Sad as hell that Street Military never got big outside of Texas. When I moved to LA and started showing my friends their tapes they were all blown away, and couldn't believe these guys didn't become huge. Another Hit, Dead in a Year, Gotsta Get Paid, G-Song, Tears Came With Making This Dream, I mean this was a hell of a talented group, especially Pharaoh who should have become a huge star. So much amazing hiphop coming out of Texas in the 1990s, and yet so much of it got no love outside of Texas. E.g. Street Military, Lil Keke, 5th Ward Boys, ESG, 20-2-Life, South Circle, etc. Geto Boys punched through that wall but seemed like even UGK had to pay dues forever before they started getting recognized outside of Texas.
Maaan, you said a mouth full. All them boys you named was Htowns finest. You took me out with 20- 2 life..them was mya boys . We lived next door to them in htown. Black and akilla hoe are my friends...we were prowd when they album came out..maaan..the ol school is the best school
It’s because Beatbox records owned all the rights and wouldn’t let them do anything to further their careers. BeatBox sucks and made all their money off the backs of Street Military
Yup true ugk got more famous when they did that big pimpin with Jay z but yes alot of talent came from Texas and really the south coast eight ball mug too
This album was released June 29, 1993. Nothing compares to it, even to this day. The realest shit to ever come from all the different Houston ghettos. This should be preserved by the city of Houston!
Been 30 years now! I grew up listening to my brother blast this in my mom's stereo system, I'm 30 now and I still listen to street military daily, nothing's changed . Love from Drown! Free pharaoh
Damn these Katz are only 15, 16 years old and sounding like this. This is Houston's NWA. They were so ahead of their time it's sad. They should've gone nation wide. RIP NUT. Pharoah keep your head up in there 10 toes down doing life. STREET MILITARY IS HOUSTON, TEXAS
Respect that my G...Street Military was all our potnas niggas...just like the rnb niggas Htown..i went to Yates with Dino, Shazaan and GI..me and Gi was in 2 classes together and he used to tell me that they had a group coming out called the Gents. Then 1 day he said,, "we got to go to florida, we have a meeting with Luke" i didnt see them again until 1 day on BET Knocking the Boots was on TV..i was like MY NIGGAS MADE IT......❤
I use to hang out wit these cats.....they was before their time.....next to the geto boys, they're the dopest group to ever come out of Houston.....Trinity Garden & Mo City(Nawf & Sawf).........can't beat that....shoutout Pharoah.......RIP Nutt
Why is that an achievement? To satisfy a bunch of psychopathic conspirators? They hung niggas in broad daylight and you're worried about a language thats a remix of every other language? Yeah ok..
@Trill FiggaTranslation: why is lack of profanity an achievement, when the english language was created by a lynch mob of crazy whites, who were just remixing other languages to create english. it holds no REAL merit.
The ONLY rap C.D. i can play straight over and over. Every song was a number one Hit. These guys deserve more credit than they have now. At the time Nwa was good but Street military was better in my opinion.
The big difference between them is simple NWA was a Tv industry rap group and is full of fake niggas like ice cube Dre and others except for Eazy e and D.o.c while the street military is a underground street hood rap group and is full with REAL NIGGAS
Omg I cant believe they had a vid for this. Im a young cat from Austin and all of my older cousins put me up on Street Military. Pharoah is my all time favorite rapper. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Sir.
I just came across this music video on RUclips. I Directed and Edited it back in 93 maybe. I had not seen it before on RUclips and I did not post it myself. It's not the greatest clip, but it was an early work I did via a New York Agent (900 frames) and my first national project (even though it was shot in Houston with Houston's STREET MILITARY). These were some great kids who were really hungry to do some great work. I didn't quite get them what they wanted though I'm afraid. I think they wanted more bouncing cars and real-life images when I was more interested in creating a visual style with water and the story of this young kid caught in a bad situation. Most people didn't understand that the female wasn't supposed to be an actual person but more like an idea. Kind of like an angel watching over everyone. I don't think it ever actually hit the mark although I am happy with some of the visuals. I think it might have captured some of the sadness and heartbreak the song was conveying. I'd do it differently today but, in my defense I was young and inexperienced and the budget was very tight for a music video shot on film (around 15K). I hope the guys in the group are doing well all these years later now that we have all grown up. If they come across this video I want to wish them the best and apologize for not making the video better. ------ on a small note, I want to thank ROY for uploading this video, but in all honestly Roy, you were the ONLINE EDITOR, which means you actually just rebuilt the off-line edit I had already completed. So, just for the record that should be noted before you take any artistic credit for this (and maybe thats better for you, as this video wasn't the greatest thing ever created). STREET MILITARY - "TEARS CAME FROM MAKING THIS DREAM", Directed and Edited by Andy Siems --- On-Line Editor - Roy Schneider
Absolutely correct Andy, I did the on-line only, and not looking to (or needing to) take credit for your creative. The only reel I had this on was from Meyer Production and was a music video on-line edit reel. I will add on-line to the description to clarify Andy. I hope all is well and life and career are treating you well!
and i did the street promotion for this video. thought it would be a huge hit. it was a great song, wild pitch simply did not want to spend any money on the project. they thought word of mouth would get it done. they signed the group for highway robbery price already. i'm sure wild pitch made out like bandits, but this group could have really went big nationally
I thought this video was great even when I 16. I am from Alabama and always went to the record store and bought music I never heard before. So was probably the only person in my area who ever heard of them. But always got stopped by people asking me what I was playing when they heard it bumping out my ride.
I remember Street Military, didn't personally get down with any of them but they were regulars in the neighborhood in SW Houston on Braeburn/Gessner... I remember "You H#3$ Can't Fade Street Military" blaring through the airways. This anthem really spoke to who they really were and the struggles they endured individually, collectively and professionally. #WeaverRd
Fr? So they was in the West tough then? Ik Nutt got killed off Creekbend Where would they be @ on brauburn area? I heard of them being in MoCity but never SW. That’s what’s up. I love hearing past of my city.
Saw Lil Flea in the barber shop about a month ago, As a kid in from MoCity seeing them in real life was like seeing a celebrity back in the day. Street Military was one of the hardest groups to come out of Houston, still jam their stuff today.
