendition of Jungle's 'back on 74' with 'Message in a Bottle' on the guitar is amazing! Ren is fabulous too.
YES! LOVE Ren doing this soulful stuff, WITH those amazing back up singer's. Ren harmonizes so perfectly with them too. They are a perfect musical connection.
During the first part i swear hes channeling Curtis Mayfield.
It's worth having a look at the original Back on 74 track. The artists Jungle specialise in one take dance videos and they also choreograph the dances.
Theres a channel called Disco Doc (who might actually be Ren, or one of his friends) and he gives a fascinating insight into it all. the Back on 74 video featured an interactive backdrop, so viewers could click on the backdrop and change it for whoever else was watching it. (Doc explains it much better!)
He also points out that Ren's suit looks to be the same ss the one he wore for MG3.
So this means this would have been recorded in the same time period. (The journey time between both locations is only an hour.)

I am not a music expert, I am a pattern recognition guy that happened to be a Prince fan in the 80's and 90's.
What I love about this video: Jungle modernized 70s disco and funk in their song Back on 74' Ren covered their music, but reverse engineered their modernized song back to 1974. This is just my take.
