This one is honestly the best by a wide margin, to the point 3rd one is almost disappointing by comparison The ending and the villain of the 3rd movie is absolute perfection tho.
What’s interesting is Alex does have that “real” lion in him. In the first movie we saw that side of him and it scared Alex because it made him almost kill who he loves. So imagine how it feels being told that from his father knowing what the lion in him almost made him do in the first movie
Just as Shrek poked fun at Disney, I feel like this movie was poking fun at _The Lion King_ specifically. It was also, one of Bernie Mac's last roles. He played Zuba.
1. Remember when Alex started panicking in the 1st movie when he was all alone and drifting in his box? Yeah, this movie's opening adds *so much* emotional weight to that. 2. Its crazy how much of an improvement this movie is over the 1st one. For one, its way funnier and leans into the absolute insanity. Alex duking it out with the old lady from the previous movie will *never* get old and the Penguins are arguibly *at their best* in this movie And , even more importantly, it manages to take all its characters and gives them something to do whereas in the previous one, Alex and Marty were kinda the stars of the show with the Lemurs and Penguins having their own little side plots that connect back to them. And of course we have the emotional core of the movie being much stronger overall.
10:25 Melman looks different than the other giraffes because he’s actually a different species. Melman is a Reticulated Giraffe, which has sharp orange spots with more defined shape, and whiter fur in between. The rest of the giraffes are Masai Giraffes, which have more faded brown spots with less defined shape, and their in-between fur is more tan. This movie is set in the Serengeti, where Masai Giraffes are native. Reticulated Giraffes live more north in Kenya and Somalia. When i was in Tanzania and Kenya, I observed both species and they both are pretty cool. The Giraffe has about 11 different subspecies spread throughout Africa, and the only other animal in the giraffe family (besides giraffes themselves) is the okapi. And there’s your zoology lesson for the day, y’all. Hope you enjoyed.
Dreamworks has this strange thing where the sequel to the original movie is always the best of a given trilogy for me. Madagascar, How to Train Your Dragon, Kung Fu Panda, Shrek, now Puss in Boots
Yeah it’s interesting how that’s worked out for them. I’m assuming it’s because the first movie is ripe with new concepts and ideas, but with the second one they have the opportunity to perfect those concepts and correct previous mistakes. Especially after audience feedback, it makes it easier to know which areas they’ve fallen short and which areas to focus on more.
The way James gets as mad as Marty about the iPod is hilarious. The plane's launch/crash scene are my favorites of this movie. Mort's determination to follow King Julian is admirable. Great react you 2 😁
The first scene always makes me cry & the scene where he is reunited with them and he’s like “I have a mum and dad” … I’m sat there like 😭😭 Another great reaction though guys! ❤
I liked the second one more than the original because I thought it was a lot funnier. Plus, I love seeing that Alex got to reunite with his parents. We actually learn about Alex’s backstory and how he got separated from his parents. Each character has their moments and they all get some sort of laugh out of me. Although, I thought the fight between Alex and Marty felt a little forced. I don’t get why that needed to happen. It literally added nothing to the story. I guess they just needed the “best friends break up” cliché. Even though we already got that in the first movie.
The penguins in combination with the monkeys is my favorite part of this movie and of course King Julien…just imagine how they came up with those ideas when writing this film
I absolutely love this movie! They smoothed the movements out a bit, and the humor’s so over the top- the sharp designs feel like a cartoon properly brought to 3D
I love how this movie shows the backstory of Alex. And shows how he became the animal he was. I saw someone mention how he had the "real lion" in him already, but it almost got the ones he loved killed. So it must have hurt more when you think about that. Also, it explains how in the first one, it showed how scared Alex was to be in a box. Which in this one, shows why he had that fear, being taken by hunters, seeing his dad get shot, lost at sea, all while he was in a box. This one is by far the best of the franchise, with the first, being in second. Love the part when Alex saved them by doing the only thing he knew how to do.
5:21 King Julien is my father every time I have to travel by plane. For some reason he thinks it's fun to make me watch planes crash or things that can go wrong on a flight on the eve of my trips. The first time I traveled by plain he rented United 93 & Turbulence for us to watch. Good times... Also, nice to see you guys reacting to more movies I like and liking those movies too. I was hurt that you guys didn't like horror movies that I like :'( Just kidding, always good to see your reactions. Keep up the excellent work!
Bernie Mac & Sherri Shepard play Alex's parents. I love it. I kinda wish they all met their family or some sort of connection via family. I implore anyone who hasn't, to rewatch this film and listen to everything Chris Rock says in the background as the other Zebras. It's hilarious.
I love it and it has incredible emotion, and I realize they probably never intended for a sequel, but few things they shoehorned in are a bit irking. Like Alex's matching birthmark and Melman having feelings for Gloria. I wish those things were are least alluded to in the first movie. I also feel like it kinda forgot Alex went "wild" in the last movie and had SOME instincts left. It's still my favorite movie in the series though!
I think Dreamworks actually learnt this lesson. because in How to train your dragon in the first movie you can see Hiccup’s scar on his chin. I’m not sure on other series but Dreamworks learnt to plan ahead for such things. So this movie has its flaw in the birthmark and Melvin’s crush but it’s one of Dreamworks few sequels to have such flaws.
This sequel has more actions, adventures, surprises, and still funnier than ever. This was Bernie Mac's last role before his passing. Best sequel ever 💥💥💥🤣🤣🤣😭😭😭
Fun fact Will-I-Am the rapper voices Moto Moto and does several songs on the soundtrack for the movie as well as the other members of the Black Eyed Peas
I LOVED MADAGASCAR 2👍🔥I REALLY ENJOYED THAT WE GOT SEE ALEX’S CHILDHOOD/BACKSTORY WITH HIS PARENTS😁. LOVED THE AIRPLANE SEQUENCE😂♥️. PENGUINS ARE MY FAVORITE. IN MADAGASCAR 2 I REALLY LIKED ‘MOTO MOTO’😂🤣I ADORED THE GRANDMA AS IT WAS GREAT TO SEE HER BACK 👏👏😂. AND I LIKED MAKUNGA JUST BECAUSE HOW ALEC BALDWIN DID HIS VOICE🔥🔥🤩KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK GUYS♥️♥️👍
Maybe not my favourite of the trilogy, but like with other Dreamworks films, they really put the time and effort into their sequels, developing characters and putting them into new scenarios.
Madagascar: Escape to Africa is one of my favorites movies from my childhood. I still got the DVD of it from when I was young. While I loved the first movie a lot, the squeal is by far the best for me personally when it comes to this franchise. Also knowing that this was Bernie Mac last movie he did before he passed away is another reason why I love this movie.
Another rewatch must. I think I've heard this movie more than I've seen it. I just could not connect with it, but I did like the parts I did pay attention to. You know elderly people being badass brawler is so my humor. I love butt-kicking 😁. And it was really sweet that Alex found his family but what a gut punch having your kid swiped. All those creeps who do that, were they sad at all when their kid watched the movie and they hear such a scenario? I'll bet not. 😒 great reaction, that had me laughing the comment about the shark just going for what it wants lol.
WOW, what an absolute callback to an old show at 5:00! look up Twilight Zone Nightmare at 20,000 Feet (1963) on YT! It's a short thing, but Twilight Zone was like the original Black Mirror. The show was about all these weird short stories that were happening to people. This particular one had a guy leaving a psychiatric hospital riding on a plane and he kept seeing a "gremlin" on the wing tearing up the plane out his window. People thought he was crying wolf and when they took him away at the end, the engine was ripped apart.
Rip Bernie Mac, if you ever want to see a movie with him I recommend the sequel of Charlie’s Angel Full Throttle. Moto Moto is voiced by Will I Am, in an interview he speaks in his normal voice but then he goes deep and it’s like whoa that’s deep.
Loved this! It’s my favorite of all the movies. 😄 There was such great character development in this, Makunga was a hilarious villain, the music was awesome - a practically perfect sequel. 😊
Omg! This movie is great. Now I wanna watch it again lol. I'm looking forward to your reaction to the third part because it's even more goofy and crazy.😆 It's my personal favorite because it never gets old. Let's be honest, there's this case with so many DreamWorks franchises. It's that their sequels are kinda better than the first one. I watched a dub version of this movie as a kid and somehow it felt more than a movie back then. I still resonate woth the emotions and fun that it brings today but back then, it was different. I can remember how much I felt for Alec, how betrayed I felt when Gloria joined her kin and how sad I was for Melmen throughout it all. This was the first Madagascar film I’ve seen way before the original one in 2005. And guys, it was absolutely incredible. ✨🦁 I like how Alex showed his moves and energy and the song says it all. That coming out as a lion from the jungle, he became what New York was meant be. 🗽
The little guy on the wing is another "Twilight Zone" reference. William Shatner ( before he became Captain Kirk) was on a plane and saw a gremlin sabotaging the planes engine thru the window.
This movie, is literally golden on my childhood, especially where Alex was dancing ✨ that is where my dancing personality came from!!! 😭💕 Btw , day 2 of asking you to do Penguins of Madagascar movie, please that movie was also awesome

This opening scene when the day lion is chasing Alex as a cub. reminds me of a scene from the movie Two brothers. It's a really good movie it's about two tiger cubs and please look into it.
Honestly the plane held up fairly well given its first crash landing. The fact that one of its engines and its landing gear was made of wood, it could have been far worse.
Can u pls react to a movie that is kind of comedy/romance. Its called Fools rush in. Salma hayek is in it and I think Jeremy Miller he's the guys from friends I believe
I love this movie. I like the first one as well but this just is so much better. I genuinely believe this right up there with some of dreamworks' best.
Which is your favorite movie in the Madagascar series?? I liked this one best!!!
The first one is the funniest but this one is objectively a better movie.
This one is honestly the best by a wide margin, to the point 3rd one is almost disappointing by comparison
The ending and the villain of the 3rd movie is absolute perfection tho.
