So I probably won’t get a chance to see you but I’ll be looking online for video of the song. I’m sure you’ll do it more than justice, it’s gonna be super cool, I can tell just by the little parts Midget showed you. It’s also great because I’m unfamiliar with those 2 albums (The Grand Wazoo and Waka Jawaka), because I’ve never been a huge fan of having a brass section so I’ve always shied away from those records but maybe this’ll be the key to open that door for me, ya never know.

This would be a fantastic 8 part podcast miniseries following the whole backstory up to this video, then the process of Dweezil turning it into a fully composed song and finishing up with the song being performed live. The story has real crossover appeal too I think, it's story music fans in general would enjoy, not only Zappa fans.
I was about 14 years old living just north of Toronto…Dude I worked with at a summer retreat for kids turned me on to Zappa. We would take a canoe out onto the lake, smoke delicious Colombian weed and he would play a cassette machine full volume…cuts off “ Shut Up And Play Yr Guitar, Baby Snakes, and Joes Garage” both volumes…he would point out all the sophisticated technical musicality and regal me with stories about the band and Frank’s irascible nature. He explained to me that the reason some lyrics were incongruous(don’t eat yellow snow …) it was Zappa taking the piss out of his record company, who apparently he hated. I didn’t know exactly what he was doing on the guitar, but it was pretty goddamn cool later I learned it was all legato trills and hammer on slides mixed with blistering flat picking. I’ve never heard you play live but I have attended a couple of musical conferences where you have said some stuff. Total respect. If you ever get north of the border, count on me to be there.

I unfortunately am not living in a major Canadian metropolis like Montreal (where I’ve seen you play twice now), but in the smaller city of Moncton, New Brunswick, about 12 hrs east of Montreal.
Fascinating is the word. So cool. I can't wait to hear it!
I wish we (the public) had more of Frank's drawings. from what I've seen, he had a great style. I'd love to see the house on the turtle.
Your father was the first musican I was obsessed with at the grand old age of five. I didn't quite get the humour yet though :D
What an amazing story, and fun project to take on. This channel is on 🔥 ⚠️
That song has some surfy vibes to it. It's interesting stuff. Thanks for sharing the process.
Super Cool! Thanks Dweezil!
What a cool and musical thing!!! Amazing
Very entertaining Thank you very much 🙏💗🔥😁
Hi Dweezil and Midget,
thanks for sharing this with us.
Such a great idea and story.
Are there any plans to release the finalized version of this song? That would be great, also for us who may have no chance to hear it live. Thanks and keep rockin'👍🙂
Thank you. Dweezil
Thank you for not editing this... It's great to see the process
Dweezil comes off as so loveable here 😄 and Midget is very cool and interesting.
Mind blown again. Such wonderment
Fun stuff, what a nice archeological project! Hope to hear the result in January 😊. Thank you Dweezil! Arf arf, growwwl!
I love your channel Dweezil AND this must be awesome for you to discover new music your father came up with! pretty cool! Ya know, I have to say that you and I are the same age roughly, I was born in 70 but the big difference is my father was an asshole so we are at total opposite end of the spectrum when it comes to the parent thing and it's great to see you respecting and keeping your father's music alive! It's a beautiful thing to see! All the best!
Dweezil it is brilliant he is the chosen one you are the chosen one and you will construct the best artifact of this object true traditional means of passing and handing down this will be magical for you to add your extensive knowledge to build this idea into something that may have been what he thought of..... I have faith in you
Thanks Dweezil and Arthur!
At this rough time in global politics, you guys are sharing joy and peace and the fun of your dad.
Haha! DWEEZIL is sitting there staring like his brain is moving so much faster than the guy explaining and he has to reign it back just to have the patience to sit there..
He knows he can just watch the video later but for all OUR benefit he has to suffer through it LOL
I could definitely see this piece come together in a very "FZ Wazoo" way. Excellent sound archeology.
Can't wait to hear it! wazoozled... more horns !!
Family! Perfect for the season. Thank you Dweezil.
Power to Dweezil! I just read Moon's new book and it was interesting to learn more about the Zappa household. Enlightening!
Awesome man! Dweezil I've seen you twice (in Vancouver with Steve and Carmine) and in Halifax a few years later. I am SO SORRY I didn't sign up for your clinic in Halifax (at Dalhousie University). I sure hope you come back soon. I loved your Beato interview. I am obsessed with the 'wrong notes'. Anyway, I am your biggest fan, I've worn out the two hoodies I got from your shows and need a new one! Thanks for your inspiration! In my opinion, you are the G.O.A.T. cheers
Thanks for the kind words. I don't know when I'll be back in your neck of the woods, hopefully soon.
@@thedweezilzappa Brother, I will have to make the trek to Montreal or Toronto to see you in the Spring... As they say in Newfoundland, "God Luv Ya!" and "Keep yer puck on the ice!" (I never got that one... but good lyrics... Anytime you wanna collab on lyrics, I'm your Guy!)
Absolutely fascinating. Good luck on this musical journey. I am certain you will create something wonderful. What a great concept to allow us into this process.
I can't wait to hear this !!! This is AWESOME!!
Amazing! 😍🙏🎶🎸🔥
Dweezil, I ran across your music after hearing you on Beato. You are such an amazing musician and a genuinely kind person. Dude you really rock Holy $@#!!
Thank you!
Super cool song! I was at the Ritz, Frank's birthday first time he didn't show up, cause ill. We were sad but happy you and Moon were there. I gave a roadie a present, the second largest biscuit ever baked
Awesome and thank you, Big Dweez and Uncle Midget .
I hope to see you next time you play Detroit City !
✌️🌞🌏🌎🌍
*SNAT near Franks broken leg, from the album cover from JABFLA might be a good title.Since that tragedy brought him to Hawaii and resulted in this song.Very exciting Dweezil.
Now we have all spent enough time on the same
planet as your dad ..absorbed franks radioactive
creativity and persona,(bless him to all eternity)
it will require exemplary interpretive skill only
you could call upon dweezil, it`s in there...😎
Thanks, I'm working on the arrangement!
FUN!!! I got to learn the song at the same time as you :D
Now THIS is quality content!! Keep 'em coming! PS: I'm totally in for the reanimation of the kitten. RIP Frank
This is one of the coolest things I've ever seen. I'm excited!
Thanks! I'm looking forward to playing it.
I heard a rumor....he contains more fluid than Jeff Beck 😂 😂 😂
This would be a fantastic 8 part podcast miniseries following the whole backstory up to this video, then the process of Dweezil turning it into a fully composed song and finishing up with the song being performed live. The story has real crossover appeal too I think, it's story music fans in general would enjoy, not only Zappa fans.
We will be making more video to follow up on the progress of the song.
@@thedweezilzappa Can't wait to hear it!
When DZ says it's lost. Ears pricked.
thanks for sharing the journey!
WOW...Just wow!
To get to hear a new Zappa song in 2024/25. The future might not be so bad, after all...✌️🤩 Greetings from Sweden.
This is super cool. One of the best things I've seen on the internet in a long time!! Thanks Dweezil
Thanks so much!
@thedweezilzappa thank you for keeping your fathers music alive, I never got the chance to see your father perform live, but me & my wife have seen you with Zappa plays Zappa twice & it was epic both times!!
