At this spring of 2005 I thought we as Finns have reached the bottom in Eurovision, not that there hadn't been some Zero poing years earlier but this song with Geir Rönning dropped out from finals...A year later Athens 2006 Lordi.
so i'm asking, why didn't this song qualify? this is so soulful, i love the production and geir's near studio sounding voice. luckily lordi got revenge for finland all the other times they've been robbed so that's awesome!
I think it's cause the guy doesn't look like a star. His outfit looks very dated and he looks old. I think it's a good song - it should have qualified. But when you're up against upbeat songs from pop stars that fit the young/attractive mold, this type of performance falls through the cracks. And it's a shame cause it was a good vocal.
Not saying this is that bad but im still thinking literally WHY. Why would we send a Norwegian singer with a song like this. I skipped ESC this year and i dont remember a Finn who really liked this. Its a decent pop song but anyway. Im glad we do things differently now.
Back in 2005 most finns had pretty much given up ESC. So the national selection got minimum attention. Because virtually nobody watched and voted, this won. It's a shame because there *was* much more worthwhile material, such as Jennie and Wäinötär.
Because we have our own isolated culture and taste. While we have a close relationship with Sweden, we are culturally much, MUCH closer with Estonia. This is the main reason why I facepalm at the notion that all Swedes vote Finland automatically. Couldn't be further from the truth. Not only are we rivals, but our tastes are wildly different.
Caldera we are culturally the fucking same with sweden with minor differences in each of our cultures. And we don't have our own "isolated culture". I don't know where in the backforests of lapland do you live, but you are not making any sense.
Really? If that was the case, then why everything comes to Finland so much later than Sweden? Even movies tend to lag months behind Sweden. This issue was multiplied in history where international cultural waves sweeped accross Europe, Finland would lag behind for a very long time. As a result, Sweden today has learned how to market itself, which is one reason why the term 'Swedish sauna' is in common use. Not only that, but we have tremendous cultural differences through religion (Finnish paganism has a huge influence even on modern finnish christianity) and not only that, as people in general finns tend to be a lot more silent and depressive than swedes. I'll have you know that I live at the very southern tip of Finland, surrounded by finnic-swedes as I am one myself and as such I am so very aware of the cultural differences between Finland and Sweden. Closest nation to Finnish culture is Estonia, not Sweden.
Ei ulkomaalaiset yleensä ymmärrä suomalaisuutta "all that well".
It is not forgettable at all!! It has been 14-15 years since I watched it as a teenager, I remember the lyrics like I watched it yesterday! It's one of my favorite songs!!! Believe it or not!
Rip Hanna-Riikka🥺 the backup singer who has blonde hair, she had a cancer.

Good song and astonishing vocals. Great singer, one of my favorites.
These are the ashes that Lordi rose from.
Gimme ashes then

Wonderful song. One that I have always remembered from Finland. Beautiful melody and full of soul. Finland should be proud!
I think this song is good actually. I'm hard to please, but it sounds slightly like an 80's ballad. The guy is a good singer.
anthonyfranco88 I thought the same, but I cant remember the song
Kitaro - Caravan
This is actually very good and pleasant to listen to. Very overlooked entry that year, fitting to be in the final.
I read that the lyrics are about the Beslan school attack where 150 children died.
I LOVE THIS GREAT DEEP MELANCOLICAL SONG. GOOD SINGER AND WONDERFUL CHORUS. COULD HAVE BEEN WINNER. Greetings from Spain.
🇫🇮 Best song in 2005 Eurovision for me...
Well done 👏 😊

@@anthonyfranco88 i have to agree with you 5000% here
Bland, whiny & forgettable song
Try and listen to all the songs that year. There's a lot of great ones.
Iceland and Belgium had even better songs and didn't qualify either.
This song is so underrated! Also with the fans apparently, since there are less than 20,000 views..
Love this song! Actually reminds me of 'Africa' by Toto
He gave an excellent performance :)
this is genuinely a pretty high quality song
Terrific vocals
BTW guys, this song was inspired by the Beslan school hostage crisis
How did this not qualify?!
Its my friends dad, i know u didnt ask
Sums everything up this year.
De las mejores canciones de toda la historia del festival, canciones que llegan al alma.
At first glance I thought that one of the backing singers was Joe, who represented Ireland that same year, they look fairly similar.
Its very beautiful best
This song would’ve qualified in 10th position if only the juries voted.Only 3 countries used jury though
Love this song 😍❤🥰
Greetings from Bulgaria 🇧🇬🤍🇫🇮
Beautiful ballad
this song is good and its almost simple same as Toto's africa. well not rely.
Beautifully sporting matching pieces of 00 Hornby railway track around his neck and wrist. Why ?
Back in the time when Finland was still winless xd🤣🤣 But they sent amazing Lordi next year ❤️
Why was he able to compete in Swedish Idol while already being an artist? WTF
Not saying this is that bad but im still thinking literally WHY. Why would we send a Norwegian singer with a song like this. I skipped ESC this year and i dont remember a Finn who really liked this. Its a decent pop song but anyway. Im glad we do things differently now.

Tell me why, why, did this not qualify?
A very strong year. The year before would be easier
Because he looks like in hangover. His choice of clothes is awful. *And* the song is useless. Doesn't grab attention and goes nowhere.
Exact
Lol this is first time i hear this song and im finn
Just more a ballad....
Why this didn't win , and Lordy won ? For me this is masterpiece
lordi was better thats why
🎶🎵👍
18 место полуфинал
Why?
Whyy?
Finland, so I'm asking why, why, why on earth did you send this?
I'm in finland and I don't like this song

Bad? Maybe some facts please?
Boring and forgettable song of Finland....
It is not forgettable at all!! It has been 14-15 years since I watched it as a teenager, I remember the lyrics like I watched it yesterday! It's one of my favorite songs!!! Believe it or not!
Hideous clothes. The worst of the fashion from that time.
