Bro I swear whenever I realize an area I really need to work on, you have just uploaded a vid of exactly that thing.
I specially have trouble getting that scooped guitar sound with the really tight low mids, I’ve been on the fence about bassmint for a few months but probably going to buy it now
@noahstrasmann1557 I don't usually like saying "You need this plugin" but it truly has been a game changer for me
@@noahstrasmann1557 Often with super low guitars, mids and bass basically switch. You WANT mids, rather than bass.
I love how you educated people who struggle to get a great mix ❤
Before you go reaching for that fancy plugin theres a couple things you should check first.
Theres really only 3 things that should be down there
1:subbass (bass drops) which should be 20hz to 30hz
2:kick drum 40hz to 60hz and
3: bass guitar 70hz to 120hz
Make sure these are not overlapping and your bass will be super clear and loud.
Also make sure to cut these freq out of other componets like vocals for example can sometimes have a low rumble that needs be cut out
Very useful as always 👌
Instant sub, your mixes sound great
My Dude. Slaying it!!
Yoooo. Those high parts in your new song sound so fucking cool
thank you very much !!!!
Good stuff
to be honest, when I listen it on my headphones, adding the bass mint plugin on master bus actually removed nice (at least for me) warmth of record. This could be my personal taste though
For sure! Very subjective and also dependent on the mix 🙂
😘😘😘Thanks !!!! Love you!
Yes, Mo... you do produce metal and it fckin slaps...
Great video! About bass-mint. Is it a smart low-end resonance suppressor like Soothe or dynamic eq like Gullfoss? Or something else?
More similar to Gullfoss focused on the lows/low-mids. It's not as tweakable or exact as soothe 2, more shaping the overall frequency response
When you mention trackspacer ducking out post-production do you just mean stuff like SFX and impacts etc? Thanks a ton for all your help man!
Not the impacts because I want them to have the sub punch regardless. More so the synths and ambient layers :)
@@MOMetalProductions Thank you very much!
Nice tutorial man, which emulation room you use in the VSX? I’m struggling with mixing low end in most of the rooms, thanks!
The far monitors in Zuma studios 🙂 and I'm boosting some lows in the built in EQ in VSX to make it a bit more beefy.
@@MOMetalProductions Thanks buddy I'll give it a try and see what happens, I've been working with HD650 emulation and works good for middle range but for low end it's almost not perceptible even with Eq, tweaking.
Hello, in relation to the song reference, at what stage of the mix is it generally done, since the reference is finished and balanced, and our mix is just beginning? thank you
I'd say you should get a good balance and the main tones going first. Also engage bus compression and loudness processing so your transients isn't sticking out too much 🙂
What headphone do you use for accurately hearing low-end. I keep reading the sonarworks headphone guides, but they only write which headphone is not good for it 😐.
I use Slate VSX. Check out the video by 'In The Mix', it's a great review of different headphones for mixing in different price ranges
Question, I have seen Jeremy fox use some sort of widening plugin on bass. You have a stereo bass track here as well. Sooo me being a lost new guy. Could you explain why? Since everyone says bass down the middle???
It's adding some width to the tops of the bass and blends nicely with the guitars. What is pretty important is to have the lows on the bass be mono, the stereo bass has not much information below 200 hz or so.
Ok so that small area to gel guitar and bass top end, thanks man
Do i still need to the "andy sneap trick" to my guitar bus when i use the bass mint? please reply thank you
They do different things. I think the multiband compression on the palm mutes is generally put at 80-200 hz and acting a bit more dynamically, whereas BassMint is slightly more static and acting at more like 150-350 hz by my ear.
Could you use track spacer for all tracks instead of pro mb?
I assume so, I am not sure about the attack / lookahead of that one though. It needs to react quickly enough to duck the bass as the kick hits. If it doesn't react quickly enough there is less clarity. That's why the lookahead feature of MB is so good :)
@@MOMetalProductionsI just realized there are attack and release you can control on trackspacer. Do you use those parameters?
Make a video on guitar edit
Hello, I need to know how much it costs to mix and master a metal track. Cheers!

Question, how do you set up Metric Ab? Master track as an insert? That’s it?? Thanks
Yeah, just om the stereo out or in my case I put it on the control room (the monitoring track) in Cubase. Just make sure it isn't affected by your processing like limiter etc on your master
@@MOMetalProductions yeah I'm on Reaper , i'm struggling to set up metric ab without it being affected by the other plugins on the master
@@MOMetalProductions also any tips on where to download reference tracks? thanks man
@@diostaylowtheres a button on the router that unchecks the master bus, then you gotta send that track directly to your speakers or headphones from the router window.
@@diostaylowdude just put it on your monitor mix in reaper. It's up in the right hand corner and the very top. It won't be in the signal path.
Dang, your Cubase realtime performance meter is PEGGED! How to you go about printing mixes without clicks/pops/dropouts with all that processing?
I don't have a problem with that in Cubase. Real-time export is an option if it appears 🙂
(CPU is also more pinned when I'm screen/audio recording with OBS than when mixing normally)
I have a muddy bass sound. Will try bass mint. Thank you
Just dip your eq a little bit around 300hz it will clean it right up
@@Durkhead thx mate I’ll try
