same here, im sorry but ppl need to wear helmets for a reason and reasons. if shed be wearing helmet this never would have been prevented and never happened, its extremely important and safety 1st, being safe. being safe is #1, working with horses.
@@alquarius86 agreed. I ride horses and as much as I am safe I also always have a part of me that is like ok they are in a bad mood so I’m not gonna do that today. And last night when I rode a horse freaked out and reared and nobody got hurt but still. Stay safe🤍🤍🤍
She got SO lucky. A kick from a horse can immediately kill someone. They can stop a heart and so much more. I hope her relationship with her horse wasn’t ruined.
I really hope it was
My Grandfather was born in 1864 and the day before, his oldest brother, who was 17 had walked behind their very gentle horse and for a reason no one will ever know, the horse kicked him in the forehead, knocking him unconscious and he died later that night. They needed the horse to work and the horse never tried to kick anyone again. My father always told us to never trust any horse not to kick.
i agree with you. I'm asking if she does work with them or not or what, you know. it could be that it got startled. stressed, or afraid and something like that. im having physch issues and my meds cause me to be forgetting, and my vision as well.

NEVER, NEVER never walk behind the horse and this is the exact reason why for no one to be bhind horses.
You stopped my heart when I saw your profile picture 😍
Her poor husband, he so wanted to be upset, but his training kept him calm. You know that made her feel better.
I noticed that too. Poor guy.
We see ambulances every day and pay them no attention only when they have sirens and lights on makes you think how many people have been saved in these amazing vehicles. Too all Ambulance workers and Air ambulances Paramedics thank you. 💖💖💖
Well said!
You're welcome ♥
Noah Elias Fritz Are you a air paramedic?
Ye that's true we see them all the time but there may be someone die ing in there
What disgusts me is blm out there attacking EMT workers
The same thing happened to my sister! Some maniac driver got impatient and honked his horn, spooking the horse and causing it to rear, dislodging my sister and then falling on top of her. As he (the horse) struggled to get up, he struck my sister on the base of her skull with his forefoot. She leaked cerebrospinal fluid for twenty-four hours, but then it slowly dried up. X-rays showed only a tiny hairline fracture of the skull and she wound up recovering without any significant treatment. But it was *really* scary at the time!!!
Goodness, I'm glad she turned out ok! I'm guessing the horse was alright too? Id hate to hear that the horse was hurt badly.
@@setablaze1802 Interestingly, the horse (who earned the nickname 'Headbreaker' for a few weeks) was fine. Only a fortnight previously, though, my sister's friend was riding him when he trod on a glass bottle in long grass. He reared, the friend fell and - guess what?- broke her skull!
He was the prettiest horse I've ever seen: a blood bay anglo-arab, 15:3 hands and with the loveliest nature (aside from his habit of breaking heads). He went on to do well in the dressage arena.
@@betrisherninox2865 did the friend die??
@@anonanon5046 No, she went on competing at dressage events and never missed a beat! :)
She's lucky, 6 years with TBI and Post Concussion Syndrome here. That was from loading a spooking horse, something I had done dozens of times before. Now I have had 2 days without a headache and all the lovely other symptoms of PCS in droves.
My coworkers 18 year old daughter just passed away from this exact situation :( it was an instant death but the family was horse riding together when it happened so everyone saw.
How awful :(
I almost cried reading that just then. The only reason I didn't, is because I stopped myself. R.I.P to her. That is sad as fuck. :(
Oh my! I’m so sorry.
@Hairy Mango good one
@Hairy Mango nobody thought that was remotely funny
Only one night in hospital? She's so lucky bless her, and only two weeks to recover the feeling in her foot. Just goes to show that no matter how awful something is or looks, it is usually not as bad as first feared. When someone is conscious the whole time, enough talk, to cry or feel nausea etc, that is a good sign, specially with a head injury. Glad she recovered, and it is not the horse's or her fault, it's just a freak accident, chalk it up to experience and move on :) x
she is my mums friend; h=she was on a nurse course and wanted to finish it. she is a harcor woman :)
I disagree, it is the horses fault. I don't go on a killing spree cause my dad scared me and say oops it's an accident. Fuck horses
@@golly4080 it’s not the horses fault or the women’s because the horse don’t want to get hurt or shot so they get scared at noises like my sister was on a horse before and the horse got scared of a noise and my sister flew off.

@@ameenh4122 yeah I recognized that afterwards.
i love my horses, and i couldn’t hate them for ever kicking me, but this is my worst fear. a spooking horse isn’t a good one.
We all get scared at some things, so we therefore we cannot blame horses for being ‘bad’ when they spook.
horses have feelings to..... if they get spooked easily.. there's a reason for that.. and that mostly ISNT a good indication...
it's not the horse fault for getting spooked.... that's like saying. you're not allowed to get startled as a human
@@dreaming4ffr so true
Especially if they do it in the trailer or a stall where you can't get out of the way as easily.
Just avoid the back legs as much as you can. Always get their attention before you're too close so they know you're there. Stay safe.
Her saying “I can’t believe he kicked me” got me in my feels for some reason
it blows my mind that people are surprised when such a giant & stupid animal attacks them. I don't go anywhere near horses. They are terrifyingly strong, stupid and incapable of remorse. It's the most lethal combo.
@@HalfDayHero I wouldnt call them stupid, but easily frightened. Like a toddler level of scare-ability but instead of a 30 pound baby it weights 1 ton and can send a hoof at 200mph (at that short of range, essentially bullet speed) with 2000 Ibs of force. The same reason I could literally never be around a gorilla. Absurd strength and no remorse.

@@HalfDayHero as a horse Person, it shows that you are not around them often.
@@HalfDayHero horses are in no way stupid, they are actually extremely intelligent, they can recognize a humans emotion and react to it. My sister does therapy with horses and its incredible how much these animals can understand humans, its actually something i never believed myself until i came in contact with them for a bit, absolutely beautiful animals and the bond a person can have to their horse can be as strong as a family member or close friend.
This is how my dad met my stepmom. Her horse kicked him in the head and knocked him out cold. She kept in contact to make sure he was okay and then eventually offered to take him out to dinner to make up for it.

I'm friends with people who are into horse riding and they always make fun of me because I'm scared of horses. This video pretty much sums up why.
WOW !!! That was a miracle. So glad that she made a full recovery.
Poor girl! I’ve been kicked in the head, luckily I had a helmet on and it literally saved my life. Expensive hat in the bin but nothing compared to being alive 👌🏻 Exactly why the BHS advise helmets are worn even when working on the ground, majority of the worst accidents are from ground handling!
Hope she recovered well & was able to gain confidence back around her horse!
Slightly unrelated to horses, but certainly related to farm / larger animals - my father worked on a dairy farm for 47 years before retiring. Other than the odd trodden foot he was fine.
One August bank holiday he took our beloved family dog for a walk through a public right of way in a field he’d frequented thousands of times, the only rusty old sign on the gate stating ‘bull inside’ (never has there been any bull in that field). Unbeknownst to my father they had put a calving mother in there, but they weren’t visible until he was 1/4 of the way in the field. He wasn’t anywhere near them, but the next thing he remembers is being on the ground & being trampled on by a herd of cattle (around 12 cows). If it wasn’t for a passer by who saw the incident (he lived on the newly built housing estate just behind the gate) my father wouldn’t of made it. He came away with a punctured lung, stitches to the forehead, 3 broken ribs, & from the knees down to his ankles on both legs he had the skin stripped to the bone / muscle & spent 4wks in Addenbrookes having reconstructive surgery etc.
Even after all of those years working with cattle.. they’re unpredictable. I once had a friend who became paralysed from being bolted from her horse (waist down). Beautiful animals but incredibly powerful too.
So glad she’s ok & made a full recovery. She had a wonderful team on her side ❤️ xx
I’m so sorry this happened to your friend and your dad! I’m so so glad they are ok and they are very strong and brave individuals to get through this. Much love to your family❤️
What happened to your dads dog when he got trampled?
Wait..was it just female cows, cow cows you mean or there was a bull in there to get them pregnant? Either way that’s scary and I hope he wasn’t too mentally scared by it
damn i didnt know cows could be aggresive
@@ishita8361 cows can be very aggressive. Especially as you seem to have missed the key point: "calving mother". Cows are very very protective of their calves. Don't go anywhere near a cow with its calf/calves. Especially not with a dog. And if you have a dog with you and the cows start to follow you, let your dog off the leash to run away. If you're lucky that will distract the cows and they will follow the dog. The dog can outran the cows, you probably can't (cows can run much faster than most people think)
I got trampled by 2 my horses ended up with a couple dozen staples in my head and concussion I was so lucky.Hope she is ok.
Glad your ok ❤️

The pain for me in this situation (head not neck) was just a slight but blinding pain both at the same time that only lasted for a minute of so. Was a weird sensation from what I remember of it!
Wishing her the best honestly
When I untack, and tack up- basically, whenever I’m around my horse- I have my helmet on. Always.

My mum has two horses, while riding the younger one she was thrown off into a wooden cross country jump head first, and had bleeding in her brain. While riding the older one, another horse came up to her and kicked her in the leg and broke her fibula in 2 places and also broke one of her horse’s ribs 😢🥺 but she is better now and still riding 😃👍

Back in high school, I was in cheerleading and we were having after school practice and while doing stunts, a group of girls dropped the flyer on accident and she landed on her neck and the room went quiet. She stood up and clear liquid just poured out of her nose!!!! we rushed to give her paper towels and she laughed and said she’s good. 👀 I think about her sometimes and wonder if she’s still good

This happened to a childhood friend of mine. It was very devastating
I like how the paramedics joke around in the ambulance but are still consummate professionals. Helps keep things running smoothly and maintain camaraderie before going into a horrible situation.
i watched heartland and I work with horses and its therapy for me to. I am going to return next year and I have more days and time as well. I am very excited about it. I'm close to amy, or amber Marshall and she is an actress, but very informational and tons.
that's when I most likely am able to most likely to calm the horses down and most likely. it depends on the energy vibes from me and what I give off, they sense it, and that's how they react is that energy off and from you, me and whomever else. I don't horses that are for races, bronx, or what not. it also depends on what the horses diet and what they feed to horses and what is put in their food, and diet.
I had a life changing accident with a quarter horse, at a hotel, it wasn’t the horses fault, some asshat shot off a canon within 100 ft of us on a gravel path. Spooked quarter horse reared into tree and fell backwards on my back/pelvis and rolled off. Horses are lovely sweet kind animals, it’s their unpredictable spookiness that is scary.
Poor girl. It can be so scary when you get an injury because of your horse. I hope heals well. x
God bless her
Love these
About 25 years ago, a friend's mother was killed by one of their horses in a similar situation. The horse was spooked by something, kicked her in the head, and sent her backward head first into a concrete culvert. Horses have a tremendously powerful rearward kick, it's important to never stand behind them for that reason.
Very lucky indeed, a great outcome.
This one hits really hard given my mum has 3 horses and has already some years ago had a fall that broke her collarbone, i know this was more of a freak accident but its terrifying to know one wrong move could potentially end everything 😖

Hope She's Ok
And that is why I like me some cats and dogs, they won't kick me into oblivion.
I’m surprised she was able to get up and walk and recover from spinal injury 💟
Poor lady..
My mom told me the story about a co-worker. The woman started getting a runny nose. She thought it was allergies until she had it for a few months. They couldn't figure out what was wrong with her nose So eventually they ended up testing the actual fluid. What they found was that she was leaking brain fluid. What had happened was she played baseball and she had been hit between the eyes with a baseball. That had cracked her skull and has started leaking brain fluid. This is diagnosed in the winter so she was leaking CNS fluid 4 months.

Jeez I can't imagine how bad things are if you're leaking CSF - I'd love to know how it escaped, if the dura was ruptured or if it just made its way out by sheer force and trauma to the ear area. jeez.
The skull is somewhat porous so the kick perhaps forced some fluid through it or it entered through the internal auditory canal.
I'd cry
After reading all these comments, I'm not getting into horses anymore.
Haha more horses for me then! But seriously doesn't let them scare you away there is a risk in everything you do, you could die in a car and you could die in your sleep, you Can't live in constant fear 🙃 (I own, train and brake horses for people so I am a little biased to our equine partners)
CSF is Cerebral Spinal Fluid.
I had a First Aid course that I remember from College and the straw colured liquid the paramedic is describing is exactly what we were taught.
Basically CSF is what is supposed to help keep the brain lubricated, not really supposed to come out I don't think. But obviously it can do in accidents such as this.

I seriously don't understand how someone could own a horse, no hate if you do, but I could never. I personally don't trust them and think they're better suited as wild animals.
Bro horses are the primary way of transportation back in the day then automobile got invented.
@@madkhilla22 exactly, back in the day when they were a necessity and we didn't have cars. But we do now. and like I said, if someone owns a horse for whatever reason they may have, that's fine and I'm sure they're super great and useful. I just personally don't understand having one now in the modern day.
because its fun. its pointless to have a horse but its a hobby. as for the transportation, they probably are still less deadly than cars. also since they are domesticated they sadly cant return to the wild
@@EverHillsRanch yeah, if they're already domesticated there's not much you can do but try and give them a good life, what I was mostly talking about in that since was when people actually go out and capture wild horses in order to domesticate them. now I don't know too much on the matter so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but that's the part that seems cruel to me, like say sure your not gonna let your dog out into the wild it's a dog whos been domesticated for decades and mostly would have a hard time without human help, but its stupid to go out and get a wolf as a pet, sure it may be " domesticated " but its a wolf there's only so far you can get with them even when raised from a puppy.
@@nknife2149 yeah they do that to “control the population” but they could actually just sterilize the horses and release them again like people do with cats. Capturing a wild horse would be too sad tbh
Whilst thus maybe an isolated case it emphasises the risks and perhaps it's an indicator of caution that needs to be alerted to this type if activity.🤨🤔
I know of a lady whose horse just up and kicked her in the chest when she was in the barn with him..killed her instantly - so tragic..the horse is not to blame as they just react to what is around them - he got spooked by something

I hope that does not put her off riding and being with her horse, she a stronge woman =)
I work with horses. I've been stepped on, bittten, thrown off, and kicked, and I know I'm potentially risking my life every time I take one of the young ones out of their stable. I just hope that a kick in the head or the breastbone have enough impact to kill me on the spot. I don't think I could live as someone with a disability and never be able to play with the horses again.
Good girl for having the strength, knowledge and bravery to ring 999. Lots of us equestrians try to pretend to be braver or in less pain than we actually are. Hope she's recovered well and that this hasn't ruined her relationship with her horse or her sport.
Christ, she took that hit like a champ 👀
almost happened to me lucky I blocked the kick with my elbow and only ended up with a cast
My horse accidentally kicked me when I got too far under her while trimming her hair around her hooves. We were waiting for the farrier, she'd lost a rear shoe. Decided to get some grooming in while we waited. She went to move a fly off with her rear leg and caught me in the temple. Sent me sprawling. Ginger was ground tied, but she came over and stood over me until I could sit up. Pulled myself to standing by holding her neck. Thankfully, it was the unshod hoof that got me.
I can't imagine how awful a true kick would feel. Really scary.
I saw a show with a lady whose head was caved in by a horse kick. It was awful. She recovered with brain damage and reconstructive surgery
What Did you do for it to kick u
I do walk behind some horses but there are many horses at our stables I do not walk behind, the horses that I do walk behind I trust not to kick or use their legs in any way towards me (without reason like spook or something). of course trust isn't enough and it can always happen and a spook can do a lot to a horse you wouldn't expect.
Poor woman, she must have felt so sick.
I was kicked by my friends horse. She nailed me in my thigh. I heard the bone go. Then Im laying there trying to get the rest of the herd away from me. She didn't mean to kick me. She was aiming for a nearby horse. Horses don't mean to hurt you.
As a former horse owner, I know how unpredictable horses are and have been kicked myself, and twice nearly in the head. Once turning someone else's horse out in the field, and lunging my new horse who was very excitable. So I recommend wearing a helmet when handling horses, especially if you don't know them very well. And always keep your head away from a horses head, cause it bloody hurts, I got smacked in the nose by a friends horse, and I saw stars, luckily it wasn't broken, but it felt like it.
@7:09 🤔🤔🤔 Who is this person on the helicopter asking, “You can’t open the windows can you?” That’s VERY troubling!!!
