This is a common thing that happens. It's fair to not like it. Reasonable. But a small and loud minority is making a massive thing because they will culture wars grift anything.
That was kind of the intentional tone for A Knight's Tale, though. It wasn't trying to be a super serious period film like the original Gladiator.

Ridley's been rather inconsistent, I don't wanna get my hopes up, but despite music choice, trailer got me excited to return to that world.
What makes the Gladiator 2 trailer and the music extra offended is that the Long storied band member of Dead Can Dance Lisa Gerrard WON AN ACADAMY AWARD FOR DOUNG THE MUSIC WITH HANS ZIMMER in the first one.

The main reason for churn is simple. 10 episode seasons. When you had 23 to 24 episode seasons you were locked in for 6 months and then something else would start and you dont leave.
That's true but series these days play out more like extended movies as opposed to a 24 episode TV show.
I’ve been saying this forever. Every time I hear that streaming shows being cancelled based on the number of new subscribers it pulls in, I would immediately bring up customer retention. Cell phone providers have entire departments dedicated to this. If you have a hit show, keep people coming back for it.

Here's a little movie trivia for ya! Since you were talking about the same song being used for "Gladiator II" as they did for "Safehouse" with Denzel being in both films. The main song they used in the first "Gladiator" which is called "Now We Are Free" with the woman singing in it. Tony Scott, Ridley Scott's brother stole or barrowed it from his brother Ridley. The movie he used it for was starring. Who else? Denzel Washington in "Man on Fire" Which came out 4 years later in 2004. Go back and watch "Man on Fire" It's the main song in that picture. Food for thought!
I agree with modern music being a bad idea…another thing that can pull me out of a period piece is an ancient Roman character speaking modern American…no accent or anything :(
you can get away with an american accent if its a deeply serious and focused, character driven performance. You can't do an urban american accent in a Roman movie though. I'm actually shocked that Denzel went with that. I always knew he could not do period characters, but I really hoped he would give it a genuine try in this. Like, tone down the "Denzel" and do something nuanced. What he's doing here is going to destroy the movie no matter what else is put on screen. And I've never said that about Denzel ever before.

because they don't have marketing degrees.
It's the marketing team's responsibility. Different budgets. Very rarely do directors get involved. Nolan is one of the few who oversee trailers.
Too many streaming services, prices kept going up, and our economy isn’t helping us too. And then, theaters tickets are too high too in which it’s making it hard for me to wanted to go out and catch some of these other films. It’s kinda hard to enjoy movies lately.
CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY TO REPORT - You went to 90's fresh prince songs and you referenced SUMMERTIME for Oppenheimer when BOOM! shake the room was right there!?! and you were a breakdancer in the 90s!? re-record and fix this please, for the love of god. Not a bad trailer ,a few things threw me off tho ,number 1, it doesn’t matter how stacked the movie is with huge movie stars if the most important character which is Maximus son doesn’t move me or doesn’t make me believe his character then the supporting cast can’t save you . Number 2. I agree the music was bad , then 3. This might be a reach lol , but something about Denzel laughing and giving someone a dap looked way too modern day for me and didn’t look like it belong in the movie .but other than that he was great in the trailer . Just my opinion.

My favorite road trio movie is "road trip" but more recently I'd say Hit & Run. That was good one.
Im enjoying the season. But so far, I think season 1 was better. And that is because season 1 is as perfect as u can get to a season of any series, let alone a first season.

Yea this is beyond mid compared to the og gladiator. I feel like if they had Denzel act the way he did in The tragedy of mcbeth remake, it would've fit this character better that he's playing. But ridley did this same weird thing in Napoleon. Like dude it ain't hard to have actors speak with foreign accents. Joaquin Phoenix sounded like a modern normal everyday American in that movie 😅
No excited for Daredevil? To me that's definitely the most exciting upcoming Disney Plus show
I think it's a bit too early to get that hyped for Daredevil. Until recently they only just figured out the story for it. Let's wait and see a trailer first and then we can all start talking about it and getting hyped.
I like Kevin Costner. He's a leg. But this movie just seems like Kevin being a cowboy for 3hrs. It's ultimately his fault for leaving a wildly successful franchise in Yellowstone to make this passion project. I mainly feel bad for the huge cast of amazing actors that signed on for this.
Told my wife this yesterday, & i've been feeling this for a few Episodes already.... My prediction for the Final Episode is Damon (obviously) gets that MONSTER Dragon out of the Cave he was singing too, Damon Faces off against Aemond & his MONSTER Dragon Vhagar. There ends up being a MONSTER DRAGON fight between them that somehow ends up behind the NORTH ICE Wall, Damon's "CAVE" Dragon Kills Aemond's Dragon Vhagar, Aemond goes down with his Dragon BEHIND the NORTHERN ICE WALL, AEMOND & Vhagar BOTH Turn into the UNDEAD, Vhagar Turns into an ICE DRAGON THEN AEMOND ends up becoming the ICE KING, Damon becomes King of the SOUTH!!!!😃NEVER read the BOOKS, PLEASE no Responses referencing the Books from those who have. I'm 100% feeling this!!!

1:10:48 I think you’re really downplaying how much a negative portrayal can really affect a person’s reputation, once people see it generally they just take it at face value. I mean this the same world where some people can’t separate the character from the actor (Joffrey Baratheon, Homelander, etc.) so ofc they’re gonna look at a biopic and assume all of it happened cause no one cares to fact check anything.
I think certain period pieces can have modern music in it and it works such as putting out the fire with gasoline for Inglorious Bastards and peaky blinders. But it just seems out of place for gladiator. But as long as it doesn't take you out of the movie I'm ok with it. I guess we'll see.
If this was an original movie, it would work. Gladiator has an established tone and vibe.
Inglorious Basterds' tone was completely different being a Tarantino film and not based on real events.

I liked Horizon. It feels like 1883, which I'm sure is the reason there is a feud between Costner and Sheridan... but I look forward to the next one. Just a lot of characters, a lot of plot lines.
I saw Horizon in theatres. Honestly, I went mainly to see when it looked like it would fail. It was a nice story, but yeah, it's a condensed TV show. It would have been much better as a spin-off of the Yellowstone series on Streaming.

I don't know the trailer was trash man. I don't even know if it's going to be good or not because the score always tells you if the movie is going to be good or no. It looks like a good film but the problem is the fact that the score was confusing and problematic.

churning = viewer's allotted time for TV watching, IMO. People are going to use what time they have to watch TV, watching the "best" shows, or the ones they like. Sooo there's no way to compensate for this really in my opinon. Unless your studio is so badass all you do is pump out #1 shows.

I'm honestly shocked at the outpour of hatred towards the music. I'm not even saying you aren't allowed to dislike the genre or its inclusion in the trailer - it's not for everyone - but thematically the song fits and the actual movie score is going to be composed by Hans Zimmer, and will not contain any actual Kanye West or modern rap! It's not nearly as big a deal as people are making it out to be.

The music of the trailer should always represent the music of the movie. As soon as I heard the song start (And I like the song), I had to turn the trailer off. Some may think it's badass, but it should leave thinking it was epic.

I would highly recommend it. Not only is it great there are specific story beats that may not make sense to you based on the trailer, because it apparently references Maximus quite a bit.

I watched the trailer right b4 this segment....I thought it was pretty fire. They're interjecting weird Rap remixes for all the previews now days. So im used to it. And the remixes are always great.
I don't know, the music in the trailer didn't bother me. Actually I wasn't excited about the movie and now I am after the trailer. Not because of the music, just the movie looks fun.
I don't want to be abrupt in my criticism. A few things I don't understand. Why is this woman in the movie, from the first one? Why has her son been changed in the flashbacks? Why does the main actor, not look like he is emoting Rage and Fury very realistically, or more savagely? Why did they show us Pedro Pascal Dying in the Final Frame? And finally, why is the trailer so long?
Denzel looks like he is having a really good time, which has me hopeful. I don't know If I am going to like this, similar to Napolean. We shall see.

Directors are rarely given the ability to edit their own trailers. Few even get a say in what is or isn't included
I also had that question about the young actor playing Connie's son. I believe they wanted to shoot new scenes with the son character that are flashbacks instead of inserting scenes of him from the first Gladiator film so they had to recast for this reason since the previous actor is a grown man now.

The only streaming service bundle we haven't got yet is Paramount+ & Amazon Prime. If they could include Starz (Outlander), Showtime (Dexter), MGM+ (Star-Gate) and some sports content as well it might be worth it. As far as Horizon goes I won't be surprised if Peacock (Universal) calls up Kevin Costner when he's broke to see if they can get him involved in a Waterworld TV series. Let him executive produce, he's still a big name and they need big brand name fantasy IP for their streaming service. That Gladiator 2 trailer was terrible, too long, corny line delivery from amazing veteran actors. The contemporary modern hip-hop & rap music does not feel like it belongs in a "sword & sandals" movie. It broke my immersion and took me completely out of the trailer.
You think 5 streaming services + sports channels would all bundle up. At that point it’s just going back to cable, you can’t really be that dense lol.
