Can not find a recording of the “show” sadly. From what I gathered it was exclusive to the Vision Pro for the live stream. I definitely feel like Apple will figure out Vision Pro over the next two years. It just kills me that it’s $4k after tax pre apple care and a bag. I think if they did a price drop like they did with the original iPhone it would be worth buying even while they are still building the platform. Even if it started at 3k plus tax that would help a lot. But I doubt that will happen sadly. P.S. I actually bought one and the Lidar sensor was busted. Then exchanged and that one also was messed up but the Genius Bar this time couldn’t even get testing to run so no official diagnosis there. And then when I went to exchange it again based on Apples recommendation my Apple Card got flagged and it was a month a half of issues and “we don’t know why or when” from Goldman Sachs. So I changed my mind by then and said I’d wait till WWDC. But now I’m probably going to wait till they release the widescreen Mac display feature. Another P.S. about vision is 2: I am disappointed to hear the keyboard breakthrough feature in the immersive modes only work with Apples keyboards and I use custom made mechanical ones I do not want to give up 😭
Yeah I agree, people have a tendency to overlook the legacy aspect of Apple as a brand and what that means at a strategy level. Like you said they're not about to jump into two new, long term product/service plays without a long term vision - at least you'd think based on their track record. But as talked about in that other comment, that's what we've been waiting to see from Cook. But yeah that all comes back to what you talk about earlier in the video with how myopic (or ignorant of the past) people can be when looking at Apple's actions or the launch of any new product category.
the best argument against what you and i are saying is that none of this was guaranteed - but it never is. i always feel like pure skepticism, while a good place to start, is a blunt instrument and needs to be tempered with historicization, reason, and other analysis.
it definitely seemed unclear to me, but if it isn’t coming to visionOS, i’d bet it’s because of two things: (1) technically - visionOS is a true fork from their other operating systems, and is being treated as such currently. while it shares a base with their other OS’s, it’s not tablestakes to develop a feature on one platform and have it appear on another. (2) organizationally - interestingly, AVP is being developed entirely separate from the rest of the company. while it gets some of the benefits of the work from other groups, it ultimately is completely separate from the rest of the company, and thus won’t get all the same timely updates that the other platforms share
