Great tutorial! I need to do that on my cam, but also want to restore Wi-Fi/bluetooth connection(if I try to use, It goes System Error) and replace slot1, all opening one time only. Did you know what is needed? Or can you share where to find a tutorial to those problems? I search a lot and can’t find anything. Thank you!
Thanks for doing this video, really helps out some people. Would wonder if you know the question to my answer.. How does the Fan assembly look like on the other side (the side stuck against the camera internals) Is it open? Or is it closed simply acting as a fan cooled heatsink? If open, wouldn’t that risk dust being sucked into the camera internals?
I don't remember much, but in my memory it's a closed heatsink with some screws. The black plastic part acts as a whole, there's a heatsink and a fan under that. I haven't take off that to see if there's opening under but I guess it would be fine. As Sony claims the dust and water resistence level is unaffected by the cooling.
Question, so does doing these steps void the warranty on the camera? How long is the normal warranty for even after purchasing the camera? I don't even know if I'm still under warranty.
Hey Jperlman! Literally just replaced mine. Let me know if you need help! Not even necessary to go through all this trouble taking apart the body. Easiest repair ever. I just had to go through the turmoil because the hinge needed to be replaced as well lol
@@JPerlman06 Yes! You'll have to detach it. There are two sets of screws. One on each end. If you turn your lcd screen 90 degrees you'll be able to take off the screws on the side connecting the lcd to the camera. On the other side will be two exposed screws that come right off. Once you do that carefully take a thin piece of plastic (a guitar pick would even work) and slide it through the connecting point of the screen to loosen it up. Start with each corner and it'll come off. It can take a second so just be patient. Then you'll be able to take the screen off and you'll see the board. The ribbon cable will be attached. Carefully take your pick and slowly edge it in and the ribbon cable will come right off. Then the screen will be completey disconnected.
Sorry, I don't know how. But if you have a spare part, I guess it's not far. Maybe not tighten the screws but take them off and disconnect ribbon cables.
@@progun1corn hey i actually learned how to do it myself, its very simple, you don’t have to do anything you did here, all you have to do is get the 4 screws around the screen, and split the screen in two, the back side and the lcd screen side, then just disconnect the wires in between the to halfs and just buy a replacement lcd screen, its much more simple than this, which i thought the process would have been similar but its not
@@progun1corn yes exactly the screen consists of two parts a back side and the lcd side and the only part i removed was the lcd side and there is no need of opening the entire camera but just the 4 screws hold together the back part of the screen and the lcd part of the screen
Thanks! This worked to fix my wobbly screen. Took about an hour and lots of anxiety.
Thank you for the a7rV addendum! I just bought a used one and it is wildly wobbly.
sad to hear that, mine A7RV still remains solid, I don't know if it's because I have already glued the screws.
You don't need to remove number 3. Awesome video thanks for posting!

Wow you are a very brave soul, for figuring this out for us!!!! Thx
thx it worked like a charm - great song as well
Thank you for this tutorial! It worked perfectly!

Just for future viewers: I did this following the steps and it was very easy. Just be careful, go slow, and you won't strip any of the screws, etc.
How did you glue the handle rubber flap back down?
Thanks 🙏
Do you think the glue is okay to be adding? Dont want it to compromise the camera after the fact.
And what glue did you use? Locktite?
Thanks
Where can I buy the screwdriver and what size is it?
케이블 분리하고 작업하면 아주편한데~~조립시에는 토크드라이버 로 메뉴얼에 표시된 토크로 조여주세요
Thank you so much, fixed my Fx3 screen
thank you for this
wow...yeah, there's no way I don't mess something up doing this haha.
Yeah, if you are not experienced just take it to official support or camera repair shop
Thanks so much!!
Ugh. One of the screws was really tight and now it's stripped. How the hell am I supposed to do this now?
Sure you've figured it out by now, I had same problem and just attached my screwdriver to that screw with a drop of Super Glue and it came out
Great video, do you know the screwdriver sizes you used? :(
Sorry I didn't notice, I just picked whatever it fits. They are all Philips screws though
thanks a lot!
Does the camera still boot up and record when the LCD ribbon cable is disconnected?
Yeah, you can record with the ribbon disconnected. If you press record the tally light will still light up.
@@progun1corn thank you!
I just cracked my screen. Any idea what else I would need to do to do a full screen replace?
