I can't describe how to feel during one of Max Richters song, I'm experiencing alot of different emotions, it's just perfect in my opinion.

It's so fitting how this is my favorite month, and now there is a song to describe it perfectly.
Superb sense of harmony and musical progression. Max Richter just does what's needed to do the job. No more or less just enough to hold you entranced to the end. Genius!

Meanwhile, amidst the decaying Western civilisation, a spark has been promised in the art of Max Richter.
this is so good, beyond the parts of the music here used in The Leftovers... i didnt know it was extended out as much as this! i almost cannot describe how unreal this music is.... it brings out the same feelings, to me, as good as the best drugs or life-changing-event could on a person!!!! this music might just have the power to alter the course of a persons life, not even kidding! its sad, happy, inspiring, and probably a lot more .... just all wrapped together in a way that i couldnt conceive musically possible! would love to be able to ask him what thoughts were in his brain when he composed this and some of the other themes from Leftovers.... that brought me here, i just dont know how i never heard of him before that!!!

It bothers me a little that "the leftovers" or a tv show has become affiliated with such a masterpiece. Can't something so beautiful as this music remain unmolested by corporate media? Sorry for the mini- rant, but I guess I am guilty of being a purist, lol.

I heard it on Pandora one night then later found out it was tied to The Leftovers and I said for months that I'd watch it. Then finally I walked into a room and caught the exact scene that it was in. It is not worthy.
You randomly walked into a room and saw the scene that featured the song and deemed it not worthy? Wtf. Of course, if you randomly watch a scene from a show you know next to nothing about it isn't going to have the same impact....And Max Richter doesn't seem to mind the association so neither should you.
Fianlly, the music from the J. Edgar trailer. It reminds me of the The Village soundtrack by James Newton Howard. Beautiful.
Richter is an accomplished classicist who relies a lot on Glass's minimalist style to ostensibly pull a popular audience back in the direction of conventional symphonic music. What his audience appreciates about him in the end, though, is not the classics themselves, but the cinematic effect he achieves in rendering the classics. I have no problem with that. However, Richter does not challenge himself in either the modern minimalist form or the modern baroque, two areas where he might accomplish truly remarkable things.
