This is by far the most comprehensive Madrid walk. My favorite part is when you came out of Plaza mayor and went to Plazuela de San Gines then back to Palaza Mayor. Its nice to see you cover areas not a lot of ppl cover. Great video. Thanks

1:04:51 the statute dates back to 1640, and was the first of its kind. Following a painting from Velázquez and scientifically advised by Galileo, the sculpture Pietro Tacca asked Galileo how to produce a full bronce piece that stood on it’s back legs. The answer was simple: the rear half is solid and front half hollow. Tacca worked six years on the sculpture in his studio in Florence before sending it to Philip IV’s court in Madrid.
Thank you very much for your interesting contribution! It is also true that the statue was originally placed in the gardens of the Buen Retiro Palace in the 17th century, and much later, in 1843, it was moved to the Plaza de Oriente.
That's why it was known as "the statue of the three geniuses" (nowadays Tacca is almost forgotten, at least by the average person, but back then he was at the top of the cream).
