i actually understood this concept. i started learning it in advanced math. i was confusing for me in the class. but now Khan has explained it much better
The whiskers are plotted incorrectly. The left whisker should be at Q1-1.5*IQR and the right whisker should be at Q3+1.5*IQR. But, in the video, it says that the left whisker is at the minimum value and the right at the maximum value. If this is the case, then there is no way to identify outliers in the data.
It is possible to solve the question, what is the median, and what is the number that represents the lower quartile and the upper quartile in the question:34,35,36,38,40,42,42,43,45,50,55,65
Thanks dude I have a huge exam coming up and it's an entrance exam for the top highschool around here and I'm so confused on this but now im not so thank you so much!
Another way to easily find the median: Take the number of all the data points. For example, there were 17 data points in the example Sal gave. So n= 17. Then use this formula: n+1/2 17+1/2 18/2= 9 Count to the 9th place in the list of numbers in order from smallest to largest. That is your median.
Why wasnt the Interquartile Range used to determine if there are any outliers? I am taking Intro to Stats and Probability and we need to use Q1-1.5(IQR) and Q3+1.5(IQR) to decide if there are outliers on the plot.
Sara S. multiply the median by 1.5 and subract the product from q1 and add it to q3. any number that doesnt fit between those two numbers is an outlier
Who else is here because they weren’t paying attention throughout the whole lesson?

Omg thank you so much !!!! I finally know how to do it and it raised my grade to an a thank you so much!!!!
Khan academy is so refreshing
Thanks! My teacher last year didn't have time to go through this concept so this year I was freaking out when I saw it on my test
this brought me to the old youtube layout, siick
Great video! Now I fully understand what is being called 'box-and-whisker plot' and how it works, thanks to KhanAcademy. Thank you so much :x
Me too
omg i almost failed math because of this assignment thx so much ma man
This definitely helped me. I haven’t made one of these in a very long time and I have regents next month. So thank you

so what if there's no median in the data in 3:05 do we have to make it up and cancel stuff?
You take the average of the two middle values, like he does later while calculating the edges of the box.
Thanks for brining in clarity for me.
Thx Sal, my man! This helped me alot to understand Box and Whisker Plots for my finals tomm
Thank you so much I have finals this week and a project about this and I didn’t get it
I have a project too, AND I HATED
Because my Partner don't help me
ur voice is soothing
thank you this helped
Thank you, your videos are greatly appreciated. ^^

This was helpful!
Liked your presentation.
Best explanation out there....Much Appreciated!
Thanks dude I have a huge exam coming up and it's an entrance exam for the top highschool around here and I'm so confused on this but now im not so thank you so much!
Very helpful thank you!
This video is good at explaining, how to make box and whisker diagram, God bless the individual who made it, for people like me to understand it!
Thanks man! Been stuck for a while. Didnt know it was that simple!
I am in 6 grade and still understood everything ☺
i am in kindergarten and i know how to spell supercalifragilisticexpialidocious without googling the word
God bless you my man!
you are a great man. thank you.
Coming in clutch for my stats final tomorrow
Helped me remember a lot !!!!!
well explained Sir
thanks helped a lot
This helped with my homework alot. Thanks boieeeeeee.
Now I understand, Thanks Khan Academy!
Another way to easily find the median:
Take the number of all the data points. For example, there were 17 data points in the example Sal gave. So n= 17.
Then use this formula:
n+1/2
17+1/2
18/2=
9
Count to the 9th place in the list of numbers in order from smallest to largest.
That is your median.
yes, thankyou so much khan academy!! you really helped me alot, so thankfull for you😀
Thank you sir
No problemo sis
I love ka it helps with everything in math!!!!!!
Always speed *2!
Amazing video now I can understand BOx and WHisker
Thank you so much :) brilliantly explained and you sound like Tom Hanks ! haha :D x
This video was so helpful thank you
im so thankful for KA, its helped me since i started school, and im so appreciative for the videos it gives to help me have a good education.
that moment when your math teacher forgets how to teach so you have to rely on a three-year-old video two weeks before finals
Thanks for helping, I understood it much better!
I didn't know a box plot was also called a whisker plot! Neat!
thank you very much
Thanks for the video
thanks very helpful
👌👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you so much! I've been trying to learn this sence 7th grade(I'm in 9th now) and never truly understood it but now I do. Thank you!!
ashley parker I’m in 7th and I’m lost lmao
im in 6th and im lost lmao
it helps me a lot, thank you
I have a statistics exam in less than 2 hrs doing some last minute studying... let's see how it goes.
Why wasnt the Interquartile Range used to determine if there are any outliers? I am taking Intro to Stats and Probability and we need to use Q1-1.5(IQR) and Q3+1.5(IQR) to decide if there are outliers on the plot.
This helped soooooooooooooooo much!!!!!!!! thxxxx
Am writing final my math paper 2 and i didnt no how to do this.Thank u so much
You explain WAYYY better than .y teacher and now i can understand my homework lol
loved it sir
never disappointing ! thank you .
Who else is here because statistics to business and economics book is kinda dull
Really helpful!!!!
Thanks so much
Thank you!
Omg thank you so much for your help!
Dude Thank you so much you explained the video so good and helped with my hw
Thank you so much :))
Who is here because your teacher
Mehhh
thank you
What a man
how would you get the outliers?
Sara S. multiply the median by 1.5 and subract the product from q1 and add it to q3. any number that doesnt fit between those two numbers is an outlier
@@BigBoss-if9ez how does that affect the box?
you'd be the best teacher
mine is SO boring
struggling in maths bc I didn't take stats for my gcses and this is part of it, this was so helpful! thank you so much!
God bless you
Ive been doing this ever since ive had my math teacher and all it took to understand the lesson was one 8:00 long video
median =numbers/2
Q1= numbers /4
thanks
A good video
I was Never taught box plots Strangly enough and I'm in tenth grade.
Welcome to hell
I'm still wondering how I'm learning more on RUclips than at school 🏫
