The Mandalay is a bad Titan bomber for one reason... all the Titans will be dead by the time most of us get one

@@gfsagagfg7769 The Mandy hasn't been released yet to the general player base. One should be purchaseable with ARX on the 28th, and should become generally available 3 months later.
I really dont get it all. Even game itself!! saying that we make a ship which beat ASP Explorer. Mandalay for Explore!!!. Why try to use in combat(cant say use in combat there is some big M) after all.
Recommending the Mandalay for Titan attacks is almost as bad as recommending the Mamba.

Finally somebody who understands what we're talking about, is calling out the major disservice Ricardo is doing to the community with the latest build videos, with facts.
Nothing personal against him, but CMDR Ricardo needs to absolutely invest more time and serious effort in these build videos, I don't wanna see new commanders quit because they build a ship that doesn't work and waste resources they painfully gathered, losing interest and faith in the community.

haha - I used a Mamba for a titan run. It’s about the fun and madness - not about the titan meta. (And yes, the mamba is the wrong ship for the run) ❤
Oh I completely agree. I love the mamba too. But there’s a difference in announcing something is “great” vs “fun”. Important not to mislead there I believe
The Python MK2 is a great Titan ship because they take all the agro for the rest of us
The Mandalay is for exploration.
I did not see any calculation for its max jumprange so I made it my self.
It is 92 ly, which is 1 ly higher (little bit less) then the Anaconda!
However, keep in mind that the Anaconda handles the plus mass better. So equipping shield, boost, hangar or anything else cost less jumprange for the Conda. Because of this, in any practical exploration build, the Conda will still have more jumprange unless really stripting down everything.
The limit for this is only 5 ton, which is the mass of 2G vehicle hangar.
With all due respect cmdr, I think the reason why you might be considering Python difficult(edit: i apologize for the wrong word usage i meant "in comparision requiring more skill" as noted at 3:12 ish) for bombing is due to you using the faster orbit method of using triple axes and it having not as fast turn (edit: clarification "when not thrusting"), I've been using the python2 myself and the only thing I need to do is park my ship 2.5k away from the vent, wait for it to open, target it and only use my right lateral thrust while mashing the boost button, I can consistently get all eight vents in my solo instance with enough time to consistently get about 24-25.5mil credits( this is due to me having the habit of slowing down my ship earlier to not touch the vent as I'm traveling towards it making me lose about five or so seconds)
Using right lateral(or left it depends on preference going clockwise is my preference) makes the bombing completely trivial and popping sinks while shooting the pineapple makes for an easy escape after with minimal shield loss
Oh I can work with the PMk2 just fine (see all vids and streams where I use it.) It is a lot squishier though than the Krait Mk2, which is why it may be less ideal for a general audience who is still learning the ropes of Titan Bombing (and WILL make mistakes.)

The Mandalay is great for exploration and being a bubble Bus, but its not even ment to be good at everything and trying to force it to misses the Point of ship classes
The Python mk II is a lot narrower so it will fit in tight spaces better. I think with a Mandalay you'll spend more time bouncing off the Titan's hull. I'll have to get help from your discord to acquire the materials needed for the shards. Thanks for providing real data.
I'm running a shieldless Python, it survives about the same length of time that I have to play in a session. That's a good trade for being cold and being able to keep most of the ship powered, lol.

I saw and listened to his video. I don't watch his channel for ship build advice. I do watch because he often has early access, and that is interesting. He seems pretty good at on foot stuff, which I have limited intereat in, but knowledge is power so i try to learn even if not focused on it.

Python MK2 is the perfect Titan Bomber, period! Even the Pilots' Federation stated this at its launch.
I think CMDR Ricardo said it can be done, I don't think he alluded that it was the best and tbh for 2m credit you can pretty much use any ship in game 😂

yes, if there is meta, yes.... but u can rly use many ships for titan bombing. i used now many ships... krait 2, chieftain, challenger, cobra, adder.... and all worked very well
I mean I've used an Adder ... but I don't go making videos saying the Adder is great at Titan bombing ...

Python Mk2 should be using clean drags to stay colder rather than dirty drags, no? Obviously, it's still the better choice for Titan space regardless but the top speed in the current preferred configuration with boost is only about 520 or am I doing something wrong? lol
No you are correct. Both the PMk2 and the Mamba in the configs we generally recommend run on Clean Drives and use shields. (Though it is entirely possible to make very-squishy hull tanks with dirty drives for both ships - but if you’re making that build, you will be in a place where you really know what you’re doing.) Thus the easiest thing would be to compare ships with the same thruster configuration, especially noting that both the PMk2 and the Mamba (especially the Mamba) can hit 8 vents + core pretty reliably on clean drives - in fact more easily so IMO than the Krait Mk2 with dirty drives… either way no super straightforward way to compare; either you use same thrusters (like here) or you start getting into tank-vs-speed discussions for each build … and an 11min video would become a 35min video :).

@@dennisallen5841 Nah to go “extra speed” you gotta go “no shield” and personally I would not recommend it, noting there’s plenty of clean-drives-and-shields haters out there, so no doubt you’ll see a share of shieldless PMk2s running around.
@Astyrrean Won't see them for long though lol. The survivability of the shielded built is far superior to the hul tank. This is 3rd Titan, and only my first using the Mk2 Python. I generally run out of ammo before I drop below 90% damage. It was worth the grind for sure.

People can enjoy whatever they want. That doesn’t mean tho that the community shouldn’t have access to all the facts and make their own informed decisions …
@@Astyrrean yeah, and people have access to that information already. You don't need to shit on other people showing builds for the new ship. Especially when in his video, he said it was good, and fun, but certainly not the best
@leonathotskaya335 I sincerely doubt that people have access to that information. In fact I believe this video is the first direct comparison of various ships as bombers… and I don’t shit “on people” - I set the record straight (as requested by many in the AX community btw) on claims made about new content coming in the game. If you want to take it personally, there’s not much more I can say I guess….
Hmmm. Ricardo has said pretty good; you’re saying average. I’m not sure if there is much difference in those expressions. Pretty good is not good; perhaps maybe above average? To be honest I’m just rubbish in any ship!
I think it's disingenuous to say an average ship that costs 16k arx is 'good' for when six other ships are just as 'good' for but only cost credits. New players need top quality advice not mediocre advice😊
The key thing is that two ships are way better

@@chrissumner6046 yep you can make an average of 160-180 mil before you need to rebuy on mk2, and it takes about 40-50 minutes from launching from the carrier
If you think his opinion on the Mandaley as a titan bomber is bad, don't watch at his other videos on ax-builds - at least don't do it completely sober. He uses overcharged powerplants in every build, recommends ecm and sfn against banshee missiles (???) and refuses to do any kind of power prioritization. He clearly appeals to the unambitious pilot. He is kind of a good shot in ground combat though.
(While I agree with the sentiment, ECM now DOES work against Banshee missiles -it didn't initially, but now it does-, and there may be some confusion as while SFNs do NOTHING vs Banshee missiles, TPNs actually DO protect you from them; just sticking to the sentiment of "let's get the facts right" as always :) - and the facts do change over time like in the case of ECM!! To be clear I am not "out to get Ricardo" -or anyone-, I just want to share as much factual information with the community, so the community can judge for themselves on top of my and everyone else's opinions)

Have you tried the FDL cmdr ? I'm intrigued to see what you'd squeeze out of it. Just to see where it would fit in with that selection.
I took a viper mk4 in there, that was fun with no caustic launcher. 2 for 4 making the cloud. I ate pizza and watch football, rebuilding it for 20min plus in the asteroids 😅
I haven't tried the FDL, because the Python Mk2 should really have been called FDL Mk2 instead, and with "just" 1 Large (Huge, but large for AX purposes) + 3 medium slots available for bombing, there really is no rationale to use the FDL over the PMk2 for core bombing.

Also its alot of fun if you take completely the wrong ship in there. Very challenging too.

I remember not too long ago you released a similar video about the Python MK2 only to use the MK2 yourself recently. I think we should reserve judgement until ship is released and tested first hand. Just saying.

@@Astyrrean thought it was one of yours, but maybe I am mistaken... It was about 5-6 months back shortly after the MK2 specifications were released. My mistake if not one of yours.
@@CMDR_ALNASL I've always mentioned, since release, that the PMk2 would make for a great bomber. AX ship otherwise, not so much (and that's still true) :). In fact I believe I was the first to put out the PMk2 bomber builds (originally with Sirius MRs, and later on with Guardian Shards.)

Thing is, pretty much ALL ships with a medium slot or more can, and the definition of “get the job done” varies … I would personally argue that it is more than 20% thermal core damage per cycle on a premium build.

We all know that certain cmdrs who are frontier partners dont have the knowledge/skill/comprehension to give advices to other cmdrs but still do it. Its a matter of knowing who can be trusted and who shouldnt be

Let people play how they like and stop trying to reduce everything to just the min max.
Oh I’m all for people playing the way they like (check out Eagle vs Hydra.) But I’m also all for giving people the facts rather than the opinions.
So, I appreciate the time and effort it took you to make this video. I would say that your response is from an elitist point of view. There is no wrong build to do any activity in Elite Dangerous. You and the AXI have your ship builds, concepts and strategies which many people appreciate. How ever they are not perfect, nor do they include everyone that plays this game. A good pilot can take any ship and be a bomber and if they believe it's good then that's their opinion and who are the AXI to question what other people build or put out on their channel? Seems like you turn your nose up at any idea that isn't yours. Which is stolen from Citizen Kate anyway. Lastly people paid to buy this game and want to play it the way they see fit without the judgment of others.
Right. Everything is stolen from Katie. Who learned much of what she learned about AX from yours truly, and who wasn’t even around when Titans became a thing … are you even hearing yourself? Come on dude time to move on … there is such a thing as too much whiteknighting you know.
