In the first sentence of this verse Bhagavan asks, ‘what will be my state if I leave this body?’, and a friend wrote to me today asking me to explain this more fully, saying: ‘Why does Bhagavan mention leaving the body here? [...] wouldn’t it be enough to say what will be my state after this suffering and pining if it just continues unbearably without seeing you?’ In reply to this I wrote:
The sole cause of both birth and death is our failure to see ourself as we actually are (which is what Bhagavan refers to in this verse as 'uṉ kāṭci', your sight, meaning sight of Arunachala, who is our real nature), so if we do not see ourself as we actually are we will continue to undergo this unceasing cycle of births and deaths. This is the implication of this rhetorical question, 'what will be my state if I leave this body?'
For how much longer do I have to continue this suffering? Show yourself to me now so that it ends once and for all. This is the yearning plea coming from the heart of the devotee.
He mentions death here because this suffering is not just a short-term problem but one that continues life after life until we see ourself as we actually are.

If we learn Bhagavaan’s teaching with mind , we will only end up in a big confusion with a bag full of never ending questions just because mind can never grasp ( or don’t want to ) his teachings . So When you read his works , sincerely beg to pour grace on you since you are nothing . At the moment peace explode on your heart. As Bhagavaan mentioned “ It’s very easy “
