The show this video is from (as well as several other recent videos) has the audience to the left and right of the stage. The robots try and "play" to all of the audience, not just straight ahead. It's not very apparent since you don't get to see much of the audience in these videos. :)
Best parts about this performance: -Matt's drum solo -Michael's guitar cam -Hatchy's comments -The Spine's vocal range -Rabbit's last note I LOVED THIS SO MUCH
It's bloody insane how well these guys and Gal harmonize together. I literally started listening this morning and can not stop. This song in particular. Their voices vibe together so well.
@@erikwallace4936 It's a long story with a lot of Canon but Irl Rabbit is transgender and is now Bunny. She hadn't transitioned back when this released. I believe MK III was the first album Bunny appeared on or maybe it was Vice Quadrant. Either way when she transitioned irl they wrote a mechanical transition into her back story. This band goes super deep with lore, it's insanely interesting.
That was one of the most aggressive and high energy SPG performances I've ever seen. I feel like I was watching a heavy metal band from the 1800's. It was glorious. AND RABBIT'S LAUGH AT THE END YASSS EVERYTHING Xx
To be honest I never liked these guys because well you can't just have automaton makeup and sing songs based in the 50s (I'm looking at you, I'll rust with you) and call your self steampunk. But some songs they have are steampunk kinda like this one so those ones I listen to.
Being a song artist you have to work with a slight verity for the audiences sake rather then just having a focus on one style of genre. How else do you think musicians and bands get jobs? lol
I really just like how Hatchy's voice has that quality of being a combination high and a little raspy. He really stands out from Spine and Rabbit without getting in the way which is quite nice.
I just realized after years that Rabbit doesn't say "Antonio hears" but "attune your ears" insteaf, I do not know if I can still trust my hearing organ.
When I first saw the official video of this song, I figured the part where Spine is going high and low when he's repeating "brass goggles" was done more in the studio. Different takes. Then I see him make those changes live, and all I can think is: Amazing.
This performance sounds like they chugged like, all the Redbull in the planet right before going on stage. Who the hell gave these robots energy drinks?!
This is spectacular - Sam was a good drummer but he is truly shining as Hatchworth and now we get to see Matt being an AMAZING drummer. It breaks my heart a little in the best way when Hatchy goes into his offline mode in the crouched position like he's still in the vault. And the closeups on Michael Reed bring me more joy than I imagined they ever would. I keep thinking David and Bunny are at the top of their game and then I get delightfully proven wrong.
man! its so easy to just get lost in the characters. so easy to forget these are actual people doing this !. THIS is true art. music that cannot be replaced or even forgotten
Please stay together indefinitely. I need this in my life. Just started listening to you a few hours ago and this is some of the best music I've ever came across in my life.
No, you have a life. I don't. I always go by my steampunk name My REAL name is quiet hidden as I ONLY go by jak g. Cogsworth. I died. And jak has taken over
I discovered SPG a few days ago and have maybe been mildly obsessed ever since. It's especially the harmonies for me, so addictive. I'll probably never get a chance to see them live because I'm on a different continent (then again, who really knows?). I'm just happy the internet exists and I get to watch their perfomances like this.
So not Grant Imahara's attempt at making a robotic Jamie Hyneman? Only programmed with Adam Savage's Operating System that's spent too much time playing with an electromagnet? That should be something they could test on Mythbusters.
Rabbit. The only person (Or- Well, Robot) that can make me excited and terrified at the same time. I can't tell if that's a good thing or-... Ah screw it it's a good thing, Rabbit is awesome. Look- He's even got the Spine excited. That takes some talent.
1:01-1:03, 2:11 -2:12, Hatchworth after the drum solo, 3:52, 4:40, AND THE ENTIRE SONG IN GENERAL ARE ALL REASONS WHY O CANT STOP LISTENING TO THIS SONG RABBIT'S LAUGH JUST... HALP
This is seriously the best live performance of any band I've ever seen! You all have so much energy and enthusiasm on stage it just makes the show so much more enjoyable. You guys are simply amazing!
Bunny's got an "It Gets Better" video if you'd like to hear it directly from her. But, really, it's not something to get hung up on. Bunny is simply an awesome person and amazingly talented entertainer and artist. And that's better than most of us manage. :)
Wow, just wow! This is amazing! I love the way Brass Goggles has evolved in such a short amount of time (the drum solo, Hatchworth's replies, everything!) - and the multiple vocals! Always loved that! One reason why Goggles has been one of my favorite songs! Thanks Spine for posting this!
This video brings me much joy! Brass Goggles makes me feel all giddy, like I'm a part of something, a community of fans. (It was the same way with Drunk Space Pirate for the Mechanisms)
This vid is definitely my favorite version of this song. (Of course they're all good) but I really enjoy the amount of energy in this plus the drum solo is amazing.
Holy hole in a donut! These guys have really cranked it up with this song in their live performance! I remember when I first heard them about two years ago at the San Diego Zoo, and then finding the song from the album. Siiiiiiigh.
Yay! Hearing so many different recordings of this song has shown how much you have improved, and I think that this is definitely the best! With Rabbit's voice going all over the place like a robot's should normally be, and Hatchworth and the Spine's little additions, this is amazing, and you guys have evolved so much even from when you were in the zoo!
Can we talk about how wonderful Hatchworth's voice is at "I never want to hear you say"? Usually his character faces to the side, he has a very consistent pattern, but at that part he faces the crowd and the power that gives the words... wow.
Rabbit sounds so violently instense in this one. I don't know whether to be excited or scared.
intense*
Both is good.

Fuck off
I can't hit the like button twice
This is the "We gotta go fast and we are angry" version of Brass Goggles
lol yes
"How'd you like to try pumping lead through your veins?"
Hatch:"Not interested"
xD
ha lol I thought it was Jon

I LOVED THIS SO MUCH
+Jess Martin SO TURE
The way Rabbit yells "1 2 3" in this gives me life
+D0ct0rsh3rl0ckSPG same
seriously tho
She must have drank a lot of milk before the show
I'm seriously thinking there's nothing better than hearing Rabbit yell "Give it to me, baby!"
Quickly not baby... but still you're right.
It's bloody insane how well these guys and Gal harmonize together. I literally started listening this morning and can not stop. This song in particular. Their voices vibe together so well.

6 years later VeNeRiUs, and I caught wind if them a month ago and haven't stopped every day since. This song in particular.
@@JTtheTalkingHead oh the character is still named rabbit, bunny is isabella's (the person who plays rabbit) nickname :3
Rabbit's energy in this is so fucking top tier what a queen
Rabbit's near-scream/growl/whatever you wanna call it is platonically so hot ngl.
That was one of the most aggressive and high energy SPG performances I've ever seen. I feel like I was watching a heavy metal band from the 1800's. It was glorious.

OBVIOUSLY heavy metal didn't exist back then. It was a joke LOL
Depends on the metal genre
Its La Jolla Playhouse in its prime, the energy there must've been so insane
I thoroughly enjoyed the laugh
Hatchy's voice has somehow acquired the qualities of gruff and melodious at the same time, and I am both incredibly impressed and deeply confused.
Rabbit's singing this so violently O-O
yep
+GummyBearNation AdriannaSpadaro that's why this is the best performance of this song
i like the original better but i really enjoy the style of this one too
Original being the studio version or the one from the video? The studio version is very similar to this style of singing.
I meant the video, sorry for the confusion. It's what got me into SPG
at 1:01 you could just TELL that bunny could SO do screamo
how dare you, there is no such thing as screamo
@@owen7571-l4j there is?
@@Selin-fu9sh solid portion of the metal community doesn't like calling it screamo. Most prefer hardcore vocals.
@@owen7571-l4j Yes there is lmao
This is the song that made me fall in love with Steam Powered Giraffe...
For me it was this one and Fire Fire ^_^
for me it was honeybee, i seriously thought they were animated

The cog is dead was completely steampunk and they just got back from tour.
I really just like how Hatchy's voice has that quality of being a combination high and a little raspy. He really stands out from Spine and Rabbit without getting in the way which is quite nice.
This song just gets sexier and sexier every time I hear it.
Even to this day, I still find myself singing "This is the Red Star / Don't sing these lyrics" right at the end 4:13
Anyone else think they sound angrier here than in the past? Like they're angry about not being "living things"?
o
thanks satan
No problem
YES
I definitely think that they get more into the song in this version. I love their energy in this one
1:02 *_I love the way Rabbit screams "1 2 3" here, it gives me goosebumps_*
The yelling of 1, 2, 3 definitely adds to the song
Very nice
I never ever noticed that Hatch Worth sometimes adds in his own dialogue over the song until now. Now i can't un hear.
At 2:50, we see Michael enjoying himself, but when it gets to 4:36, we see him panicking slightly at breaking a string.... Oops!
Oh my God, that's hilarious. I'm surprised no one noticed that sooner. Good eye!
Bunny has an incredible singing voice, but I love how she can add inflection to it and it sounds ever better.
I just realized after years that Rabbit doesn't say "Antonio hears" but "attune your ears" insteaf, I do not know if I can still trust my hearing organ.
This is my favorite version of Brass Goggles. The audience add so much energy and the whole band is absolutely blowing the roof off the joint!
I looove how crazy and obsessed Hatchy sounds after the drum solo :>
I love the grit Bunny gets in her voice on some parts, and just how it completely disappears on others... it's insane!
Rabbit's "1 2 3" give me MCR vibes in this version - anyone else get that? Loving it
Rabbit sounds so harsh when she said one two three
+Julie Cooper i love it

This is DEFINITELY my favorite rendition of Brass Goggles
1:01 holy hell that energy could send power for miles
Woah this performance is way faster and more intense than the other one. But still awesome!
3:36, Hatchworth's vocals gave me goosebumps! I love it!
Steam Powered Giraffe... The Johnny Depps of music.

Oh shoot Michael broke a guitar string haha, I love it!
I love hatchy's comments in the back while rabbit is singing lmao. It gets me each time.
