Her AD scaling is fine it's more about absence of onhit effects on her passive, E and R and R attack speed scaling. Nashiors does fuck all for her on WR and so does BoRK. You can build sunderer against tanks still doe. But AP is just better in every facet imaginable.

I hate champs which let you swap skill for essentially calmness training. Katarina, Riven, etc. These champs should not exist for the health of the game, it's not normal to have champs who just make the game single player where only one player's performance matters in a matchup, regardless of how well the other player plays. How would you even start to make Kat fair for other players? 30 second shunpo cooldown, nerf all ability cooldowns so she can get less daggers/has to use them in a cerebral manner, make dagger dashes centre targeted and unit dashes edge to edge, and make slows slow dash/blink activations and increase dash/blink cooldowns by the % of the slow? Is Kat really just so broken by design that there's no way to fix her without making her unrecognisable to her players? I think Kat is so hated because she's designed in such a way that a normal player playing Kat at 50% effectiveness is already capable of doing more than 90% of the champs in the game, and every point you improve beyond average makes the champs seem increasingly unfair. It's very easy to be not that good at a champ. I think Kat needs the pro play treatment, the champ has never been fair and the only difference now is that we're in a game state where tanks are broken but anti tank is available to everyone and even more broken, so now that Kat has got access to tank countering items, she's gone from no counter play but can't do anything to tanks who navigate lane well, to no counter play at all.
It's not kata that's broken; it's more of the items she's allowed to build. Take away her onhit scaling on her abilities, and kata will go back to the way she always was.
Its funny you mention "the pro play treatment" when kat's never ever picked in pro play because of how bad she is against people who know how to counter her, even more so with a coordinated team. But yeah, I agree with the other reply, they should just remove the onhit stuff from her and make her focus on ap again, not ad bruiser items.

She needs the pro play treatment, for solo queue. A champ balanced for only people *fundamentally* good enough to play her, because balancing her as she is has created a champ who is arguably the most hated champ in the game, legendary for being a faceroller disguised as a micro genius champion.
